Do you wish you knew John McCain better? This man knows him pretty well, and he wishes more people knew him as intimately as he does. This man's name is Tom Kirk. He is going to be a delegate at this summer's Republican convention in Minnesota.
How did he get to know McCain? Like McCain, he was shot down in Viet Nam. Like McCain, he was imprisoned at the "Hanoi Hilton." He was one of 45 men living in the same cell with John McCain. Although McCain was offered a special privilege of leaving early, when the Communists learned that his father was the Admiral in charge of the Pacific fleet, McCain told them he would not leave until all of the men were released. Kirk wants to be a delegate because he knows that McCain is "a man of absolute integrity and honor." He further describes McCain as "extremely intelligent, very funny, and having a wonderful personality."
Thanks to the Rocky Mountain News and photographer Judy DeHass for introducing us to Mr. Kirk and allowing us to learn more about the character of the Republican presidential candidate.

I hope this comes across the way I mean it too. My dad is a Vietnam vet as well, a wounded vet. The man you know 43 years ago isn't always the man of today. No one even the MSM doubts McCain's past service to his country. It's his view today that I find great disagreement with. There's a lot of life lived in 43 years that can change a man.
