Sixteen Democrats Sign Letter Vowing to Vote Against Nancy Pelosi's Bid To Become Speaker Again
—Ace of Spades
A candidate for Speaker of the House needs 218 votes. Assuming all Republicans vote against Nancy Pelosi (an assumption we shouldn't make, because Trump claims he'll get Republicans to vote for Pelosi), then she can only afford to lose 15 Democrat votes out of the 233 they have.
Sixteen Democrats signed a letter stating they will vote against Pelosi, and three other Democrats have vowed to vote against her previously.
So unless Trump actually does convince Republicans to vote for Pelosi -- which would make her Speakership illegitimate to many Democrats (whoopsie) -- she can't win at the moment.
This blog is looking for wisdom, to have and to share. It is also looking for other rare character traits like good humor, courage, and honor. It is not an easy road, because all of us fall short. "Path" cleared for Ryan to be Speaker of the House

Hard-line conservatives cleared a path late Wednesday for Rep. Paul Ryan to become House speaker when a majority of some of the most disgruntled House Republicans signaled that they would support his bid for the top job.Read more here.
The decision to back Ryan by the 40-member House Freedom Caucus, which has risen in power and stature since its founding this year, came after the Ways and Means chairman spent much of his day courting its support.
“A supermajority of the caucus has agreed to support Paul Ryan,” said Rep. Raúl R. Labrador (R-Idaho) after a lengthy evening meeting.

The GOP has been looking for the perfect “unifying” candidate for speaker of the House. How does “Speaker Gingrich” sound?

Jason Chaffetz for Speaker of the House
Dick Morris endorses Jason Chaffetz for Speaker of the House. In this video, he emphasizes Chaffetz's conservative record, and the fact that he would not be a "dishrag" for Obama, as Boehner has been. Morris believes it would be comparable to the Gingrich takeover of 1993. He urges all of us to contact our representative in Congress, and gives the phone number: 202 224-3121.
