Biden conveniently reinitiates strict isolation procedures

Kevin Breuninger reports,
President Joe Biden tested positive for Covid-19 once again after consecutive days of testing negative for the virus, his physician said. Biden is experiencing no new symptoms and “continues to feel quite well,” Dr. Kevin O’Connor said in a memo shared by the White House. But he will nevertheless “reinitiate strict isolation procedures,” the presidential physician wrote.

"Russia is playing chess, while the Americans are playing monopoly!"

David Goldman writes,
An unleashed Iran is a far greater danger to the United States than a neutral buffer zone on Russia’s border. As a nuclear power, Iran will be incalculable. Putting nuclear weapons into the hands of an unstable and fanatical regime greatly increases the probability that they will be used. In 2008, I argued that the United States should make Iran the strategic priority. We chose otherwise, and it will not end well.
On the night of November 22, 2004, then-Russian president – now premier – Vladimir Putin watched the television news in his dacha near Moscow. People who were with Putin that night report his anger and disbelief at the unfolding “Orange” revolution in Ukraine. “They lied to me,” Putin said bitterly of the United States. “I’ll never trust them again.” The Russians still can’t fathom why the West threw over a potential strategic alliance for Ukraine. They underestimate the stupidity of the West.
Think of it this way: Russia is playing chess, while the Americans are playing Monopoly. What Americans understand by “war games” is exactly what occurs on the board of the Parker Brothers’ pastime. The board game Monopoly is won by placing as many hotels as possible on squares of the playing board. Substitute military bases, and you have the sum of American strategic thinking.
If the UN demographers are correct, Russia’s adult population will fall from about 90 million today to only 20 million by the end of the century.
Russia is the only country where abortions are more numerous than live births, a devastating gauge of national despair.
No matter how much the birth rate improves, the sharp fall in the number of prospective mothers will depress the number of births. UN forecasts show the number of Russians aged 20-29 falling from 25 million today to only 10 million by 2040.
Russia has more to fear from a nuclear-armed Iran than the United States, for an aggressive Muslim state on its borders could ruin its attempt to Russify Central Asia. Russia’s strategic interests do not conflict with those of the United States, China or India in this matter. There is a certain degree of rivalry over energy resources, but commercial rivalry does not have to turn into strategic enmity.
One irony of the present crisis is that Washington’s neo-conservatives, by demanding a tough stance against Russia, may have harmed Israel’s security interests more profoundly than any of Israel’s detractors in American politics. The neo-conservatives are not as a rule Jewish, but many of them are Jews who have a deep concern for Israel’s security – as does this writer. If America turns Russia into a strategic adversary, the probability of Israel’s survival will drop by a big notch.

Costs of their mistakes!

Justin Logan writes,
This paper proceeds in four parts. First, it shows the extent to which defense planners were focused on competition with China—not on the Middle East or small wars—in the 1990s through September 11, 2001. Second, it outlines the initial plans that emerged after the 9/11 attacks through the start of the war in Iraq as well as the public mood and the notable disjuncture between budgetary priorities and policy initiatives during the global war on terror. Third, it discusses the derailment of Bush’s freedom doctrine in the years from 2003 to 2009. Fourth, it describes the normalization of perpetual war during the Obama and Trump years, coupled with a restored focus on containing China. In conclusion, it highlights the extent to which the decade and a half following the attacks were a costly waste followed by no accountability. By 2021, Washington planners had returned to an emphasis on China, lost the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, contributed to the collapse of Libya and Syria, and held almost no one accountable for the immense costs of their mistakes.3

President Biden has COVID!

Harrison Kass reports,
President Joe Biden has tested positive for COVID-19. He is currently experiencing mild symptoms, the White House said.
“This morning, President Biden tested positive for COVID-19. He is fully vaccinated and twice boosted and experiencing very mild symptoms. He has begun taking Paxlovid. Consistent with CDC guidelines, he will isolate at the White House and will continue to carry out all of his duties fully during that time,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said.
The White House’s COVID-19 Response Coordinator, Dr. Ashish Jha, reported that as of Thursday morning, Biden did not have a fever – although he was experiencing fatigue, a runny nose, and a dry cough. Dr. Kevin O’Connor, the physician to the president, said that Biden’s symptoms began on Wednesday evening. “The president went to bed feeling fine but didn’t sleep well and subsequently tested positive in the morning,” ABC News reported.
Before this morning, Biden had never tested positive for COVID. The President was fully vaccinated, with two doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine, before his inauguration in January 2021. He then received his first booster shot in September – and a second booster shot on March 30, 2022.
Biden is not the only member of his administration dealing with COVID. “A wave of cases among Cabinet members, White House staffers and members of Congress has swept Washington in recent months,” CNN reported.
...Biden has been prescribed Paxlovid, an antiviral pill that Pfizer developed. The Food and Drug Administration approved Paxlovid last December for use in patients aged 12 and up. Patients prescribed Paxlovid take three pills twice daily for five days. Paxlovid’s pill form was celebrated as it was the first COVID treatment that could be administered without an infusion.
“Paxlovid is made up of two medications: ritonavir, commonly used to treat HIV and AIDS, and nirmatrelvir, an antiviral that Pfizer developed to boost the strength of the first drug. Together, they prevent an enzyme the virus uses to make copies of itself inside human cells and spread throughout the body,” ABC reported.
Aside from Biden’s personal infection, COVID is still a relevant policy issue – with the administration still treating COVID like a public health emergency. Currently, the administration is seeking “new funding from Congress for treatments and vaccines,” CNN reported. “The public health emergency declaration allows many Americans to obtain free Covid-19 testing, therapeutic treatment and vaccines.”

The need to remedy our weakness!

