She has been fired and has hired Lin Wood

"Debasement and defiling of the nation"

In his Morning Report in the Ace of Spades blog, JJ Sefton writes in part, "So, while we're all sitting at home, watching our government add trillions of dollars of more debt in a comparative nanosecond to the trillions accumulated during both the Dubya and Obama years as businesses large and small collapse and die, switching the channel we are greeted with the sight of American (or all things considered, anti-American) cities in the hands of bona fide, dictionary definition (dictionaries published more than 10 years ago, that is) terrorists/insurrections burning them to the ground while the "journalists" and gigantic fat-bergs of greed and power-lust tell us that what we're seeing is either a "myth" or it's a result of evil police officers arresting innocent, patriotic citizen protesters. ...There is no difference between the black-clad Antifa terrorists who firebomb courthouses, George Soros who is no doubt financing much of this terrorism, "reporters" who lie to our faces, and the likes of LeBron James and Adam Silver, who allow this debasement and defiling of the nation that made their success possible. In fact, they are quite possibly even more reprehensible and contemptible than the brain dead youth with the Molotov cocktails." Read more at the Ace of Spades blog.

Sefton to Barr: "hand down indictments no later than September."

In his Morning Report in the Ace of Spades blog, JJ Sefton writes in part,
...the plot to take out Trump is beyond question the greatest crime in American political history. AG Barr wants us to believe that it's his personal mission as a 30-year veteran of the federal IC and LE communities to restore whatever reputation they might have enjoyed, warranted or not. The only way to do that, sir, is to hand down indictments no later than September. And they must include individuals at a minimum as high up as Comey, Clapper and Brennan, if not Clinton and Obama.

The lawlessness, mayhem and violence that we are seeing in America's cities, the very flouting of law and disrespect for law enforcement that you, AG Barr, are appalled by and want to end is joined at the hip to the plot to overthrow President Trump. If you really want to restore integrity to the rule of law, then it's high time to start frog-marching the aforementioned and perhaps a dozen or so others and hand down the indictments. Now.

The Soros factor

In the Free Beacon, Joe Schoffstall reports,
Liberal billionaire George Soros has flooded Democratic PACs and campaigns with $50 million this election cycle, shattering his personal record by tens of millions with four months to go before the elections.

Soros ramped up his political spending this cycle through the Democracy PAC, which he created last year to pump large sums into the coffers of other left-wing groups. New filings to the Federal Election Commission show the PAC doled out nearly $17 million last quarter, bringing its total cash disbursements this cycle to $48 million. Soros gave another $4 million directly to Democratic campaigns and committees without first depositing the money into his PAC. The $52 million cash influx is more than double Soros's previous high of $22 million, which came during the last presidential election.

...The liberal billionaire is taking steps to obscure his election spending this cycle. In the past, he made donations to groups directly in his own name. This cycle, he has operated primarily by transferring tens of millions from the Fund for Policy Reform, a $750 million nonprofit in his sprawling Open Society Foundation network, into Democracy PAC. The PAC then disburses it to other Democratic PACs and committees. This arrangement allows Soros to keep his name from the top of donor lists. His $50 million in contributions makes him the largest donor of the 2020 cycle, though only $8 million is coming directly from him.

...The liberal billionaire has also increased his lobbying expenditures. The Open Society Policy Center, his D.C.-based lobbying shop, spent $48 million in 2019—a personal record for Soros. This amount was more than corporate giants such as Amazon, Facebook, Boeing, and Google's parent company, Alphabet spent. The group finished the year as the country's second-largest lobbying spender.

Democrats Warn Hydroxychloroquine May Save Your Life...

In the satirical Babylon Bee,
Democrats Warn Hydroxychloroquine May Save Your Life And Then You'd Have To Keep Living In A Reality Where Trump Is Still President

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Democrat leaders warned Americans today that the dangerous drug touted by Trump, hydroxychloroquine, could save your life and then force you to keep living in a reality where Trump is president.

"This drug has the very real side effect of keeping you alive, and then you'd still be alive in this horrible place where Trump is the president of the country," said Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. "It's impossible to overstate just how deadly and dangerous this president's rhetoric is as he tries to get people to take this drug and make them stay alive under his cruel, totalitarian, tyrannical reign."

"We cannot allow this to happen -- do not take hydroxychloroquine! Then you can die peacefully of COVID-19 and fade into the sweet, sweet bliss of death where you will never remember that Trump was ever president."

