Some Questions for Hillary

Hillary Clinton goes to a primary school in New York to talk about the world. After her talk she offers a question time.

One little boy puts up his hand. The Senator asks him what his name is.

"Kenneth," the boy replies.
"And what is your question, Kenneth?"
"I have three questions:

"First - whatever happened to the medical health care plan you were paid to develop during your husband's eight years in the office as President?

"Second - why would you run for President after your husband shamed the office?

"Third - whatever happened to all those things you took when you left the White House?"

Just then the bell rings for recess. Hillary Clinton informs the kids that they will continue after recess.

When they resume, Hillary says, "Okay, where were we? Oh, that's right, question time Who has a question?"

A different little boy puts his hand up. Hillary points him out and asks him what his name is.

"Larry.

"And what is your question, Larry?"

"I have five questions:

"First - whatever happened to the medical health care plan you were paid to develop during your husband's eight years in the office as President?

"Second - why would you run for President after your husband shamed the office?

"Third - whatever happened to all those things you took when you left the White House?

"Fourth - why did the recess bell go off 20 minutes early?

"Fifth - Where's Kenneth?"

It's Official: Global Temperatures Have Dropped Precipitously

"Twelve-month long drop in world temperatures wipes out a century of warming

Over the past year, anecdotal evidence for a cooling planet has exploded. China has its coldest winter in 100 years. Baghdad sees its first snow in all recorded history. North America has the most snowcover in 50 years, with places like Wisconsin the highest since record-keeping began. Record levels of Antarctic sea ice, record cold in Minnesota, Texas, Florida, Mexico, Australia, Iran, Greece, South Africa, Greenland, Argentina, Chile -- the list goes on and on."

"All four major global temperature tracking outlets (Hadley, NASA's GISS, UAH, RSS) have released updated data. All show that over the past year, global temperatures have dropped precipitously."

She's Honored

2008-02-26) — Sen. Hillary Clinton, continuing to “take the high road” as she did at the end of the last presidential debate, said again today that she is “honored” to be running against Sen. Barack Obama.

“I’m honored to ridicule him for his empty rhetoric,” said Sen. Clinton. “I’m honored to point out that his universal health care plan is doomed to fail because it won’t mandate universal participation like mine will. It’s a distinct honor to tell Americans that he doesn’t have a clue when it comes to foreign policy, and to deride his naive notion that he can negotiate with the president of Iran.”

The Senator from New York added that it’s a great privilege to allow her subordinates to sling mud at a man like Sen. Obama while she maintains plausible deniability.

“There are so many moments during the campaign when I have felt honored,” she said. “Each time the media and the bloggers write about that photo of Barack in traditional African garb, or they mention that his middle name is ‘Hussein’, or repeat the false rumors that he’s Muslim, or they dote on the worries that he might be assassinated because he’s black. I’m humbled to be participating in this great Democratic tradition at this historic moment.”

Sen. Clinton said the greatest honor still lies before her.

“When I finally receive that phone call from Sen. Obama, and all that soaring rhetoric falls away, as he mumbles his congratulations,” she said, “what an honor it will be to realize that my life’s work as a champion of civil rights will be crowned, figuratively speaking, with the carcass of the greatest black presidential candidate America has ever seen.”

Finally, A Candidate We Can Trust!

It's not too late, ladies and gentleman. We have a third party candidate that we can all get behind. You want experience? She's got experience! You want change? She would change things mightily! You want hope? She places her hope and faith in a true Messiah! You want straight talk? Here it is!

Jungle Mom for President
Since I have recently received so many endorsements, I have decided to not only run for president but to create a new political party! I figure I may be able to get as many delegates as Ron Paul!

I will call my party 'Mom Knows Best'.

While contemplating what will be the platform of my party, I have relied upon all the decisions and skills any mother uses in a given day. The goal is to protect the family, provide for the family needs, save some money, and raise some independent kids!

So, here it is! The 2008 'Mom Knows Best" political party platform!

Protect the Family
As a parent I take my job of protecting my children very serious. Don't you? I mean, come on, if I even suspect that someone or something is going to be a danger to my children, I get out there and take care of the situation first! I don't wait to see if it will cause harm to the kids, I don't ask my neighbors permission, I do not take a poll, and I certainly don't fret about whether or not it is politically correct. Nope! I just do what has to be done!