David Goldman writes,
Henry Kissinger’s arms-control flummery and musings on limited nuclear war did not motivate America’s pursuit of détente. We had no choice after 1973, because Russia had the upper hand. But we did not leave it at that. We mobilized our technical and scientific resources on an enormous scale and created the digital revolution. That gave us war-winning technologies in conventional arms and opened the promise of an effective missile defense shield under Reagan’s Strategic Defense Initiative. It was a bipartisan commitment. Jimmy Carter’s Defense Department under the leadership of a prominent physicist, Dr. Harold Brown, developed most of the weapons systems that made America so formidable during the Reagan years.
A détente with Russia and China that accepts China’s dominance in global high-technology manufacturing and its corresponding rise as a dominant military power would be a surrender in slow-motion. It would mean the end of America’s aspirations, and a British-style decline into strategic irrelevance. But a détente that takes grim inventory of our own failings and buys us time to rebuild our technological edge is another matter. The idea will not be popular among American politicians who find it easier to denounce Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping than to remedy our weakness at home. But it is the only path between two unacceptable alternatives: A confrontation with Russia and/or China that we might lose, and which might escalate into nuclear war, or descent into national mediocrity.
The scale of the problem is daunting. To return federal R&D funding to the levels of the late 1970s or 1980s relative to GDP, we would have to spend another $200 billion a year. The great corporate laboratories, starting with Bell Labs, no longer exist; they would have to be reconstituted. Only 7% of our college students major in engineering, against 33% in both Russia and China; Russia alone graduates as many engineers each year as the United States. These are labors of Hercules. But we have the choice of accomplishing them or condemning future generations of Americans to mediocrity. We need inspirational leadership to persuade American taxpayers to fund investment on this scale, like John F. Kennedy in 1962 when he told the nation that we would go to the moon, or Ronald Reagan in 1984 when he proposed to protect America against missile attack.

The truth about the Wuhan lab

Bernardon Cervellera writes,
The book ‘Cina COVID 19. La Chimera che ha cambiato il Mondo’ (Edizioni Cantagalli, Siena, 2020, 272 pages, 20 euros) by scientist Joseph Tritto was released today. China conducted bioengineering experiments with French and US financial and scientific help. The work was meant to develop vaccines, gradually morphing into military research. The Wuhan lab is now run by China’s People's Liberation Army under General Chen Wei, an expert in biochemical weapons and bioterrorism. Vaccines are a commercial venture. Getting China to sign the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention is one objective.
Rome (AsiaNews) – COVID-19, which is killing and infecting people all over the world, is not a naturally occurring virus; instead, it was created in Wuhan, in a level-4 biosafety laboratory. Not only Chinese, but also French and US scientists contributed to the production of this "chimera," an organism created in a lab.

Trump: "Our government's first duty is to its people, to our citizens - to serve their needs, to ensure their safety, to preserve their rights, and to defend their values."

Roger Kimball writes,
I am not sure I have ever heard Joe Biden utter the word “sovereignty.” But Donald Trump spoke about it often. In his first speech to the United Nations’ General Assembly in September 2017, he said to a startled roomful of diplomats that “we are renewing this founding principle of sovereignty.”
Our government’s first duty is to its people, to our citizens—to serve their needs, to ensure their safety, to preserve their rights, and to defend their values. As President of the United States, I will always put America first, just like you, as the leaders of your countries will always, and should always, put your countries first.
All responsible leaders have an obligation to serve their own citizens, and the nation-state remains the best vehicle for elevating the human condition.
Perhaps the most disturbing aspect of that speech was the shocked horror that it provoked among the entrenched globalist establishment for whom the whole idea of nation-states and patriotic allegiance to one’s country seems like a barbaric affront to common decency. Imagine, a president of the United States declaring his intention to foster the well-being and prosperity of his own citizens!

The Holy Spirit

Chelsea Kight writes,
...The Holy Spirit is the presence of God in the life of a believer. But this does not mean God separates Himself into three separate parts.
For Christians, the experience of eternal life does not begin at death but when they trust in Jesus and God places His spirit within them.
Throughout the Bible, the Holy Spirit equips people for ministry, gives people specific insight and wisdom, teaches people how to interpret God’s Word, communicates with the Father on people’s behalf, and empowers Christians to live according to God’s design.
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law” (Galatians 5:22-23).
The Holy Spirit is unique and creative. The more you learn about Him, the easier it is to recognize His presence in your life.
The daily experience of living life as a Christian requires qualities that only God can give. The fruit of the Spirit mentioned above are some of those qualities, but believers also need resilience and a continual thirst to know God more deeply. They need to be changed daily to become more like Jesus. God achieves this by coming to live within them, in the form of the Holy Spirit, and then cultivating those qualities from within.
The Holy Spirit is dynamic and knowable. The more you allow Him to guide and direct your life, the more you will become like Christ and experience the love of your Father in heaven.

Witnessing acts of war!

