Policy

Sefton to Barr: "hand down indictments no later than September."

In his Morning Report in the Ace of Spades blog, JJ Sefton writes in part,
...the plot to take out Trump is beyond question the greatest crime in American political history. AG Barr wants us to believe that it's his personal mission as a 30-year veteran of the federal IC and LE communities to restore whatever reputation they might have enjoyed, warranted or not. The only way to do that, sir, is to hand down indictments no later than September. And they must include individuals at a minimum as high up as Comey, Clapper and Brennan, if not Clinton and Obama.

The lawlessness, mayhem and violence that we are seeing in America's cities, the very flouting of law and disrespect for law enforcement that you, AG Barr, are appalled by and want to end is joined at the hip to the plot to overthrow President Trump. If you really want to restore integrity to the rule of law, then it's high time to start frog-marching the aforementioned and perhaps a dozen or so others and hand down the indictments. Now.

Barr telling it like it is!

After reading this article in the Daily Caller or watching this video, or both, Ace of Spades is calling for Barr to be the nominee for president in 2024! Read or watch here.

Needed: honest sunlight!

Another important post in the Conservative Treehouse. This time Sundance is telling Bill Barr to come clean.
If Bill Barr wanted to deal with the issue he would not be telling President Trump to stop talking about the corruption; instead he would be holding a large press conference to explain to the American people about that fork in the road.

That type of honest sunlight delivery means taking people back into the background of the larger story and explaining what decisions were made; with brutal honesty and without trepidation for the consequences, regardless of their severity and regardless of the friends of Bill Barr compromised by the truth.

Here’s a big reason why Bill Barr should take that approach: We Know.

We know; the DOJ trying to hide it doesn’t change our level of information.

Regardless of whether Bill Barr actually admits what surrounds him, there are people who know… We know…. You know…. AG Bill Barr shouting ‘don’t tweet‘ into the microphone like the Wizard of Oz doesn’t change the fact the curtain has been removed.

Turn around Bill, it’s time to come clean.

But, but, I thought Bill Barr was supposed to be the one who is not corrupt!

I went over to the Conservative Treehouse to see what Sundance was writing about, and was hit smack in the face with this headline:
Damn, is Bill Barr Corrupt Also? – DOJ Files New ‘Last Minute’ Motion to Keep Comey FBI Memo Content Hidden From Public…
Sundance explains the issue clearly here.

Commenter Esther wrote,
Will say it again, as I keep saying it, perhaps maybe it will stick. There is no way on this God’s green earth that the DOJ can police itself, investigate itself, and prosecute itself. It is a fool’s errand if anyone in their right mind holds out hope this will happen.

Its up to Trump now. There is no more passing the buck about declassifying. For a lot of people, whether there is any justice occurring with the coup plotters and the DOJ will determine if they will bother voting in 2020, no matter what else Trump may do. This is the redline in the sand.

Commenter Athena the Warrior wrote,
Is it Barr or is it another rogue DOJ official like the one who claimed that they were going ahead without the citizenship question?

We have to come to the realization that our government is extremely corrupted and Obama had eight years to load these departments up with deep staters especially in the DOJ, FBI, and State department.

Last possible day, on a Friday after the 4th of July = smells more like a rogue official doing this while people are out of town and fewer eyes are on.

We shall see.

Commenter CTH Fan wrote,
No government body should be able to hide malfeasance and criminality by purposefully inserting sources and methods. If AG Barr is half the man he is supposed to be he should not let this behavior stand.

Sorry Joe D and Victoria T. This now casts a large shadow of doubt on all of the comments you make that try to assure us that justice will prevail under AG Barr’s leadership .

I hope the President steps in here and asserts his declassification authority.

Back to Esther:
HERE ARE BARR’S OWN WORDS and one should consider them in light of all that happened with Mueller’s investigation and his subsequent press conference. Congressman Judge Gohmert , a great no-holds barred patriot has said, The People should NOT TRUST ANYONE WHO SUPPORTED OR ENCOURAGED THE MUELLER INVESTIGATION.

January 17, 2019
“I have known Bob Mueller for 30 years,” Barr said. “We worked closely together throughout my previous tenure at the Department of Justice under President Bush. We’ve been friends since. And I have the utmost respect for Bob and his distinguished record of public service. And when he was named special counsel, I said his selection was ‘good news’ and that, knowing him, I HAD CONFIDENCE THAT HE WOULD HANDLE THE MATTER PROPERLY. AND I STILL HAVE THAT CONFIDENCE TODAY”

Trump should have PULLED Barr’s nomination right then and there. Instead he trusted Joe DiGenova. There are far too many people in the Trump orbit advising him to make detrimental picks in his appointments. Even with McConnell playing his games, Trump can do better and should do better with his choice of appointees.

"...nowadays people don’t care about the merits and the substance."

NewNeoCon also read Ace of Spade's summary of Bill Barr's answers in the CBS interview this morning. This was her favorite Barr answer:
I realize we live in a crazy hyper-partisan period of time and I knew that it would only be a matter of time if I was behaving responsibly and calling them as I see them, that I would be attacked because nowadays people don’t care about the merits and the substance. They only care about who it helps, who benefits, whether my side benefits or the other side benefits, everything is gauged by politics. And as I say, that’s antithetical to the way the department runs and any attorney general in this period is going to end up losing a lot of political capital and I realize that and that is one of the reasons that I ultimately was persuaded that I should take it on because I think at my stage in life it really doesn’t make any difference.

Barr sits for an interview and answers questions (unlike Mueller)

In Anchorage, Alaska, Attorney General William Barr sat down for an exclusive interview with Jan Crawford for "CBS This Morning."

Ace of Spades spent considerable time highlighting sections of the interview here.

"Could not have chosen better!"

Andy McCarthy strongly approves of President Trump's pick of Bill Barr to be the next Attorney General of the United States.
Obama aide Ben Rhodes bragged about using a willing press as the Democrats’ “echo chamber,” and Democratic caterwauling about nearly anything President Trump does will be amplified. The best way to navigate the minefield is to nominate high-quality people who can stand the heat. In choosing Bill Barr for attorney general, the president could not have chosen better.
Read the reasons why here.