At publishing time, Democrat leaders had admitted they also didn't want people to take hydroxychloroquine because then they're more likely to die and vote Democrat.

"It's a myth!"

The satirical Babylon Bee comes to us from the Senate Judiciary hearing room today. 'The Violent Riots Are A Myth,' Says Rep. Nadler As Antifa Sets Fire To Congressional Hearing Room
July 28th, 2020

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Representative Jerry Nadler continued to insist that the violent riots across the country are "a myth" in a hearing today, even as Antifa rioters stormed the Capitol Building and set fire to the very room where was Nadler testifying.

Nadler continued to insist that the violence of the rioters was totally fabricated as the room was trashed, vandalized, and set on fire by a violent Antifa mob.

"The violent riots are a myth," he said as he ducked to avoid getting hit in the face with a brick. "It's just totally wacko to think that there are violent protesters in this country. They are moms, they are schoolteachers, they are veterans, they are mayors. They are not throwing Molotov cocktails or anything crazy like that."

"Look out, Jerry!" cried another congressperson as a Molotov cocktail flew toward his face. "You're gonna catch fire!"

"Nonsense," Nadler said, waving him off as his clothes and hair ignited. "The Republicans just want you to think that the riots are real so Trump will look good. It's all a conspiracy."

"It's a myth. You are not seeing what you are seeing," he concluded in an epic clapback to Attorney General Barr, though Barr and everyone else had already fled the room and Nadler was the only one left sitting in the flaming ruins of the hearing room. "These Republicans are deluded."

Can you believe it?

Joke of the day so far

A joke from Misanthropic Humanitarian:
My wife, Julie, had been after me for several weeks to varnish the wooden seat on our toilet.
Finally, I got around to doing it while Julie was out shopping.
After finishing I left to take care of another matter before she returned.
She came home and prepared to take a shower.
Before getting in the shower she got undressed and then sat on the toilet.
As she tried to stand up she realized that the not-quite-dry epoxy paint had glued her to the toilet seat.

About that time I got home and realized her predicament.
We both pushed and pulled without any success whatsoever.
Finally, in desperation I undid the toilet seat bolts.
Julie wrapped a sheet around herself and I drove her to the hospital emergency room.

The ER Doctor got her into a position where he could study how to free her (Try to get a mental picture of this.).
Julie tried to lighten the embarrassment of it all by saying, "Well, Doctor, I'll bet you've never seen anything like this before."

The Doctor replied, "Actually I've seen lots of them... I just never saw one mounted and framed."

"Hit and myth"

"A lose-lose situation"

In the Center for Immigration Studies, Todd Bensmanm reports in part,
DHS so far has not allowed reporters to embed with the agents on their side of the Portland siege line to sample what the battle might be like for them. But one DHS employee who is there agreed to share impressions and experiences with CIS anonymously from the federal agent point of view. Following are excerpts, in no particular order (language warning):

Transposing hatred for the president
A totally surreal experience. You get large, nonviolent demonstrations where people march, they chant, they give speeches, then shortly after are replaced with a smaller crowd, though still large, who immediately start trying to break into and destroy the federal courthouse. They have transposed their hatred for the president and for law enforcement onto the physical structure of the federal courthouse, and the uniformed personnel whose job is to protect that courthouse. They throw homemade Molotov cocktails, try to set the walls on fire, try to cut and pry through the plywood covering the glass walls, all the while screaming vitriol until their voices are cracked and hoarse. When DHS personnel are visible, they throw frozen water bottles at them, canned goods, paint and gasoline. They try to shine high powered lasers into our eyes, which can cause permanent damage. They chant and spray paint "feds go home" as one of their slogans, and that could be easily achieved. If they could prove they wouldn't destroy the courthouse, DHS personnel would go home. It is that simple.

Catatonic with hate
The law enforcement officers involved are some of the nicest, friendliest people I have ever worked with. From several different agencies, they have come from around the country. Everyone is kind, generous, sharing food, giving each other rides home, and offering to host or show around each other in their home towns in the future. West Virginia, Idaho, Georgia, everyone is supportive, walks around with a smile and a pat on the back. Once they step out the doors of the courthouse, though, they are met with a hostile hatred from fellow citizens I consider unmatched in my life. I have seen mentally ill, frothing-at-the-mouth individuals screaming at people in front of liquor stores or Walmart parking lots, but that is one single, unhinged individual. Multiply that by 1,000 people, standing 10-20 yards in front of you, who also have rocks and other hidden weapons.