Naomi Wolf writes,
...Since I first started reading the reports produced by the 3000 medical and scientific experts of the WarRoom/DailyClout Pfizer Documents Research Volunteers team, based on the 55000 Pfizer documents released under court order, I knew I was seeing not just medicine gone wrong, not just a greedy pharmaceutical company and a regulatory agency that was fully corrupted, but rather, or additionally, I was seeing a massive act of war.
When I saw the eighteen months’ worth of sudden deaths, slow deaths, encephalies, strokes, heart attacks, pericarditis, myocarditis, Guillain Barre, Bell’s palsy, MS, blood clots, lung clots, leg clots, blue-green breast milk, spontaneous abortions, stillbirths, neonatal seizures, neonatal multi-organ system failure, liver damage, kidney damage, suppressed lactation, suppressed sperm count, disrupted menses, all detailed the Pfizer documents; when I saw the fact that 34,000 plus of the 42000 plus adverse events “cases” itemized in the worldwide rollout of the Pfizer injections, were sustained in the US — with the next largest group being sustained in Western Europe - and that the 56 countries around the world that also had Pfizer injections rolled out, amounted for only a bit over 7000 adverse events total — I knew I was seeing not just medicine gone wrong on a massive scale, but rather that I was seeing an act of war.
When I saw the doubling of neonatal deaths in country after country, the rise of 34% above normal in stillbirths and spontaneous abortions for vaccinated versus unvaccinated mothers; when I saw that 3816 vaccinated women in the VAERS database lost their babies — 57% of all the neonatal deaths in all the time that VAERS records had been kept; when I saw that of 36 pregnancies followed in the Pfizer documents, 28 of the babies died; when I saw the rise of 40 per cent in death rates and the shocking rise in cases of disability in the West, I knew I was not seeing just medicine gone wrong on a massive scale, but that I was witnessing an act of war.
When I saw that you could boost the lethality or the damage caused by the injection by simply changing how dilute the solution is, or simply by reassigning which brand you use - with Moderna (100 mcg) far more damaging than Pfizer (30 mcg) — I knew that I was seeing not just medicine gone wrong on massive scale, but an act of war.
When I saw a study out of Hong Kong in 2021 — a study that, of course, was answerable to the CCP — that revealed that a second dose (a “booster”) into the bloodstreams of mice, resulted in visibly enlarged hearts with white patches that could be seen by the naked eye, as well as cytokine storms and liver damage, I realized that the two-dose regime and then the “boosters” were slow but progressive ways to damage and then destroy the health of Western patients. The study concluded: “Post-vaccination myopericarditis is reported after immunization with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccines.”
And yet with this CCP-overseen finding, that by injecting mammals with the MRNA vaccine, their hearts were visibly damaged, the worldwide injection program kept going.
We were told that Pfizer/BioNTech is a German company. But it is actually a German-Chinese company. Since I first found that Pfizer/BioNTech had an MOU with Fosun Pharmaceuticals, a major CCP-linked pharmaceutical company based in Shanghai, to make the Pfizer/BioNTech MRNA vaccines, I knew that with a bit more digging I would find China at the heart of these acts of war.
So take all of the above, and map it against the 150,000 plus adverse events in the Pfizer documents, the deadly harms to reproduction, the Western baby die-off, the babies in seizures; map it against the population drop, the rise in disabilities, map it against the rigid, cruel vaccine mandates aimed at Western defense forces (Canada’s, and Australia’s and all of Western Europe’s, as well as at the most powerful military in the world, that of the United States) — map it against the vaccine mandates aimed at our police, our health care workers, our firefighters, our pilots, our first responders, our kids, our babies — all this done by a White House captive, via Hunter Biden’s laptop, to the CCP. Add to all of this the evidence of birth rates declining, especially in the West, by 12-20 per cent:

Keeping it quiet

Beth Whitehead reports,
Discontent with left-wing policy failures is triggering massive protests all over the world. Just don’t expect to read all about it in the New York Times.
If you skim the front pages of major corporate news outlets, you’ll find no mention of the economic protests raging in Spain, Morocco, Greece, and the United Kingdom.
On The Washington Post homepage these days, you’ll find headlines such as, “How To Deal With A Chatty Coworker Who Won’t Get Out Of Your Office,” but you won’t find mention of the more than 100,000 people protesting in Madrid. You’ll find the story of a gay union entitled, “What’s Two ‘Yentas’ Plus One Senator? A Lifetime Together” at The New York Times, but you won’t see a single heading on the more than 10,000 protesters in Athens. Corporate media has largely glossed over the tens of thousands of farmers in the Netherlands who clogged up roadways and distributions centers by holding Canadian-trucker-convoy-style demonstrations to protest radical climate policies.
According to the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, which records protests worldwide, 11 countries are currently seeing protests of more than 1,000 people in response to the rising cost of living and other economic woes in 2022. As of July 5, Carnegie had recorded protests of more than 120,000 people in France, 100,000 in Spain, 10,000 in Greece, 10,000 in Kazakhstan, 10,000 in Sri Lanka, 10,000 in India, 5,000 in Iran, 5,000 in Peru, 1,000 people in Argentina, 1,000 in Morocco, and 1,000 in the U.The media only highlight these world protests when they grow too big to ignore or when the facts can be skewed toward their preferring narratives. Cherry-picking which protests to highlight gives media cover to paint them as isolated incidents in non-Western countries instead of a worldwide trend showing the consequences of embracing left-wing policies. After all, Biden is making the same blunders in the United States, and corporate media can’t have Americans connecting those dots.K.

Joe Rogan accuses Trump of being a "man baby" who is on adderall!

Carolyn Ortiz reports,
On last Thursday’s edition of The Joe Rogan Experience, the Spotify host spoke with fellow comedian Tom Segura. Segura was on to promote his new book, I’d Like to Play Alone, Please, but the conversation quickly turned to politics and Trump.
“The thing that is incredible about that guy is that, you know, I’m saying even when you watch him as president, he was full of fucking energy — full of it every day. And they said he slept like four hours a night. He’s one of those people,” Segura said.
“He’s on Adderall,” Rogan proclaimed. “Do you think he’s on Adderall?”
“Yes, I do — only because there were multiple people who used to work on The Apprentice that were like, ‘He was fucking gassed up for shoots,'” Segura said.
“Yeah. Cause he has trouble reading. He doesn’t — he would struggle to read prompter or script when he was just, uh, let’s say ‘sober.’ So they would give him that and he would dial in more on reading,” Segura added.

“If it smells like a rat, looks like a rat, and behaves like a rat, it is overwhelmingly likely that it is a rat.”