In Venezuela I learned that in order to protect my family, I needed a BIG, TALL Wall! All around my property. I also needed weapons, bigger than the malandros! (Thugs) The walls were not to keep out my friends. Anyone invited was welcomed! The wall was to keep out undesirables and the uninvited . Basically, anyone who might do us harm.

SO... America needs walls! And guns!!! Simple!

Provide for the Family

We as parents do our very best to meet the needs of our children and even provide for their wants. We work hard, save and spend wisely to do this. It would be immoral for us to incur debts with the intention of leaving it for our children to deal with after our deaths. We may give to charity and the community, but only after first meeting the needs at home. We certainly can not give to others if we have needs at home.

Also, we raise our children so that they will eventually take care of their own needs. We do not provide for them indefinitely. When they are mature, they are able to work for their own dreams and goals. We may choose to help them at times, but they must be capable to live on their own. After all, I am going to die one day!

And, by the way, If I have a need in my home, I do not go and purchase it from my enemies just because it's cheap! Especially if I already can provide what I need. I mean, would you go buy gas from a local gang member if you had a few barrels stored in your garage!?!?! Open up our own oil fields NOW!!! Start building nuclear power plants NOW!!! Stop buying form the jihadist NOW!!! Stop buying from Chavez NOW!!!

So...America needs to meet the needs of its citizens first. Jobs at home, first. Provide for our military, first. Then give generously to those who need help.

At home, when the checkbook says '0', it means, '0'! I can not spend anymore! I need to tighten the belt, cut spending, do without some things, whatever it takes to get by, but,'0' is '0'! No matter how much I would like, the local grocer will not give me food without money. I can't go and make photocopies of money either! I can not write a check without funds! Imagine!

So...congress needs to understand this! You can not spend what you do not have! You do not accumulate debt and leave it for the next generation! Cut costs, limit spending, do whatever it takes to balance the budget. Start by allowing the citizen to keep more of his own money. If the citizen can meet his own needs, he will be more generous towards others. He may even 'hire' a few of them to work for him with the extra money. And do not print money with out funds!

Oh and... get rid of welfare! Teach the citizen to meet his own needs. Do not reward bad behavior. In the case of the truly needy, people will feel much more generous than they do now if they are allowed to keep more of their own hard earned dollars. As it stands, we see many people living on the dole who could work. We work! So should they. Simple really, no more subsidized couch potatoes!

Create Independence

As soon as able, each child should be allowed to contribute to the care and keeping of the family. This creates a spirit of collaboration, the feeling of worth, and a good work ethic for the future.

So... in our communities we need to allow the citizen to use his skills in providing for the needs of the community. Government needs to get out of the way of the innovative, entrepreneurial spirit. This will create jobs locally. These people will feel free to take risks, compete and create! Especially if they will get to keep their money!

Our children need to feel the stability of the home, the security of family in order to give the same to the community. Children reared in such an environment will be qualified and eager to compete globally. They will dare to be the best! They will keep our economy strong. They will invent and create new technology. However, if we provide everything except an education, then they will stay home and play on their xbox! Just like our teens at home. No schoolwork, no xbox! Thats what mom says anyway...

Moms make sure kids are safe, secure, and comfortable. Then we do the best with what we have. So should America. Prepare our children by allowing for parental choice in education. Allow for less taxing so that the family has more funds to invest in their own future. And by the way, Obama, I think young adults can work their own way through college! I think it would be good for them to have to do that! They might appreciate it more then! I mean, we already provide free High School education and look at how much they appreciate that!

Protect the Marriage

Nature itself shows us that marriage can only function between a male and a female. I have often wondered why people who believe in evolution and survival of the fittest don't see this as an endorsement for traditional marriage! Good grief! What are we doing? Trying to make ourselves extinct!

Protecting Life

Each life is valuable and should be protected. Period. The only life that can be forfeited is in the case of a danger to society. The murderer forfeits his own life, we do not 'take' his life. No, it is the criminal who 'forfeits' his own life. This is also true in war. The state has the duty to protect the citizen. Should an enemy chose to forfeit his life by fighting in a war...well, it's his choice. HA! I guess I am pro-choice after all!!!