As the night goes on, the rioters become so hateful it is surreal. Their voices hoarse, their sentences jumbled, they seem almost catatonic with hate. The unrest seems to draw the mentally ill and drug abusers. Some seem to be both. The officers stand calmly, listening to it, taking it, only making a move if the rioters try to destroy the property or enter the area they have been told repeatedly not to enter. They [the agents] don't even respond to thrown projectiles, merely calmly dodging them. Some of the things screamed at us, ad nauseum:

"Go home! You're Nazis, racists, the Gestapo! Fuck you, fuck your mom, you suck! Quit your job and go fuck yourself! I'm going to get all your fucking names!"

I'm seeing African American Federal Protective Service inspectors, twenty year's law enforcement officer, being called the N-word to their face for the first time in their careers, by a scrawny, pasty white booger-eating communist shithead.

We get more surreal things yelled at us. One guy kept repeating, "You shot my fucking dog!" over and over, but we have seen zero dogs anywhere at any point. One guy wanders down the skirmish line when things are more in control and says, "Why are you shooting at them? You don't need to. Their shields are made of cardboard. There's no threat. No one is armed..." And he repeats that night after night with a backpack full of wildflowers, which he places everywhere.

Much of it is contradictory. One rioter begged to be shot, begged, but then screamed that we were guilty of shooting people. He told us to lay down our weapons and join them, and then said he would kick all our asses.

Unexploded aerosol cans taped to commercial-grade fireworks
The rioters would be overjoyed to get a non-lethal gunshot wound from DHS personnel. They would get to be the person who was shot by DHS during the Portland protests. They would be famous, and be the one who irreversibly turned the tide against DHS and the administration.

Regarding injuries to agents, I personally saw an agent get hit in the leg with a bottle and limp back from the skirmish line. I saw video of another agent hit similarly and limp back. One DHS law enforcement officer had irritant thrown on his arms, which turned them red and caused a burn. Another guy had a firework explode directly on his chest. The use of fireworks has increased every night.

There's no intel of actual firearms. We picked up unexploded aerosol cans taped to commercial-grade fireworks, so rudimentary IEDs [Improvised Explosive Devices] are a thing too.

A lose-lose situation
It is a lose-lose situation. If federal law enforcement leaves, we lose face, but we walk away with stacks of overtime pay, and we get to go home.

Portland wins. They get to say they defeated Trump, and they will have caused tens of millions of monetary loss to their downtown local businesses, and will have ransacked and torched a courthouse in the heart of their city.

Oregon Muse writes in his Morning Rant in the Ace of Spades blog,
John MacArthur is the head pastor of the large and influential Grace Community Church in Southern California. On Friday, July 24th, he posted a statement on his blog announcing GCC's intention to resume meeting for worship despite California's imposition of tighter lockdown rules announced by chief petty tyrant Gavin Newsom. He gives theological and biblical reasons why this is permitted...

The state is not the be-all and end-all of human existence. There are rights (and responsibilities) that exist prior to the formation of any state. If you truly understand and believe this, there is no way you can ever be a socialist. Not consistently, anyway. Once you start yammering, like Bernie Sanders, about health care being a "human right" or housing being a "human right", you're just announcing that you have no idea what human rights are.

I'm not sure what they're going to do if Newsom (or the local constabulary) decide that they need to be taught a lesson. Presumably they've got legal help lined up and ready to go.

So what we have here is a protest movement. We already have one that's been going on for a couple of months, but this one is new.

But unlike the BLM/Antifa protests, here are some of the things the GCC elders and congregation are not doing:

a. Stomping around

Pastor MacArthur's blog post is uncompromising, yet respectful. So I would say that GCC has the moral high ground here. What they don't have, unfortunately, is any elected officials who have their back. Unlike BLM/Antifa, who have their BFFs Ted Wheeler, Jenny Durkan, Andrew Cuomo, and Gavin Newsom running interference for them. The GCC elders and their congregation are out there by themselves. May God protect them.

Another aspect of the GCC protest (can we call it that?) is that it has a definite demand that can be met, i.e. leave us alone and let us worship, as is our natural life. This is not true of the rioters and looters who simply want to riot and loot and throw stuff. I'm guessing most of them are rootless millennials, with no families or children and therefore no stake in the future, who really don't have anything better to do with their empty lives.

What it boils down to is that the Democrats have refused to accept the legitimacy of the 2016 presidential election and this is just them turning the knob up to 11. So their response, interestingly enough, is to set blue cities on fire.