Roger Kimball has some thoughts about the way the New York Times is covering the role of Ray Epps in the events of January 5 and 6.
Feuer’s embarrassing piece in the Times at first seemed inexplicable. Why would the Times seek to exonerate, or at least to drum up sympathy for, someone who was caught on video urging the crowd to break into the Capitol? The whole thing seemed like a higher-order hermeneutical conundrum. Until, that is, one recognizes that Epps might just be a sort of double agent, an agent provocateur, laboring not on behalf of Trump’s supporters but his enemies. Then it all begins to make sense.

Real world consequences of green extremism

Hugo Gurdon writes,
Extreme environmentalism is an ideology that cares little for human life, even regards it as a blight on the Earth that should be reduced. Its instinctive sympathies are against our species. It wants less economic growth, less entrepreneurial spirit, less development, less energy, less safety, less food, less comfort.
So, who doesn’t suffer? Our enemies, China in particular, that watch our self-harming foolishness with delight and perhaps a little astonishment. Beijing, which in recent years built more coal-fired power stations than the rest of the world combined, sits back and watches as the slf-doubting, self-hating West cedes its prosperity and global leadership.

What Democrats do not realize about the religious faith of many Americans

David French writes,
The disproportionate secularization of white Democrats represents a danger for the Democratic Party, for the country, and for American religion. The danger for the Democrats is clear. America may be more secular than it’s been in generations, but it is still a quite religious country. It’s far more religious than any European nation. It’s far more religious than Canada or the rest of the anglosphere nations. And it’s going to remain extraordinarily religious for the foreseeable future.

So it is Orwellian for Newsom to brag about a "free" California that supposedly will entice Floridians or Texans. The Fourth Branch of Government

Sundance writes,
we pick up the expansive and weaponized intelligence system as it manifests after 9/11/01, and my goal is to highlight how the modern version of the total intelligence apparatus has now metastasized into a Fourth Branch of Government. It is this superseding branch that now touches and influences every facet of our life.
I am going to explain how the Intelligence Branch works: (1) to control every other branch of government; (2) how it functions as an entirely independent branch of government with no oversight; (3) how and why it was created to be independent from oversight; (4) what is the current mission of the IC Branch, and most importantly (5) who operates it.

Confirmed election illegalities and irregularities

John Solomon reports,
Here are 21 important revelations uncovered by Just the News over the last 18 months of reporting, complete with substantiating evidence and links:
Illegal ballot drop boxes. A Foreign Intrusion. Federal authorities have confirmed that two Iranian nationals successfully hacked into a state computer election system, stole 100,000 voter registrations and used the data to carry out a cyber-intimidation campaign.
The Laptop Lie
“The Zuckerberg-funded CTCL/ Zuckerberg 5 scheme would prove to be an effective way to accomplish the partisan effort to 'turnout' their desired voters and it was done with the active support of the very people and the governmental institution (WEC) that were supposed to be guarding the Wisconsin elections administrative process from the partisan activities they facilitated,” Justice Michael Gableman wrote.
Illegal ballot harvesting in Wisconsin
Ballot harvesting probe in the Peach State
A review of Maricopa County's mail-in ballots in Arizona's 2020 presidential election estimated that more than 200,000 ballots with signatures that did not match voter files were counted without being reviewed, more than eight times the number the county acknowledged.
50,000 Arizona ballots called into question. An extensive audit by Arizona’s Senate officially called into question more than 50,000 ballots cast in the 2020 election, including voters who cast ballots from residences they had left. The tally in question is nearly five times the margin of Joe Biden’s victory in the state.
Foreign voters found on Texas rolls
Foreign voters found on Georgia rolls.
More noncitizen voters. The Gableman investigation in Wisconsin also found noncitizens had made it onto the state voters rolls in violation of state law.
Election Machine Vulnerabilities
Ballot chain of custody issues
Fulton County irregularities.
Errant vote counting
Dirty voter rolls. Michigan’s
Illegal exemptions from voter ID. The Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled as many as 200,000 voters were allowed to illegally skip voter ID for absentee ballots by claiming they were indefinitely confined by COVID when there was no such legal authority to do so. Biden beat Trump by about 20,000 votes in the state.
Uneven enforcement of election laws.
More illegal harvesting.
Voter fraud in Michigan
Still more nursing home fraud

Two, we are putting at the disposal — or sending at the disposal of your administration over 1,000 kilometers of gas pipelines throughout the southern border with Mexico to transport gas from Texas to New Mexico, Arizona, and California for a volume that can generate up to 750 megawatts of electric energy and supply about 3 million people.
In our country, we shall continue producing oil throughout the energy transition. With the U.S. investors, we are going to be establishing gas-liquefying plants, fertilizer plants, and we shall continue promoting the creation of solar energy parks in the state of Sonora and other border states as well.

Musk and Trump turn their sights on each other!

Becky Noble has an idea as to why Donald Trump remains so popular with Republican voters.
It is perhaps one of the things that supporters of former President Donald Trump love about him the most. No matter who it is, when he feels he has been wronged, Donald Trump fights back. And in a way, he has taught conservatives that it is OK to fight back.
It’s a very different style from the usual Republican, who apologizes for their beliefs and sucks up to the media in the false belief that they will be treated fairly.
Trump’s latest back and forth is with SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Here are two guys who did not get to where they are in life by being passive, now turning their sights on each other.

As the Hunter Biden story continues to explode in scandal and scope, it’s becoming impossible to hide. Even if Fake News and Big Tech keep up their efforts to suppress it, it’s so vast and egregious that it’s going to erupt into a campaign issue in the fall — and Democrats can’t have that.

Why the Democrats will drop Biden

Ace of Spades writes,
The Democrats will drop Biden and attempt to blame the Democrats' failure on Biden's flaws -- he was too old, wasn't a "good messenger," was "too detached," didn't "manage the bureaucracy effectively," etc. They will attempt to claim that the failure of the Biden Administration was due to the single factor of Joe Biden specifically -- but that all the other parts of it, from abortion on demand to the woke military to crushing the economy through lockdowns and the Green New Deal and ruinous spending and all the rest of it were just great.

