The F.B.I. has been busy!

Ardun Singh reports,
The FBI conducted as many as 3.4 million searches of data in the U.S. without a warrant over the year 2021, according to a new government report.
The figure represented a 260 percent increase from the previous coverage year, 2020, where the FBI had conducted around 1.3 million searches.

He's really shy, don't you know?

Unstable?

The media, which loves to portray Donald Trump as unstable, may be surprised at this endorsement!

Crown Jewel?

Politico's Max Tani writes about the rise and fall of star White House reporters.
Washington reporters have long considered the role of White House correspondent to be the crown jewel of American political journalism. It has launched high-profile television careers, scored countless reporters book deals and been bestowed on media veterans for years of ink-drenched work.
But during the age of Biden, a perch inside the James S. Brady Press Briefing Room has become something altogether different. It’s become a bore.
Some of those covering the most powerful office on the planet say that the storylines, while important, and substantive, can lack flair or be hard to get viewer attention. There is industry-wide acknowledgment that viewership is down. Television outlets have been quick to turn their attention to other stories and bolster other units. There is a sense that the main saga of American politicediarelys is taking place outside the confines of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and that the journalists covering it — Donald Trump and the future of democracy — may reap the career rewards.
When I saw the article, I immediately thought of Fox' Peter Doocy, who has been the most notable challenger to Biden's policies. But you have to read 32 paragraphs before any mention of Doocy! Typical bias from a fellow White House journaist! Read more here: https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2022/04/29/the-fall-of-the-white-house-correspondent-00028272

Who has to accommodate whom?

Daniel Greenfield writes,
This tyranny of minorities has long since come to define the Democrat coalition which knits together single-issue victimhood voters whose pet issue, whether it’s police shootings, green energy, racial justice, men pretending they’re women, or the right of teachers to sexually indoctrinate kindergartners against the wishes of their parents, must take precedence.
Beyond the racial minorities of the civil rights movement, the moral minority consists of wealthy white elites, their sexual fetishes, cultural obsessions, and neurotic tics. Masking is just the latest neurotic tic that the decadent element that makes up its ruling base demands of all of us.
From police defunding to mandatory masking to men roleplaying as women, the outré demands are a minority even within the Democrat coalition. But the minority of minorities, by banding together, take something that only 2% of the country might want and turn it into something that the 31% of Americans who identify as Democrats are obligated to support on the party line.
And if the Democrats win, the will of the 2% is ruthlessly imposed on the 98%.
Each minority horse trades intersectional political acceptance for its cause in exchange for supporting everyone else’s causes. The black nationalists get slavery reparations and police defunding while the men who wear dresses get to be on the women’s swim team. Feminists get abortion until the last nanosecond of birth and environmentalists can have the EPA regulate backyard puddles. And wealthy hipster remote workers can make everyone wear masks.
How can you do class warfare when you’ve become a movement of billionaires whose supreme causes are electric cars that cost more than the average annual income, the sexual fetishes of wealthy men, and the fussiness of remote workers who don’t like being around other people?
It’s getting increasingly hard to disguise the fact that leftist revolutions aren’t about liberating the majority, but about enslaving it to the cultural obsessions of a tiny minority.
Now their masks, literal and metaphorical, are coming off and they fear that more than anything else because power can simply be defined as a question of who has to accommodate whom?

Escalating the economic war of sanctions and counter-sanctions

AP reports,
Russia cut off natural gas to NATO members Poland and Bulgaria on Wednesday and threatened to do the same to other countries, using its most essential export in what was seen as a bid to punish and divide the West over its support for Ukraine.
The move, condemned by European leaders as “blackmail,” marked a dramatic escalation in the economic war of sanctions and countersanctions that has unfolded in parallel to the fighting on the battlefield.
The tactic, coming a day after the U.S. and other Western allies vowed to rush more and heavier weapons to Ukraine, could eventually force targeted nations to ration gas and could deal another blow to economies suffering from rising prices. At the same time, it could deprive Russia of badly needed income to fund its war effort.
Poland has been a major gateway for the delivery of weapons to Ukraine and confirmed this week that it is sending the country tanks. Just hours before Russia’s state energy giant Gazprom acted, Poland announced a new set of sanctions against the company and other Russian businesses and oligarchs.

