What's for dinner?

A little excitement to start the day. Colleen took out the trash. Under one of the trash cans appeared a five-foot long rattlesnake. Colleen tried to get it to just leave, but it kept coming back to the trash cans area. So Colleen got out the shovel and the snake started spewing venom everywhere. Colleen prevailed, as I could have warned the snake, except I was sound asleep.

Rattlesnake tonight

Outside the building where I was cleaning eggs this evening crept this friendly rattlesnake.

Oldest son saw it, got his shovel, and took care of it.

Relocating a rattlesnake

Tonight I was talking with my son Jon on the phone. He was outside his house in New Mexico walking their horse named Pony. A five foot long rattlesnake did not like the horse, and began to rattle just a few feet away. Jon called his mother, who placed a barrel over the rattlesnake and put a board on top, then lifted the barrel onto the back of the pickup truck and headed down the remote country road to relocate the critter. Let's hope there are no neighboring ranchers who have earned bad karma.