And , uh, speaking of war... whenever possible, I as a mom, usually allow my kids to handle their own disagreements. If I see a child in danger from another person, then ,yes, I will intervene. When adults choose to disagree, I do not get involved, unless it is a clear and present danger to me, my family, or our belongings. Governments call this 'interests'. We do not need to be the world's police man, but we have every right to protect our interests.

Religious Freedom for All

Even politicians. Yes, they should be allowed to have faith too. I find it odd that all the ruckus was raised at Christmas about Huckabee's add that had a bookshelf which vaguely resembled a cross in the background. Duh? We are a Christian nation. Duh? He is a Christian! But the odd part is that each of the Democrat's candidates openly give speeches in churches and no one says a word.
But, yeah, everyone has the right to believe as they wish unless or until, their beliefs effect the liberty or well being of another.

History teaches us that this nation was founded on Judeo-Christian beliefs. That is part of what has made us the great nation we are today. The moment we turn our backs on those principles we become just another country. Like those of Europe. But without the USA there to save us from ourselves!
God Bless America!
( and Allah is an ancient moon god, not the same as the Christian God!)

So, there it is ! The 'Mom Knows Best" platform!

Thank you!!! Thank you!!!

If Hillary Loses To Obama

"She didnt get beat by the big bad right wing, paternal, God and the flag, big business conspiracy that rules the world, she got beat by the only person in her party who didnt cower down to her in fear. As I said before, the man is to be both thanked and respected for that fact. He won't win the Presidency, but he deserves a medal for his work all the same."

Let's Analyze The Candidates' Handwriting

Handwriting analysis. I saw this article today in the Rocky Mountain News, and found it to be fascinating. John McCain writes uphill, and ends his signature with a period! The author of the piece says that means he likes challenges, and plans to get in the last word (let's hope so). Hillary's signature is by far the most legible of the three candidates. However, she stops and prints her "l"s. That supposedly means that she does not want the reader to see her close up and intimately. Barack does not worry about the details (like whether or not we can read his handwriting). He has his mind focused on the end result.

Do you know any Super Delegates? Ask them how much money they are receiving from the presidential candidates.

From Betsy's Page: "Obama says he is practicing a new kind of politics, but why has his PAC sloshed $698,000 to the campaigns of the superdelegates, according to the Center for Responsive Politics? Is giving Robert Byrd’s campaign $10,000 the kind of change we can believe in?"

Obama's Communist Mentor

Cliff Kincaid writes in Accuracy in Media about Barack Obama's mentor growing up in Hawaii, a Communist named Frank Marshall Davis.
Obama developed a close relationship, almost like a son, with Davis, listening to his "poetry" and getting advice on his career path. But Obama, in his book, Dreams From My Father, refers to him repeatedly as just "Frank."

McCain's Speech to CPAC

If you are like me, you probably had not taken the time to read the speech John McCain gave to CPAC last week. Neo-neocon provides us with a link to the speech. I took the time to read it, and actually thought it was a terrific speech.

The First Time

Here is Michelle Obama's comment that is raising a lot of eyebrows:
And let me tell you something -- for the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country.

Cassie Fiano writes in Wizbang:
Michelle Obama was born on January 17, 1964, making her 44 years old. She's legally been an adult for 26 years, and in 26 years there hasn't been one single event to make her feel proud to be an American? There hasn't been anything to make her proud of the strongest, freest, most generous and democratic country in the entire world? Not one single thing? We've made mistakes, to be sure, but the United States is a country to be proud of -- a country that most Americans love and cherish, are proud to call home, and see as worth fighting for. And of course, Dems like Teresa Heinz Michelle Obama don't see any of that. Without their magnificent selves to lead us, this country is nothing but a jungle full of backwards, stupid hicks desperate for someone to take care of us and tell us what to do, what is right or wrong.

One of the things that stood out most to me was the overwhelming egotism of that statement. Her husband is finally doing well, and now she's finally proud of her country. God forbid Barack Obama never launched a political career, because obviously had he not she would've spent her entire life hating America! But then again, she'd feel right at home in the Democratic party.