Impeachable Malfeasance

Bruce Throckmorton writes,
Having done so much to destroy our domestic oil industry, Biden is now draining our strategic oil reserve and shipping it to foreign countries.
This is impeachable malfeasance. He is intentionally destroying our ability to fuel our national defense in a major crisis.
Until Western Europe ditches its idiotic climate religion and shows that it is willing to defend itself and power itself, the US does not owe Europe one American life or one American barrel of oil. If Western European industry shuts down and its people have to shiver in darkened houses, that is the bed they have made for themselves.

Flooding the public square with sewage and preventing its cleanup

A podcaster writes,
Obama’s concern is not that American citizens “no longer know what to believe,” as he claimed, but rather that American citizens no longer believe pathological liars like himself, other Democrats, and the propagandist media, which Obama and the Democratic Party rely upon to spread their dirt and conspiracy theories.
T writes in American Greatnesshe fact that companies like Twitter are “making money” isn’t what really upsets Obama, but rather the prospect of a free speech advocate like Musk—who has both the money and the willingness to use it in this way—purchasing a leftist, activist communications platform and neutralizing its use as a censorship tool of the ruling class.
But Obama and other Democrats know their rapidly diminishing political power depends upon their control of media narratives. Now that billionaires like Musk and others are looking to interrupt their monopoly, Obama wants the government to regulate them.
The Left’s outrage at Musk’s attempt to free one Big Tech company (not even the biggest) from the Democrats’ chains of censorship is really a manifestation of their growing frustration that any platform or individual be allowed to question, challenge, or expose their agenda.
Would-be totalitarians like Obama don’t want to prevent the flooding of the public square with raw sewage. They want the exclusive ability to flood the public square with sewage and prevent its cleanup.

Taxation without representation!

Sundance writes,
Certainly, there is an argument to be made that Ukraine needs the support of the world as they struggle with a conflict in their nation. However, charity begins at home, and for too long our national leadership has been willing to use our income taxes as tools for their own political agenda. The brazen expectation by leaders of Ukraine for the United States citizens to finance their government is, in my opinion, the last straw of a series of straws.
The issue would not be so significant if that request was not also accompanied by the visibility of western European nations, supposedly NATO allies, barely spending any money of their own wealth to assist their direct neighbor. The U.S. financial support is ridiculous when compared to how Europe is responding to the Ukraine crisis.
Compounding this issue is our own American economy and the serious pain being felt by American workers and taxpayers as the spending creates even more massive inflation that we have to cope with. We gained national independence around the premise of taxation without representation from England, and yet here we are again sending scarce income, without consultation or representation, to DC elites who send that money overseas.

Daring to question the dominant narrative

Roger Kimball tries to figure out who is pulling Biden's puppet strings.
It could certainly be more expert. If it were, Joe Biden’s verbal emissions would be less incontinent and more truthful. He would not, for example, say that he had “flown over every major wildfire” in the country. The puppeteer would have pulled up on the mouth string when Biden claimed to have traveled 17,000 miles in the “foothills of the Himalayas” with Xi Jinping.
We still vote. We still have a bicameral legislature. But behind these forms of a free government, the essentially undemocratic activities of an increasingly arbitrary and unaccountable regime pursues an expansionist agenda that threatens liberty in the most comprehensive way, by circumventing the law.
Those claims are nearly irresistible, as anyone who has dared to question the dominant narrative on issues from “climate change” to COVID policy to race and identity politics will know. The question, as I have put it elsewhere, revolves around the location of sovereignty. Who rules? The people, articulating their interests through the metabolism of ordinary politics? Or the bureaucratic elite, who claim to discern the inevitable direction and goal of history and are prepared to marshal the coercive power of the state to prevent anything from cluttering up that highway to enlightenment?