By the way, has any elected Democrat office-holder of national prominence publicly condemned the rioting and looting? I haven't heard any.

But I digress:

After publishing the original statement, Pastor MacArthur added an explanation of why he came out with it now:

"But we are now more than twenty weeks into the unrelieved restrictions. It is apparent that those original projections of death were wrong and the virus is nowhere near as dangerous as originally feared. Still, roughly forty percent of the year has passed with our church essentially unable to gather in a normal way...Major public events that were planned for 2021 are already being canceled, signaling that officials are preparing to keep restrictions in place into next year and beyond. That forces churches to choose between the clear command of our Lord and the government officials. Therefore, following the authority of our Lord Jesus Christ, we gladly choose to obey Him."

Shorter GCC: Gavin Newsome is asshoe and we're no longer going to put up with him jerking us around.

Well, perhaps Pastor MacArthur's didn't say exactly that, but, I'd say my, shall we say, dynamic interpretation caught the spirit of it.

Anyway, read the whole thing. I think it's quite good. MacArthur is a well-known, respected pastor and I hope other churches will be inspired by his example.

Some tweets and quotes of note

Ben Shapiro tweeted,
The media have claimed over the past three months:
1. Cuomo was great;
2. Seattle's CHOP and Portland were paradisical;
3. Mass riots were no biggie;
4. Enormous BLM protests provided no health risk in the midst of a pandemic.
I can't imagine why they have a credibility gap.

In the Motus blog, Math Mom wrote,
I've always believed that God made all of this to entice us to learn, to experiment, and to marvel at his creation. And I think that he had a bit of paint left over and paints the sky with aurora in the winter just to remind us that he is here for us and loves us.

I believe that everything we do is significant, and believing that keeps me from laying on my horn in frustration at a driver who sits at a green light too long, or getting huffy at someone in the store who is standing in front of the refrigerator door in the milk section, not moving. I think it's important to think kindly, speak politely, and show in my daily transactions that I know God loves us.

MOTUS wrote in her blog,
The funny thing is the paramilitary show up more in the bigger city "protests" whereas small college town protests seem less "organized" - which is to say not funded by Soros-like groups. It's as if they can depend on college towns to provide enough useful idiots of their own (professors, erstwhile indoctrinated stew-dents and hangers-on) so they save their ammo ($$) for other hotbeds.

David Goldman writes in part in the Asia Times,
Intel’s chief executive Bob Swan yesterday told industry analysts that the former industry leader in chip manufacturing might quit the fabrication business altogether, outsourcing its designs to Taiwan or South Korea instead. The company’s shock announcement called into question US efforts to return critical manufacturing capacity to the United States, and came despite semiconductor industry lobbying to secure federal subsidies for chip production in the United States. Semiconductors are the building blocks of the digital economy, and America’s inability to slow the decline of onshore chip fabrication is a strategic liability of the highest order.

Willful blindness

Jonathan Turley writes in part in the Hill,
...the Russia collusion allegations were based in large part on the dossier funded by the Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee. The Clinton campaign repeatedly denied paying for the dossier until after the election, when it was confronted with irrefutable evidence that the money had been buried among legal expenditures. As New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman wrote, “Folks involved in funding this lied about it and with sanctimony for a year.”

FBI agents had warned that dossier author Christopher Steele may have been used by Russian intelligence to plant false information to disrupt the election. His source for the most serious allegations claims that Steele misrepresented what he had said and that it was little more than rumors that were recast by Steele as reliable intelligence.

...the Obama administration had been told that the basis for the FISA application was dubious and likely false. Yet it continued the investigation, and then someone leaked its existence to the media. Another declassified document shows that, after the New York Times ran a leaked story on the investigation, even Strzok had balked at the account as misleading and inaccurate. His early 2017 memo affirmed that there was no evidence of any individuals in contact with Russians. This information came as the collusion stories were turning into a frenzy that would last years.

...the investigation by special counsel Robert Mueller and inspectors general found no evidence of collusion or knowing contact between the Trump campaign and Russian officials. What inspectors general did find were false statements or possible criminal conduct by Comey and others. While unable to say it was the reason for their decisions, they also found statements of animus against Trump and his campaign by the FBI officials who were leading the investigation. Former Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein testified he never would have approved renewal of the FISA surveillance and encouraged further investigation into such bias.