But remember, we're never, ever supposed to question their patriotism.

Update: Cindy McCain responded today:
I always have been and will always be extremely proud of my country.

Interesting Timing of Allegations

Want to know how to get over a quarter of a million people to view your You Tube video? How about over 5000 comments? Minnesotan Larry Sinclair alleges that he and Senator Obama did cocaine together in 1999 and that Mr. Sinclair performed oral sex on Obama in the back of Mr. Sinclair's limo and in Mr. Sinclair's motel room in Gurney, Illinois at that same time as they did the cocaine.

Do you find it interesting that these allegations are being made public now, after Senator Obama has won how many consecutive states? Ten? The Clintons would not have had anything to do with these allegations being made public at this time, would they?

Is The Liberal Agenda A Mental Disorder?

It is now official. The ideology behind Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and other liberals has been labeled a mental disorder by a prominent psychiatrist. Dr. Lyle Rossiter, who has treated over 1500 patients and examined over 2700 civil and criminal cases as a board certified forensic psychiatrist, has written a book entitled, "The Liberal Mind: The Psychological Causes of Political Madness." Here are some key quotes from Dr. Rossiter's book.
"When the modern liberal mind whines about imaginary victims, rages against imaginary villains and seeks above all else to run the lives of persons competent to run their own lives, the neurosis of the liberal mind becomes painfully obvious."

Dr. Rossiter says the liberal agenda preys on weakness and feelings of inferiority in the population by:

creating and reinforcing perceptions of victimization;
satisfying infantile claims to entitlement, indulgence and compensation;

augmenting primitive feelings of envy;

rejecting the sovereignty of the individual, subordinating him to the will of the government.

"One Community of Non-Hyphenated Americans"

As you probably know, February is Black History Month. There is an article today in the Denver Post that I really like. Wayne Hare is a black man who works in western Colorado for the Bureau of Land Management. He makes the following points:
Blacks have been a silent part of American history from the beginning. There has been no glory and no shame that was not shared by both whites and blacks.

Nowhere is this truer than in the West, where black Americans fought in all of the Indian wars, drove cattle from Texas to Kansas and beyond, led wagon trains over mountain passes, trapped beaver, formed cavalry units, founded entire towns, parachuted into raging wildfires, been among the most notorious of outlaws and, conversely, some of the bravest U.S. marshals. They've even owned slaves and profited from slavery.

Like every other American throughout our brief history, blacks have been among the good, the bad and the ugly.

Hare then goes on to give some examples of everyday black men who were true heroes. Here are his final two paragraphs:
Black history, American history — aren't they the same thing? In spite of the ugliness and distance that we maintain to this day, our histories have always been intertwined.

Let us celebrate black heroes this month, but someday, I hope, we can become one community of non-hyphenated Americans, solving all the problems that we all share.

Amen to that!

Under Barack Obama's vision for America, the federal government will run vast parts of the economy. Would that make him the first Leftist President? Only if he gets to the White House ahead of Hillary Clinton.

Our Choices in Music

Music. What do you listen to? How does it affect your attitude? Is the music you listen to positive? Is it encouraging and uplifting? Is it about optimism and love? Does it make you want to hold your head up high and whistle? Does it remind you of what and who is important in your life? Does it fill you with gratitude for all the blessings you enjoy? Does it make you feel determined and confident to succeed in life? Does it remind you what you have to live for?

We have a lot of choices these days, and the field of music is one where choices truly abound. The music I described above was the only choice I had growing up. I was always whistling or humming some popular tune. That music is still around, on the oldies stations.

Nowadays, however, teens are listening to music that has the exact opposite effect on their attitudes. Whistle? They wouldn't even understand the concept! Their music is all about encouraging self-pity, the single most destructive quality humans can have in their character. The music that was formerly reserved for stoners is now mainstream for teens.

Wake Up Time

Forty states now have concealed carry laws. However, I don't think many of them allow concealed carry on the grounds of schools and universities. Isn't it about time? We let eighteen-year-olds fight our wars, but not protect themselves while they are on college campuses. How much sense does that make?

Our federal and state governments just do not have any confidence in the people they are supposed to be serving. They are run by liberals, whose ideas have been proven faulty over and over again. It is wake up time in America. We need to take back control of our governments from the misguided liberals.

