Let Us Not Forget

Sixty-four years ago today our troops landed on the beach at Normandy in the face of "withering machine gun fire." Twenty-nine thousand died, and over one hundred thousand were wounded or missing by the time our troops left the peninsula. The people we saved from Hitler remain free today. The photo and figures come from the Neptunus Lex blog, which concludes,
Every year there are fewer of them.

Let us not forget.

Not in my household. In fact, we re read Patton's statements on June 6. It' a tradition to acknowledge what our soldiers have done for us. I have say the first stanz of Toby Keith's Courtesy of the Red, White & Blue so often says it for me.