UN Human Rights Report Shows Ukraine Military Used Nursing Home Residents as Human Shields

The headline is from an article by Sundance
A quietly released study from the U.N. Human Rights Commissioner [See Here pdf] looking into allegations of war crimes conducted during the Ukraine -vs- Russia conflict, specifically looked into allegations of Russian military targeting a nursing home facility in the eastern region of Luhansk.
What the UN investigation revealed was that Ukraine military soldiers had intentionally used the nursing home as an active base to launch military strikes against Russian forces. The Associated Press was forced to reveal, “Ukraine’s armed forces bear a large, and perhaps equal, share of the blame for what happened in Stara Krasnyanka, which is about 580 kilometers (360 miles) southeast of Kyiv. A few days before the attack, Ukrainian soldiers took up positions inside the nursing home, effectively making the building a target.”
The issue of the Ukraine military, intentionally and with purposeful forethought, using civilian locations to embed their military units, highlights the inherent dangers associated with western propaganda during the conflict. In fact, the effort to create civilian casualties seems more purposeful as a strategy to gain western media support and create stories that can be used to advance sympathy toward Ukraine, even if it means putting their own civilians in harm’s way.

Go for it, Gavin!

Dave Seinara writes,
California governor Gavin Newsom attempted to troll Florida on July 4 with a 30-second advertisement, run on Fox News, attacking Sunshine State governor Ron DeSantis for supposedly denying Floridians their freedom. Pretty rich, given that DeSantis is running for reelection using the motto Keep Florida Free, and has a 20-plus point lead over both of his potential opponents, according to the most recent state poll. The Newsom–DeSantis feud could be a preview of the 2024 presidential election, so it’s worth unpacking his critique.
“Freedom is under attack in your state,” Newsom says in the ad, which ran in Florida. “Republican leaders, they’re banning books. Making it harder to vote, restricting speech in classrooms, even criminalizing women and doctors,” Newsom said. “I urge all of you living in Florida to join the fight or join us in California, where we still believe in freedom. Freedom of speech. Freedom to choose. Freedom from hate. And the freedom to love. Don’t let them take your freedom.”
Washington Post opinion writers Paul Waldman and Greg Sargent praised Newsom for the ad, arguing that “few national Democrats, if any, are making a comprehensive case that right-wing radicalization threatens a nightmarish future, on many fronts at once.” And given Democratic jitters about Joe Biden and his would-be successors, Newsom’s growing national profile is certainly noteworthy. But his criticism of Florida doesn’t hold up. When I moved my family from Oregon in 2019, the obvious destination would have been south, to California, but we relocated to Florida and haven’t regretted it. Many of the millions who have come here sought to escape the sort of “nightmarish future” they believe is unfolding in blue states. Newsom’s attacks on Florida overlook this reality—and obscure basic facts.
California was far from free for much of the pandemic. In April 2020, a paddleboarder was handcuffed and arrested for being out in the Pacific Ocean alone while beaches were closed. Newsom put harsh limitations on personal freedoms, imposing mask and vaccine mandates that resulted in many Californians losing their jobs. A paper published by the National Bureau of Economic Research, ranking states on a Covid Report Card, had Florida sixth-best in overall performance, while California finished at 47. (As Bloomberg recently noted, Florida’s age-adjusted Covid mortality rates are almost identical to California’s.)
DeSantis also fought to keep Florida schools open. According to Burbio’s K-12 school opening tracker, Florida’s percentage of in-person school days was third-highest among the states in the 2020–2021 academic year, while California’s was dead last. Virtual learning represented a massive infringement on both the freedom of parents and the academic development of children, but Newsom was too afraid of teachers’ unions to insist on in-person learning during the pandemic.
Economic freedom is in dire shape in the Golden State. California imposes a crushing tax burden, with residents making between $61,215 and $312,686 paying a top marginal tax rate of 9.3 percent and residents making more than $625,370 paying a top marginal rate of 12.3 percent. According to the Tax Foundation, California has the fifth-highest state and local tax burden of any state, while Florida has the 11th-lowest. Californians also pay an additional 70 cents per gallon for gas, thanks to the state’s highest-in-the-nation levies. According to AAA, the average cost of a gallon of gas on July 6 was $4.51 in Florida and $6.21 in California. And, according to the Wall Street Journal, residential electricity costs 66 percent more in California than in the rest of the U.S.
Newsom’s attacks on DeSantis’s record also repeat distortions, as in his reference to “book banning.” Florida did reject a number of math textbooks in an annual review—some for ideological reasons, others for failing to satisfy state criteria. But not buying books isn’t the same thing as banning them. In any case, Florida’s law gives school districts the latitude to buy up to half their books as they see fit; the state also approved K-5 textbooks from STEMscopes, a company that runs an emphatic endorsement from Black Lives Matter on its website, so it’s not as though officials are stacking the ideological deck.
Newsom’s claim that DeSantis is “restricting speech in classrooms” appears to be a reference to Florida’s Parental Rights in Education law. The law restricts “classroom instruction” on gender identity and sexual orientation for kindergarten through third grade but doesn’t prohibit casual conversations about these topics. A recent poll indicated that 67 percent of parents and 61 percent of overall respondents support the legislation. Newsom is no friend of free speech, either: in February, he announced that he was assembling a team to combat Covid “misinformation” online, opening the door for state-sanctioned Internet censorship.
Newsom alleges that DeSantis is “making it harder to vote.” Last year, DeSantis signed a bill that tightened voter-identification requirements, prohibited the mass mailing of ballots, and banned ballot harvesting. Yet these provisions tend to be popular and were commonplace around the country before the pandemic. Florida’s voter turnout is unlikely to decline. If residents in the state are concerned that they won’t be able to vote, the liberal media here hasn’t found them yet.
Using the powerful imagery of a woman in scrubs and handcuffs getting her mugshot taken, Newsom says that Republicans are criminalizing abortion in Florida. But Florida’s new abortion law allows the procedure up until 15 weeks—a more permissive standard than can be found in many European countries, including Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, and Norway. The law also includes exceptions for women whose health is threatened by the pregnancy or in the case of a “fatal fetal abnormality.” It establishes penalties for doctors who perform illegal abortions but does not punish women who receive them.
Americans seem to get all of this. As Newsom knows, California is losing people while Florida keeps adding new residents. According to a Moody’s analysis of consumer-credit reports, Florida gained more new residents than any other state, while California lost the most from February 2021 to February 2022. IRS data from 2020 reveal that net adjusted gross income from California declined by $17.8 billion, second-worst in the country behind New York, while revenue increased by $23.7 billion in Florida, the most of any state. Newsom’s ad may be part of a gambit to reverse this dynamic, but it won’t succeed. And if Newsom wants to run for national office on his California record, Republicans should say: go for it.