More Hospital Time

Why hasn't Bob been posting? Was he in the hospital again? Yes, the pictures below are of Sky Ridge Hospital in Lone Tree, Colorado, a first class joint. As you can see, it is appropriately named, with mountain ridges that reach up to the sky in three directions.

Tuesday morning I began having mild chest pains. I had been invited to get together with some Colorado bloggers that evening, and I was not going to miss that. Driving on the Interstate, the pains got a little more emphatic and lasted longer. I reached in my pocket, and, for the first time, tried one of those Nitro pills under the tongue. Whew! That stopped the pains for three hours. Then, near the end of the meeting with other Colorado bloggers, the pains started up again. I stopped on the way home to get some Valentines Day flowers, and made it home okay. The next morning the pains were back, coming about every ten minutes. I reluctantly obeyed my wife, who was insisting that I allow her to drive me in to Sky Ridge Hospital where I had my heart problems in December.

After a day and one-half of thorough tests, they determined late this afternoon that this time it was not my heart. It was most probably something called Costochondritis, which is an inflammation of the chest wall. The treatment? Ibuprofen!

I called Colleen, and she piled the five youngest kids in the van to come and get me. While the nurses were looking for me to unplug all the gizmos they had fastened on me, I grabbed the camera and went to take some pictures for the blog. I've missed all of you, and promise to come check you out beginning tomorrow.

Our Newest Family Member

Yesterday our thirteen-year-old daughter, Kim, decided to reinvest her money from the sale of the last group of lhasa apso puppies. She went with Colleen to a ranch where a man and woman in their nineties live on 800 acres. He raises big dogs and she raises tiny dogs. Kim bought a Burnese Mountain Dog. Here is a picture of Kim with her new baby, who is 8-weeks-old.

Colleen asked the couple what they do on their land. The old man smiled, and said,"Look at it."

Unfair, Unbalanced

Today there were two stories in the Denver Post about the presidential election campaigns. Of course, the stories mentioned that there are contests today in Virginia, Maryland, and D.C. What I found interesting was that there was exactly zero mention of candidate Mike Huckabee. I decided to count the number of times a candidate's name was mentioned. I counted 34 times that McCain was mentioned, 25 times Obama's name was mentioned, including a front page photo, and 20 times Hillary Clinton's name was mentioned. Huckabee? Zero! How is that for fair and balanced coverage? Didn't Huckabee clobber McCain in last week's voting? The old media stinks!

The Democrat Campaign

I wonder how many people who voted in Democrat primaries and caucuses realized that their vote will really only count as 6 tenths of a vote? Forty percent of the delegates to this summer's Democrat Convention in Denver will be "Super Delegates," not elected in the primaries or caucuses. Presently those super delegates who have announced who they are voting for, are going for the Clintons by a two-to-one margin over the new guy on the block, Senator Obama.

Meanwhile, the momentum among the people actually taking the time to vote, is clearly for Obama. Even though the dinosaur media, except for NBC, announced that the Clintons had won Super Tuesday, in fact Obama won the most states and the most delegates. It is hard to buck the entrenched machine and old media, but Obama looks like he will be able to do it. Clinton's campaign is broke, and many of her contributors have already given the maximum allowed under the law. Obama, on the other hand, keeps bringing in new contributions. and huge turnouts everywhere he goes.

Obama is the Rock Star in this campaign. His speeches are soaring. However, as Mark Steyn points out, his speeches are beautiful music, with no lyrics. One day someone is going to ask him, "Where's The Beef?"

Putting Country and Party Ahead of Personal Ambition

Mitt Romney did not build his fortune by throwing good money after bad. He has chosen to stop throwing away his dough on a losing cause.

Hillary Clinton's campaign is in even worse shape financially, with even her top advisors now working for free (or, as "interns," as Rush puts it). Will she match Romney's grace, and put country and party ahead of personal ambition?

Let's Copy Mexico's Immigration Laws

The Flopping Aces blog cites this article by John Lillpop, citing an article by Dr. J. Michael Waller.
"Mexico has a radical idea for a rational immigration policy that most Americans would love. However, Mexican officials haven’t been sharing that idea with us as they press for our Congress to adopt the McCain-Kennedy immigration reform bill.