Finally, Obama and Biden were aware of the investigation, as were the administration officials who publicly ridiculed Trump when he said there was spying on his campaign. Others, like House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, declared they had evidence of collusion but never produced it. Countless reporters, columnists, and analysts still continue to deride, as writer Max Boot said it, the spinning of “absurd conspiracy theories” about how the FBI “supposedly spied on the Trump campaign.”

Willful blindness has its advantages. The media covered the original leak and the collusion narrative, despite mounting evidence that it was false. They filled hours of cable news shows and pages of print with a collusion story discredited by the FBI. Virtually none of these journalists or experts have acknowledged that the collusion leaks were proven false, let alone pursue the troubling implications of national security powers being used to target the political opponents of an administration. But in Washington, success often depends not on what you see but what you can unsee.

Off-world vehicles

It’s early. Polls are iffy and premature so far in front of November, but this has been a consistent trend -- minorities are not supporting the far-left orientation of the party they once supported in great numbers.

"We never sold out. We bought in!"

Gerard Vanderleun writes in part about his time at UC Berkeley.
...Nope, we never sold out. We bought in. But we kept the Che poster pinned up forever in our hearts.

And now, we’ve arrived at our rendezvous with history.

In our aging hearts, we hate what we’ve become and, like any good group of neurotics, transfer that hate to the country that gave us everything including the Long Peace in which to enjoy it.

We’re the first in line to bitch and moan and hate a country that makes our freedom possible. More than that we’re also in love with the always -denied privilege, comfort, money, and safety that makes it possible for us to mouth off without limit. And finally, we’re coming to understand that we are not our parents’ generation, we’re “The Not-So-Great” Generation, and deep down we’re cowards.

We say we’re ‘afraid’ of losing our cherished ‘freedom’ to the jackbooted legions of Trump’s Conservative Brownshirts that seek to stifle our dissent from every street corner. That’s really what a lot of us think. That’s really just how bull-goose looney we’ve become.

...We like the slogans, books, movies, TV shows, politicians and publications that confirm for us the deep liberal dream that if we are just understanding enough, long enough, apologize for living enough, and offer enough in the way of bribes, the oppressed of the world will come to love us… and then just leave us alone.

...We’re so stupid we’ve even started to believe “It can’t happen here” after it already has.

...But my generation, being eternally drenched in a mindless nostalgia for its weird youth, refuses to learn that. It believes that the cool answer to the great crisis which has been brought to us in the last years is to make a sign that says ” I still heart New York more without the twin towers,” parade about in their plague infected ideology to say, “Give up.”

When I look at the spectacle that my Boomer generation has made of itself, a generation that had everything going for it, that had every opportunity, and came up with Caramel Soy Lattes and “Impeach the President,” all I can say is:

“I resign the Revolution. I’m joining the Resistance. The REAL Resistance.”

The violence engulfing various Democrat-controlled cities

Roger Kimball writes in part in American Greatness,
...Please don’t talk to me about the violent career criminal George Floyd. The cause is hatred.”

Why?

Chris Farrell writes in part in the Daily Caller,
Ask yourself why AG Barr fights Judicial Watch in virtually every FOIA lawsuit seeking records over the Obamagate coup plot. Why does he permit the FBI to claim in court that their agents’ text messages on their government phones are not government records? That’s insultingly preposterous – but it is the Justice Department’s position. Your tax dollars in action.

One thing is for certain: Should Barr/Durham not bring indictments and go to trial against the officials who organized the coup against President Trump, then the United States will become a “failed state.” The compromised justice system would be held in contempt by the people it was designed to protect.

Collusion

In American Greatness, Julie Kelly writes in part,
“We now see direct links between the Brookings [Institution] leadership and the creation, possibly, of the Steele dossier,” Nunes told Fox Business News’ Maria Bartiromo this week. “I think there are real questions that need to be answered here about what on earth was the president of Brookings doing texting back and forth to Steele? They’ve got a lot to answer for.” Nunes explained that for the past four years, Lawfare has “defended the dirty cops.”

But Lawfare—and Brookings—did more than that. The organization helped perpetrate one of the biggest frauds in political history on the American people. They misled the country, attempted to destroy an elected president, manipulated news coverage, and defamed innocent people in the process while covering up the real scandal. Just like every other accomplice in Obamagate, it’s long past time for answers—and accountability.

Hydroxychloroquine is "the key to defeating COVID-19,"

Daniel Payne reports in Just the News,
An Ivy League epidemiology professor is claiming that hydroxychloroquine — the drug that has been at the center of a politicized medical debate for the last several months — is "the key to defeating COVID-19," and that medical officials should be widely prescribing it to save the lives of thousands of coronavirus patients.

