DOMESTIC violence against men has trebled in the past decade, shocking official figures reveal.
A record 5,640 wives and girlfriends were convicted of assaulting their male partners last year — up from 1,850 in 2007.
The issue has become a taboo because victims are often too ashamed to talk about their experiences.
But an MP is now calling for action after evidence emerged the problem is growing at an alarming rate.
Stats released by the Attorney General show 177 women are convicted of domestic abuse EVERY WEEK.
They show 1,850 women were convicted of domestic violence in 2007 but last year the total dealt with by the courts had risen to 5,640.
Crown Prosecutors insist any form of domestic violence is serious and there is no bias or lack of concern when dealing with male victims.
Tory MP Philip Davies, who uncovered the stats, said: “When people think of domestic violence, they automatically think of men abusing women.
“But the vast increase in the number of women convicted of domestic violence over the past decade must not be overlooked.
“We must not forget the male victims.
“Both male and female perpetrators of domestic violence should be dealt with equally harshly by the courts and more should be done to help victims of domestic violence whether they are men or women.”
More than 52,000 women have been prosecuted for assaulting their partners since 2006, the figures show.
This blog is looking for wisdom, to have and to share. It is also looking for other rare character traits like good humor, courage, and honor. It is not an easy road, because all of us fall short. But God is love, forgiveness and grace. Those who believe in Him and repent of their sins have the promise of His Holy Spirit to guide us and show us the Way.

Gun control, anyone?

Jammie reports at JWF that this woman named Barvetta Singletary, who is a Special Assistant to President Obama, has been placed on unpaid leave. Why? Because she shot at her boyfriend! Here is the story:
Barvetta Singletary, 37, who is a special assistant to President Obama and also holds the title of house legislative liaison, was charged with domestic violence in the incident, which police say occurred at her home in Upper Marlboro, Md.Read more here.
Police say she summoned her boyfriend, who was not identified, by text message, and the two had sex. Afterward, according to the criminal complaint, Singletary went to the man’s car with him and accused him of dating other women. Inside the car, Singletary allegedly took the man’s cellphones and his service weapon, demanding passwords to unlock messages stored on the phones.
“You taught me how to use this,” Singletary allegedly told the man. “Don’t think I won’t use it.”
Police say Singletary pointed the gun in the victim’s direction and fired one round.
The man ran away and called police, according to authorities. Singletary was arrested at the scene without incident.
The article does not say what she Assists the President on, but I hope it isn't gun control.

What? Sexual assault goes both ways?
Susan Svrluga, Steve Hendrix, Nick Anderson and Emma Brown write in the Washington Post,
The authors spoke with men who had been victims. One of the things they found was that men do not report, because, as one man told them,
For all the intensity, emotion and pervasiveness of the debate about sexual assault in college, there’s an element that’s often lost and unheard: men’s stories.
The authors spoke with men who had been victims. One of the things they found was that men do not report, because, as one man told them,
“It’s one thing to deal with the after-effect of being raped, but it also was a secondary hit for me — ‘Oh, you’re a guy, how could you be raped by a woman, that makes no sense,’ ” he said. “I was afraid to talk to anybody about it because of the stigma.”Read more here.
It’s very common for men to feel confused, ashamed and certain that no one will believe their accounts after they are sexually assaulted, said Jim Hopper, an expert on psychological trauma who is a consultant and part-time instructor in the department of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.
...It’s rare that men do report an incident, he said. “Any experience of being dominated, overwhelmed, exploited, assaulted — especially sexually — whether by a male or a female is going to be something that males are programmed to not want to talk about,” he said.
The stories men told The Post cover a wide range of types of assault, including men who were too drunk to consent, those who were physically forced into sex and one who was attacked while at a bar.
When a bartender found the 22-year-old sophomore from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire passed out in the back room of her Minneapolis bar, she assumed he was drunk. But when the man took a Breathalyzer test, bar security found he hadn’t had any alcohol at all.
He believes he had been drugged and then raped after someone slipped something into his soda while he was distracted.
“I’ve been drunk once in my life and I’ve never done drugs,” the man said. “And I’m a big guy. The fact that this could happen to me means it could happen to anyone.”
He stopped by a party at his fraternity house and was chatting with a woman he knew slightly. He said good night to her and his friends and went upstairs to crash. About 15 minutes later, he said, she arrived at his room, very drunk and very clearly interested in him.
He was tired, sober, had a girlfriend and had absolutely no intention of having sex with her.
He asked her to leave, but she wouldn’t go. So he told her again, then took her arm and led her out into the hallway.
At that point, he said, she suddenly screamed: “No! I’m not going to have sex with you!” and dropped to the floor, looking around to see if anyone was watching.
His heart stopped, thinking: No one would believe me.
“I have yet to forgive that girl for that,” he said. Who, he wondered, would take his word over hers? “I could have faced much bigger issues than what I would rather do or not do.”

Broncos "owner" says he is the "blood of the city."
The Denver Broncos might have an ownership problem. Pat Bowlen is battling Alzheimers Disease. His son John has a problem with alcohol and drugs. In this 9-11 call placed by his girlfriend, John gets on the 911 line and assures the operator everything is fine, and that he is "the blood of the city," and "friend of the mayor." He also calls himself the "owner of the Broncos," which is not true.

Reprogramming
Andrew McCarthy writes about Ray Rice, domestic violence, and
relentless progressive attacks on traditional values and institutions. Is it an
incontestable fact that (a) there was a crisis involving violence, (b) the NFL and its violent sport must be responsible for it, (c) the NFL has deep pockets, and (d) the NFL should thus be coerced to fund bien pensant activists to perform progressive social-engineering on schoolboys?Read more here.
Conservatives complain incessantly, and not without cause, about Republican fecklessness in confronting the Obama Left’s agenda, about the news media’s becoming an adjunct of the White House press office. But Washington’s political arena is just where the score is tallied. The game is being played, and lost, in the popular culture.

Domestic Violence
In my career as a child protection caseworker and county director of social services, I had many cases where domestic violence was occurring. In those cases, my clients were the children and also the adult who was the victim of domestic violence.
Recently I have found a wonderful blog entitled Walking On, in which a wonderful woman tells how she and her children escaped the abuser and made a life for themselves. I highly recommend this gritty woman's blog to my friends in the blogosphere!
And while we are on the subject, there is another blogger I want you to know about. Skywriter can write like nobody's business. She also escaped an abuser, but not before he beat her during her pregancy, causing her to lose her child. She is now a federal agent, and previously did a career as a pilot. You will enjoy both of these bloggers immensely, as they are both individuals of substance, who are living very worthwhile lives.
My own wife was the victim of domestic violence in her first marriage. He was convicted of false imprisonment. We have later learned that he taught his oldest son to touch his sister's private parts when he was seven and she was two. He is living underground to escape prosecution for his crimes against his own children.
Of course, abuse is not confined to the male species. Males can be victims of females as often as females are of males, in my experience. Certainly children are abused and/or neglected as often by their mothers as by their fathers. Sexual abuse of children is thought by our society only to be done by males. My experience, though, is that females perpetrate as often as males. You would never know it by visiting convicted sex offenders in prison. About 90 percent of them are males.