That’s too bad, because Mexico, which annually deports more illegal aliens than the United States does, has much to teach us about how it handles the immigration issue. Under Mexican law, it is a felony to be an illegal alien in Mexico.

At a time when the Supreme Court and many politicians seek to bring American law in line with foreign legal norms, it’s noteworthy that nobody has argued that the U.S. look at how Mexico deals with immigration and what it might teach us about how best to solve our illegal immigration problem. Mexico has a single, streamlined law that ensures that foreign visitors and immigrants are:

-in the country legally;

-have the means to sustain themselves economically;

-not destined to be burdens on society;

-of economic and social benefit to society;

-of good character and have no criminal records; and

-contributors to the general well-being of the nation.

The law also ensures that:

-immigration authorities have a record of each foreign visitor;

-foreign visitors do not violate their visa status;

-foreign visitors are banned from interfering in the country’s internal politics;

-foreign visitors who enter under false pretenses are imprisoned or deported;

-foreign visitors violating the terms of their entry are imprisoned or deported;

-those who aid in illegal immigration will be sent to prison."

How could they call us racist if we just copy Mexico's own laws?

A Turnaround...For Both Parents and Child

Readers may be really confused at how Linebacker Dude has turned around. His defiance is still there, bubbling very near the surface. I meet his defiance with humor, love and physicality. He loves the physicality. When he gets into the dark mood, I challenge him to a race from here to the couch. I run, while he does his linebacker thing, trying to tackle me and throw me for a loss. Within seconds, he is out of his dark mood and laughing hysterically. No drugs needed. no spankings needed; just a dad who is in good enough shape to laugh and play hard.

Please don't forget the role of mom here. She has also changed her attitude toward him, giving him the hugs and smiles and praise. When the weather warms up, he will be right there with her, mucking out the horse stalls and feeding the chickens and goats, and playing with the dogs and cat.

Duh!

Three-year-old Linebacker Dude is really enjoying his role as Daddy's helper. He feels so much more accepted as a part of our family. He knows I need lots of help, and, since he is Mr. Independent, Mr. "Can Do," he is really trying to be helpful. We have completely changed our attitude toward him. We greet him every day in a way that lets him know we are glad to see him and we value him. It is making all of the difference in the world. Just like the rest of us, he wants to be loved and accepted and valued. Duh!

Never A Dull Moment

Our adopted daughter, who is now four, is a kick. Her bio mother was diagnosed with practically every diagnosis in the DSM, so we know we are in for a wild ride. One of her older siblings was exasperated with her yesterday and asked, "What is wrong with you?" Our adopted daughter answered, "Nobody knows." Later in the day she told Colleen that she (our 4-year-old daughter) had a son who died. We just go with the flow.

This Morning's Sunrise

It is a beautiful morning here in Alaska, er, I mean, Colorado.

God is here with us all of the time. Do we know how to use our senses to find His Holy Spirit?

We Start a New Day.

I did not think we were having much of a sunrise, until I looked to the west!

Since he has been up since two hours before sunrise, Linebacker Dude is taking a breather as the morning sun flows in through the windows. He has been doing a lot better lately, mostly because we have changed. We are no longer forcing him to take his afternoon nap when we want him to take it. Now it is his idea to take a nap, which he does every day when he needs it. Amazing! It has to be Mr. Independent's idea for almost everything, not unlike his foster dad!

Mau Mau doesn't always wake up in this good of a mood. I guess she is an Obama supporter. (Obama won Colorado by better than a two-to-one margin). Or, she might be a Romney supporter. Romney won by almost as convincing a margin as Obama.

BEST DIVORCE LETTER EVER

Dear wife:

I'm writing you this letter to tell you that I'm leaving you forever. I've
been a good man to you for seven years and I have nothing to show for it.

These last two weeks have been hell. Your boss called to tell me that you
quit your job today and that was the last straw. Last week, you came home
and didn't even notice that I had a new haircut, had cooked your favorite
meal and even wore a brand new pair of silk boxers. You ate in two minutes,
and went straight to sleep after watching all of your soaps. You don't tell
me you love me anymore; you don't want sex or anything that connects us as
husband and wife. Either you're cheating on me or you don't love me
anymore; whatever the case, I'm gone.