Black bodies continue to fall, and the media continues to hide them

Ace of Spades writes about the lack of media coverage of black on black crime.
It's that there aren't enough white perpetrators. The media likes mass shootings because, let's face it, a disproportionate amount of gun crime is committed by blacks, and they don't like covering any crime committed by blacks. But mass shootings are more of an equal opportunity category of crime, so they cover those like crazy. Until they find out the shooter was black or Hispanic, then they drop the coverage like a hot potato. But even the people the media bias is intended to help are aware of the bias, and they sense a darkness in it -- lies always have a darkness to them.

Ace of Spades informs us,
Elon Musk Formally Notifies Twitter of His Intent to Cancel His Purchase of the Company
If Musk walks away without some kind of legal justification he can blame on Twitter, he'll owe one billion dollars in a walk-away penalty. Does Musk really think he can get left-leaning judges to agree with him? Musk gave the leftwing another nervous breakdown by threatening their stranglehold on speech and threatening to delete their power of censorship. They will be out to teach him a lesson. And to make an example for anyone else who considers challenging the Ruling Class. Here's the thing: I think he'd rather a billion dollars that than be saddled with the full $44 billion cost of Twitter. Plus the yearly costs to maintain an unprofitable moneysuck. It's too bad that we won't have free speech in this country, and we'll continue to have Conservative, Inc. fighting against free speech on behalf of their tech monopolist paymasters.

D. Parker reports,
Richmond police chief Gerald Smith revealed in a news conference Wednesday that two "non–U.S. citizens" were planning a mass shooting at a Fourth of July celebration in Richmond. The attack was thwarted on July 1 when Richmond police received a tip from a citizen. The police chief stated that a heroic citizen overheard the planning for the attack, which was to take place at the Dogwood Dell Amphitheater during the annual Independence Day celebration, in a phone conversation. A call to the Richmond Police Department on Friday led to the eventual arrest of two Guatemalan men in the country illegally.

Where to go to get your crackpipe, condoms and lubricant

Dylan Housman reports,
A “harm reduction” clinic that received grant funding from President Joe Biden’s Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is distributing crack pipes to addicts in New York City, the Daily Caller confirmed Wednesday.
New York Harm Reduction Educators (NYHRE), a part of OnPointNYC, was awarded nearly $400,000 in grant money from the Biden administration in May to further its services for drug addicts, government records show. Biden officials denied reports that the grant money could fund distribution of crack pipes, but a visit to NYHRE’s office revealed that the organization still offers the smoking paraphernalia to addicts.
OnPointNYC operates two drug use sites, one of which NYHRE runs in East Harlem. After spending about 10 minutes on paperwork with basic information Wednesday evening, staff at the facility provided a Daily Caller reporter a smoking kit containing a crack pipe, condoms and lubricant.

Are these Americans disappearing?

Victor Davis Hanson writes,
In just 14 years the fertility rate has crashed from 2.12 to 1.64—meaning that both citizens and resident aliens in America are not replacing themselves.
Historically, as Westernized cultures become more affluent and leisured, whether it’s ancient Rome or modern America and Europe, they birth fewer children—even as their appetites for more household and personal help spike.
Life apparently is seen as too enjoyable to invest years in raising children. Americans are certainly marrying later. They are having fewer children—and in their 30s rather than 20s.
Women now make up nearly 60 percent of undergraduate college students. Female professional careers and delaying or avoiding birth are seen as essential to future family incomes.
Given that men who pass on college now account for 70 percent of enrollment declines in undergraduate education, there are far too few college-educated males for the new majority cohort of college-educated women.
The real gender crisis in America are these listless and stalled 20-something men. Too many are still living at home, not fully employed, often in debt, hooked on social media, video games, or satisfying their appetites—and with scant interest in marrying, much less raising children.
Figures on annual abortions remain hotly disputed. But the number of annual reported abortions still ranges between somewhere from more than 600,000 to just under 900,000.
There are historical downsides—economic, cultural, social, and military—to nations that shun child-raising.
They shrink in size, age, no longer believe in transcendence, become mostly agnostic or atheistic, and obsess on the self.

Follow the COVID money!

Jeffrey I. Barke, M.D. writes,
the pharmaceutical industry spends more on lobbying than any other industry group. In 2020 big pharma spent over $300 million lobbying officeholders and government officials. It clearly pays off. The research to develop the COVID-19 vaccines was nearly all funded by taxpayers. The distribution of the vaccines, once developed, was further funded nearly entirely by taxpayers. The record-keeping and reporting on the vaccines is also at the expense of taxpayers, and the new repurposed Pfizer drug Paxlovid, used to treat COVID, has been paid for by taxpayers.

One geriatric president is enough!