Harvey Risch, a professor of epidemiology at Yale as well as the director of that school's Molecular Cancer Epidemiology Laboratory, argues in a Newsweek op-ed this week that "the data fully support" the wide use of hydroxychloroquine as an effective treatment of COVID-19.

"When this inexpensive oral medication is given very early in the course of illness, before the virus has had time to multiply beyond control, it has shown to be highly effective," Risch argues in the column.

Preparing to retire comfortably

From the satirical Babylon Bee:
WASHINGTON, D.C.—After Nick Sandmann settled yet another nine-figure lawsuit today, dozens of people went out in MAGA hats, gathering outside The Washington Post's offices in hopes that they too would be defamed by the newspaper.

The clever entrepreneurs stood outside the paper's headquarters wearing the pro-Trump headgear. They just stood there, not chanting or protesting or breaking anything, a protest tactic that immediately confused the liberals working at the Post.

"It's very strange -- they're not burning anything. They must not be peaceful protesters. Nonetheless, we will not be fooled by this tactic," said a WaPo editor. "We will be able to resist the urge to commit libel against these deplora--I mean, these ordinary Americans."

At publishing time, The Washington Post had written defamatory articles about all of them. They are all preparing to retire comfortably.

Fines for businesses that hang "Open for Business" banners!

In Red State, Kira Davis reports,
Here is a list of things you can currently do in the city of Los Angeles with impunity:

defy pandemic stay-at-home orders to protest in crowded streets by the tens of thousands
throw Molotov cocktails at police
break the windows of both private and public property
burn down neighborhood businesses
tear down monuments on public property
drag innocent commuters from their cars, beat them mercilessly, and destroy their vehicles
poop in public streets
openly use illegal drugs on public streets
steal cars or bicycles
erect tent cities on private property
steal up to $950 of merchandise per day without fear of prosecution…under state law
It’s a great time to be a criminal in the City of Angels, but if you’re a business owner, L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti will find you and make sure you are fined and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for…

Are you ready for this?

Hanging a “We are open” sign in front of your business.

NBC4 in Los Angeles is reporting that an increasing number of businesses have received hefty citations and fines from the City of Los Angeles for supposedly violating permit laws by hanging banners on their businesses to help customers see that they are open through the pandemic.

Above the entrance of the Crave Cafe in Studio City–where business is down 70% during the pandemic–the owner last month hung a banner that says “OPEN FOR TAKE-OUT AND DELIVERY.”

“It really was important because it helped us in communicating to the community that we were still open, and many of them don’t know that,” said Rana Shalhoub, Crave Cafe’s owner.

But Shalhoub found a notice in her mail this week from LA’s Department of Building and Safety, ordering her to take down the banner and fining her $356. She promptly removed the banner.

“We’re struggling to survive. I do think the city should have at least given us a warning to take down the sign, prior to fining us,” Rana Shalhoub told NBC4.

Several neighboring businesses on Ventura Boulevard also got $356 fines for hanging banners saying they’re still open, including the Chop Shop salad restaurant, Fantastic Sam’s barbershop, Trader Joe’s and the Hot Chicken and Waffle Bar.

UNITED STATES - MARCH 29: Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, speaks at a news conference at the house triangle with other members of the House Natural Resources Committee on energy provisions in the House Republican budget.
Tom Williams/CQ Roll Call
Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) introduced a bill Thursday on the floor of the House of Representatives that would ban the Democratic Party due to the party’s history of having supported slavery and the Confederacy, saying “that is the standard to which they are holding everyone else, so the name change needs to occur.”

“Whereas on June 18, 2020, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi ordered the removal from the capital portraits of four previous speakers of the House who served in the Confederacy, saying that these portraits ‘set back our nation’s work to confront and combat bigotry,'” Gohmert said. “The men depicted in the portraits were Democrat Robert M.T. Hunter, Democrat Howell Cobb, Democrat James L. Orr, and Democrat Charles F. Crisp.”

“Resolved that the speaker of the House of Representatives shall remove any item that named symbolizes or mentions any political organization or party that has ever held a public position that supported slavery or the Confederacy from any area within the House wing of the Capitol or any House office building and shall donate such item or symbol to the Library of Congress, and two, that any political organization or party that has ever held a public position that supported slavery of the Confederacy shall either change its name or be barred from participation in the House of Representatives,” Gohmert concluded. “With that, I would yield back.”