Signed,

Your EX-Husband

P.S. Don't try to find me. Your SISTER and I are moving to West Virginia
together! Have a great life!

Dear Ex-Husband

Nothing has made my day more than receiving your letter. It's true that you
and I have been married for seven years, although a good man is a far cry
from what you've been. I watch my soaps so much because they drown out your
constant whining and griping. Too bad that doesn't work. I DID notice when
you got a hair cut last week, but the first thing that came to mind was 'You
look just like a girl!' Since my mother raised me not to say anything if
you can't say something nice, I didn't comment. And when you cooked my
favorite meal, you must have gotten me confused with MY SISTER, because I
stopped eating pork seven years ago. About those new silk boxers: I turned
away from you because the $49.99 price tag was still on them, and I prayed
that it was just a coincidence that my sister had just borrowed fifty
dollars from me that morning. After all of this, I still loved you and felt
that we could work it out. So when I hit the lotto for ten million dollars,
I quit my job and bought us two tickets to Jamaica. But when I got home you
were gone. Everything happens for reason, I guess. I hope you have the
fulfilling life you always wanted. My lawyer said that the letter you wrote
ensures you won't get a dime from me. So take care.

Signed,
Your Ex-Wife, Rich As Hell and Free!

This One Says It All, Almost (There Is Actually More)

Yesterday Sunrise

Today we are having a snow day, with the older kids home from school. However, yesterday was sunny and warm. Here is a picture of the sunrise yesterday, followed by a picture of our "guard dog" Lhasa Apso, guarding the pack leader's garden until the daffodils and tulips make their appearances in a month or so. I'll have pictures of last night's snow, as soon as the temperatures get a little closer to zero.

A Calming Influence?

At the parent-teacher conference seven-year-old Jon's teacher described him as a "calming influence" on the other children. I nearly fell out of my chair. Ever since he was a fussy baby, Jon has never been a calming influence. He is many wonderful things, but calming influence is one I have not yet noticed.

We are having a snow day today: no school. So, all seven children are home. When I groggily walked out of my bedroom this morning, I was hit by a remote-controlled vehicle. The person who was remotely controlling the vehicle was, you guessed it, Jon. I surely hope he will be able to find the vehicle after the snow melts some time in June.

Last night he ran so fast across the floor that he crashed into the wall at the bottom of the stairs, creating a knee-sized hole in the wall. Those stairs are where someone is supposed to stop, turn left, and go up them.

We love Jon's creativity, intelligence, curiosity, good humor, energy, and his unfailing kindness to the foster children. But calming influence? I just have to let that one settle in a bit more.

Britain Okays Welfare For "Valid" Polygamous Marriages

How far has Britain gone down into dhimmitude? They are now approving welfare payments for polygamous families, if the polygamy first occured in countries where polygamy is legal (Muslim countries). Here's the deal.
New guidelines on income support from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) state: “Where there is a valid polygamous marriage the claimant and one spouse will be paid the couple rate … The amount payable for each additional spouse is presently £33.65.”

Income support for all of the wives may be paid directly into the husband’s bank account, if the family so choose. Under the deal agreed by ministers, a husband with multiple wives may also be eligible for additional housing benefit and council tax benefit to reflect the larger property needed for his family.

The Gates of Vienna blog opines:
Next there will be “obligatory honor killings,” and government will pay for the burial expenses.

Kicking Can Be A Good Thing

Here's an incredible story for you. Early in her pregnancy the mother in the picture below was told by doctors that she had a cancerous tumor. She refused to consider abortion. The twins kicked and kicked, finally dislodging the tumor. The girls were delivered at 33 weeks. Mom had been treated with mild dosages of chemotherapy, so the girls were born without hair, but were otherwise healthy three-pounders. Mom had a hysterectomy after giving birth. She remains cancer-free. Read the whole story here.

A Child's View

A wife invited some people to dinner.
At the table, she turned to their six-year-old daughter and said,
'Would you like to say the blessing?'
'I wouldn't know what to say,' the girl replied.
'Just say what you hear Mommy say,' the wife answered.
The daughter bowed her head and said,
'Lord, why on earth did I invite all these people to dinner?'