Michael Walsh writes,
Leave it to the Democrats, the party of slavery, segregation, secularism, and sedition, which started the Civil War, to nominate and elect a senile dinosaur from the last human-bondage state in the Union. Their appetite for totalitarianism is boundless, as Biden, railing in his dotage, hurling executive orders and attacking the Supreme Court in seditious terms (overseas, no less), proves every day.
On July 4, we're already two days past the halfway point of the calendar; in the northern hemisphere the days are growing shorter, and even as we're enjoying, or used to enjoy, beer (ruined by hipsters and hops) and baseball (fubared) we're aware that winter is coming. We can't say we weren't warned: in 2020, even before he took office, Biden warned of a "dark winter" ahead. Little did we know he meant that all four years of his term would bristle with defeatism, misery, and death, like Delaware but on a grand scale.
Never give up—but never hesitate to change generals when you have to. To equate the fate of our Republic with one man's loss—and, worse, to hold it hostage to his pique—is in absurd and dangerous. Scipio was a better general than Varro. Grant was a better general than McLellan. Ron DeSantis, 43, who has yet to put a foot wrong as governor of the free state of Florida, will be a far better general than Trump, who will be 78 years old in 2024. One geriatric president is enough.
Thanks to the Democrats' Jan 6 hearings, and in particular to the unforced and artless testimony of Cassidy Hutchinson, Trump has been irremediably damaged. America doesn't need a King Lear, railing about loyalty among a superannuated rum crew (Roger Stone, Rudy Giuliani) while a younger, stronger, better man awaits his turn on the national stage. Let us hope, and pray, that the trial balloons regarding an early announcement of a Trump 2024 candidacy, designed to cut the legs out from underneath any challengers, are just so much Fourth of July hot air, to be borne aloft and away before the last hot dog dies.
Fight on, but fight the next war, not the last one. Winter's on its way, and while the graveyards may be full of indispensable men, we're not ready for the cemetery yet. Have a happy Independence Day, America, and many more—if you can keep it.

Why can't we recruit?

Kurt Schlichter writes,
Here's a little leadership secret that's actually not a secret at all to competent commissioned and non-commissioned officers. There are no bad cohorts of soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines, Coast Guardsmen and whatever the hell Space Force people are called. There are only bad leaders, and we have the worst military leadership in American history, starting right at the top with a commander-in-chief who is less like Ike than Beavis.
In fact – and this rips me up to say because I would not trade my about 27 years in the Army for anything – the reluctance to enlist of the traditional, normal Americans who are most likely to serve and who are the most desirable for service, is entirely rational. You do have an obligation to serve your country in some way, the military being the highest and best way for those who are able. But you do not have an obligation to do so if your life is going to be squandered by a leadership whose strategies are a disaster, whose priorities are not the defense of this country but some sort of bizarre pan-global progressive ideology, and who will use you as a guinea pig in freakish and morally bankrupt social experiments, all while failing to fulfill even the most basic obligations of the leaders to the led. Our military today is failing to meet its recruiting goals because it has failed to earn the trust of normal Americans who would otherwise be inclined to raise their hands.

Democracy is dying in media darkness!

Victor Davis Hanson writes,
There is no border. For two years, Joe Biden, again in true revolutionary fashion, has simply abrogated federal immigration law by fiat. In less than two years, he has welcomed 3 million illegal aliens without audit—or COVID-19 tests or vaccinations—during a pandemic in which unvaccinated federal employees and military personnel faced dismissal. Biden had taken an oath of office to faithfully execute the laws of the United States, but then shortly thereafter destroyed immigration laws as we knew them. No prior president has simply rendered an entire corpus of law null and void.
...The common denominators are not principles—but only the retention of power, and the notion that law is fluid and gains legitimacy only when advancing leftist dogma.
So yes, let us fear that democracy is dying in media darkness. Real insurrectionists are seeking to dismantle the Constitution, to end centuries-long customs and traditions, to justify the use of political violence, and to disobey all the laws they find inconvenient.

Ann Coulter on having unprotected sex with men you don't want to have children with!

Ann Coulter writes,
According to the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute, 930,160 abortions are performed in the U.S. every year. The lion’s share of those abortions occur in states that Biden won. Sixty-eight percent of all abortions are performed in blue states and 32% in red states, according to the CDC.
Also according to Guttmacher, 54% of all abortions already are “medication abortions,” i.e. accomplished with pills given within the first 10 weeks of pregnancy. Good luck trying to ban that: The combined power of federal law enforcement — the FBI, the DEA, Customs and Border Protection and the U.S. military — plus state law enforcement can’t even keep fentanyl out of the country.
...a lot of the red state “bans” will still permit abortion in the first trimester. Guess how many abortions take place in the first trimester? Ninety-two percent, according to the CDC. Forty-three percent occur in the first six weeks of pregnancy.
...This is the terrifying future that led thousands of abortion hobbyists to rush into the streets last week and scream at us about their uteruses. (Uteri?). All because up to 100,000 ladies won’t be able to get drive-through abortions if they have unprotected sex with men they don’t want to have children with, and they didn’t notice that they live in Louisiana.