A father was at the beach with his children
when the four-year-old son ran up to him,
grabbed his hand, and led him to the shore
where a seagull lay dead in the sand.
'Daddy, what happened to him?' the son asked.
'He died and went to Heaven,' the Dad replied.
The boy thought a moment and then said,
'Did God throw him back down?'

A Moral Lesson?

A mother was preparing pancakes for her sons, Kevin 5, and Ryan 3.
The boys began to argue over who would get the first pancake.
Their mother saw the opportunity for a moral lesson.
'If Jesus were sitting here, He would say,
'Let my brother have the first pancake, I can wait.'
Kevin turned to his younger brother and said,
' Ryan , you be Jesus !'

"Blogs Do Best At Discussing Ideas"

The other day I wrote a post about the lack of influence of talk radio and conservative blogs on the voters thus far. The Captain's Quarters blog has some further insight.
The blogosphere has influence, of course, but mainly on policy and not on candidate campaigns. They also can help raise money, but not usually in the kind of amounts that give them king-making power, a gap that Lamont's flop in November 2006 aptly demonstrated. Even with the 10-1 advantage in fundraising between the progressive bloggers and conservative bloggers, the actual amounts came to a pittance in the overall totals among the Congressional candidates.

Why do bloggers succeed on policy -- say, with porkbusting, immigration, and other issues -- and not with candidacies? The answer is actually very apparent. Blogs do best at dicussing ideas, delving into detail and utilizing rhetoric to motivate and to persuade. The candidates have to sell themselves. Blogs don't do much as surrogates in those efforts, and as history shows, have a very poor track record in elevating any but the most already-elevated candidates.

Blogs aren't irrelevant in elections. However, they do best in enlightening people on policy, which secondarily may boost candidates who champion them.

Follow the Leader

Who will lead conservative voters to the promised land?

It Worked in New Hampshire

Just as she did on the eve of her surprise win in New Hampshire, Hillary teared up again in Connecticut, on the eve of tomorrow's Super Tuesday voting. Mary Katharine Ham writes in Townhall.com:
She might as well have been wearing a neon sign over her head saying "Women voters, look here for empathy and new, improved, life-like feelings!" I say the tears are just like a talking point; she keeps repeating them for newcomers to the race.

Update: Here's Ed Morrisey in Captain's Quarters today:
Just as with her claims to extensive public service rather than private sector work, the record of her emotional outbursts suggest contrivance far more than spontaneity. Hillary is building a reputation for disingenuity that has begun to rival her husband.

More Trouble Ahead For Israel

Now that the border between Gaza and Egypt has been breached, terrorists are bringing in weaponry. The blog Sense of Events quotes blogger Yoni Tidi, a former Israeli Army Officer.
... high quality weaponry, including anti-aircraft missiles, rockets, and anti-tank missiles, was smuggled into Gaza through breached border with Egypt.

Considerable amounts of high quality weaponry were smuggled into Gaza through the breached border with Egypt along the Philadelphi rout, Shin Bet chief Yuval Diskin stated during a cabinet security briefing Sunday.

The New York Times Did Not See It As Fit To Print

Did you notice that Al Qaeda is now resorting to using Down's Syndrome women? Confederate Yankee posts about the latest remote-controlled bombs in Baghdad.
Two suicide attacks on pet markets in Baghdad today have left approximately 100 killed and twice as many wounded. Both attacks used women "with Down's syndrome" according the the Daily Mail and less specifically, they were described as "mentally disabled" according to CNN.

Both bombs appear to have been remote detonated. These women probably did not know they were carrying explosives at all, and it would probably be fair to include them among the victims.

The ever-objective, ever-unbiased New York Times saw fit to exclude the horrific detail of their alleged mental disabilities from their reporting of the day's massacre. It might upset their readers, and cause some confusion over who the real enemy in Iraq is (George Bush).

Moo!

On the way home from church, we had to come to a screeching halt. Some cowboys and cowgirls and one little border collie were moving thousands of red and black angus cows to a new pasture. Be sure to click on the photos for more details. In the last photo, you will see that whenever there is a crowd, there is always some guy who will try to take advantage of the situation.