The truth about cannabis

A California physician warns us,
Dr Roneet Lev, an emergency doctor at Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego, who tells me: 'We've been seeing the problems for a while now: depressive breakdowns, psychosis, suicidal thoughts, all related to cannabis. The patients are regular people, not down-and-outs.
'I want people to know the truth about this drug. We've been sold a lie, that cannabis use is harmless and even has a multitude of health benefits. It is exactly the same as what happened with tobacco. The industry told the public it was good for their health at first, before it was proven to be deadly.'
In California, hospital admissions for cannabis-related complications have shot up – from 1,400 in 2005 to 16,000 by 2019. In California, and the other 18 states that have legalised cannabis, rates of addiction are nearly 40 per cent higher than states without legal cannabis, according to research by Columbia University.
Studies have shown that frequent ingestion of cannabis can increase the risk of serious mental illness like psychosis and schizophrenia, as well as insomnia, social anxiety disorder and suicidal thoughts.
Experts say another serious consequence of legalisation is the increasing potency of cannabis.
Plants are bred and chemically treated so they contain ever more THC. While an organic cannabis plant produces flowers with about four per cent THC, the items in most dispensaries today range from about ten to 98 per cent.
Regular use of quantities above ten per cent are linked to a higher risk of addiction, violent behaviour and a newly recognised condition called cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome, or 'scromiting'.
'It means screaming and violent vomiting,' says Dr Lev. 'I call it the audible cannabis condition, because I hear the violent screams down the hall before I see the patient.'
Before 2016, Dr Lev rarely saw patients with this problem. Now she sees at least one per shift. Symptoms can continue for days, or weeks, and there is no effective treatment.

BRICS

Sundance writes,
In the bigger picture, the BRICS assembly are essentially leaders who do not want corporations and multinational banks running their government. BRICS leaders want their government running their government; and yes, that means whatever form of government that exists in their nation, even if it is communist. In the bigger picture, the BRICS assembly are essentially leaders who do not want corporations and multinational banks running their government. BRICS leaders want their government running their government; and yes, that means whatever form of government that exists in their nation, even if it is communist.
BRICS leaders are aligned as anti-corporatist. That doesn’t necessarily make those government leaders better stewards, it simply means they want to make the decisions, and they do not want corporations to become more powerful than they are. As a result, if you really boil it down to the common denominator, what you find is the BRICS group are the opposing element to the World Economic Forum assembly.
The BRICS team intend to create an alternative option for all the other nations. An alternative to the current western trade and financial platforms operated on the use of the dollar as a currency. Perhaps many nations will use both financial mechanisms depending on their need.
The BRICS team, especially if Saudi Arabia, Iran and Argentina are added creating BRICS+, would indeed be a counterbalance to the control of western trade and finance. This global cleaving is moving from a possibility to a likelihood. If Saudi Arabia joins BRICS the fracture becomes almost certain.

Crybaby tantrums

Victor Davis Hanson writes,
Currently, loud mobs of affluent, young white women have been circling the home of African American Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas—just 1 of 5 court justices who voted to let the states decide the status of abortion.
Thomas did not write the majority opinion that overturned Roe v. Wade, but then again, leftists have a toxic fixation with blacks who do not appreciate their condescension.
Crybaby tantrums won’t win over the public. These nonstop, puerile meltdowns have turned off most Americans who tire of whiny narcissistic hypocrites.

What is the bigger threat to the future of the country?

Margot Cleveland writes,
Scoring partisan points is not the only goal of the Jan. 6 Committee. Rather, the carefully massaged hearings seek, at minimum, three broader political objectives.
Propagandize Americans About Election Integrity One subtle, but overarching objective of the Jan. 6 Committee is to convince Americans that the 2020 election was the most secure in American history.
Silencing Complaints About Election Irregularities Now, with the committee apparently angling to concoct some sort of criminal conspiracy, the message to conservatives is clear: Stay silent or risk your livelihood and your liberty.
Safeguard the Swamp A third global goal of the Jan. 6 Committee is to protect the establishment by clearly conveying to outsiders that they will be destroyed if they attempt to clean out the swamp and that anyone who assists in those efforts will be likewise ruined.

Making race a decisive factor in public decisions

Joel Kotkin writes,
while Biden has placed racialism — making race a decisive factor in public decisions — at the heart of his political programme, in reality minorities may not prove the Castroite fifth column dreamed up by either the far-Right or their leftist doppelgängers. Minorities are more than genetic constructs; they are people with ambitions, families, and budgets. And sadly, Biden’s policies are not making their lives any better.
Overall, Biden’s racialist focus also runs against a changing demographic reality. When Biden was growing up, African Americans were the primary racial minority. As late as 2005, black people and Latinos constituted 14% of the population. Today, however, the Hispanic population stands at 62 million, far outnumbering the 47 million African Americans. By 2050, according to Pew, the Hispanic population will swell to 30% of the population, more than twice the black share. Asians, meanwhile, will have grown from barely 12 million in 2000 to more than three times that number by mid-century. Taken together Asians and Latinos will account for 40% of Americans, and the vast majority of the racial minorities.
Simply put, the rhetoric around race needs to change. Rather than the language shaped by slavery, progressive Americans should instead embrace what those liberals who dominate our publications and airwaves don’t realise: that most Americans don’t learn about race in college grievance classes but by personal, daily experience. They live in a country where salsa outsells ketchup, Modelo is about to surpass Budweiser as the nation’s top beer brand, and Latin music is the fastest-growing in the country.
There’s also a movement between regions, which is making red states evermore politically influential, as well as diverse. Minorities are leaving the “enlightened” centres of racialist religion — New York, California, Illinois — for the red states of the old Confederacy, Texas, Arizona, Utah and even Great Plains. It’s not hard to see why: in recent report for the Urban Reform Institute, we found minorities have generally done much better — in terms of income and homeownership in deep red areas than in the more loudly “anti-racist” blue regions. In Atlanta, African American-adjusted median incomes are more than $60,000, compared to $36,000 in San Francisco and $37,000 in Los Angeles. The median income for Latinos in Virginia Beach-Norfolk is $69,000, compared to $43,000 in Los Angeles, $47,000 in San Francisco and $40,000 in New York.
The key to ending racial antagonism, then, doesn’t lie in equity programmes, but in economic growth and opportunity. Unity can’t just be conjured out of thin air — people need to feel it in their bank accounts first. This won’t be achieved through a national campaign of penance, or through boxing the country into a racial zero-sum game. If Biden really cares about America’s minorities, the goal should be simple: to help them to find a road to prosperity and financial independence, along with the rest of the country.