The chosen shills of America's"official" state media

Emerald Robinson writes about the failure of CNN+
The catastrophic failure of CNN+ in three weeks can only mean one thing: the American public has largely abandoned the corporate media as a reliable source of information. Now consider the liberal media’s meltdown over Elon Musk buying Twitter as well. Why such hostility? The corporate media is publicly admitting that they’re the chosen shills of America’s “official” state media — a toxic brigade of Big Tech oligarchs, Biden regime communists, and national security state spies — and their new role is to censor the truth, to spread disinformation, and to serve their masters by undermining free speech around the world.

Putin grips table while his defense minister also struggles

Rachel Bunyan reports,
A bloated Vladimir Putin has been seen gripping a table whilst slouching in his chair during a televised meeting with his defence minister amid rumours the Russian strongman is battling cancer.

Zapping energy to troops from space!

studyfinds.org reports,
Historic power beam energy test paves way to zap energy to troops from SPACE!
WASHINGTON — Could soldiers in the future receive the power for their equipment from space? A team of researchers from the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) have demonstrated the feasibility of terrestrial microwave power beaming by transmitting 1.6 kilowatts of power over one kilometer (km).
The achievement, by a team at the U.S. Army Research Field in Blossom Point, Maryland, is reportedly the most significant power beaming demonstration in nearly 50 years. Microwave power beaming is the efficient, point-to-point transfer of electrical energy across free space by a directive microwave beam.
The U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) believes wireless beaming of energy from space will be vital for zapping fuel supplies to battlefield troops. Scientists are also touting it as the “ultimate green technology,” with a constant year-round supply available as opposed to other “sporadic” green energy sources.

Writing out of both sides of his mouth!

Park MacDougald writes,
The turning point, at least in the medium-term, will be the 2024 presidential primary. Whoever wins the party’s nomination will be in a strong position to win the presidency, and perhaps to enjoy at least a few years of unified control of the government. A Trump victory would not herald the “end of democracy in America”, but it would be a disaster for the country — four more years of chaos, mutual enmity, and partisan radicalisation in which political disputes are subordinated to the private whims and grievances of one man.

A full two-thirds of Americans support full legalization of marijuana!

Arjun Singh reports,
Colorado’s and Washington’s voters approved referenda to legalize cannabis in 2012 — the first states to do so — after which Alaska and Oregon followed. The effort spread from the West across the country, with ten states’ legalization referenda being approved in six years. Currently, 18 states have legalized cannabis for recreational use, with eight doing so since 2020. In doing so, they’ve paved the way for a new recreational-cannabis industry, which has experienced explosive growth. According to a 2017 GQ article, by that year the industry was worth $40 billion, and marijuana had become the second-largest cash crop in the U.S. (after corn).
Support for legalization has crossed party lines. No longer are open cannabis advocates just hippies or young leftists. Per a recent Gallup poll, a full two-thirds of Americans support full legalization of the substance. Republicans, in conjunction, have undergone an evolution on the use of cannabis, from moral condemnation to a libertarian position of passive acceptance, with half supporting legalization and fewer than half opposed. Reforms to cannabis laws have now sprung up in Republican-led states, with Montana passing and South Dakota debating measures to permit recreational use, while most states have enabled cannabis to be prescribed by a doctor. Only in a minority of states is neither recreational nor medical marijuana legal.
The significance of this support, especially among conservatives, should not be understated. Though the heyday of Reefer Madness — a 1936 film linking cannabis use to hallucination, rape, suicide, murder, which influenced popular perceptions about the drug — has long passed, cannabis remained a taboo substance in the 1970s and through the Reagan Revolution. The Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CSA) of 1970, signed by Richard Nixon, classified marijuana as a Schedule I drug — i.e., prohibiting both recreational and medical use — a status higher than cocaine and fentanyl. Reagan himself called marijuana “probably the most dangerous drug in the United States today,” and conservatives supported harsh criminal penalties for its use well into the 1990s.

The epidemic of anti-white racism

David Horowitz writes,
If too many black Americans are poor, the source of their poverty is themselves. In fact, only 20% of blacks are poor.[14] Better if it were less, but that figure poses the question: If 80% of blacks are not poor, how can racism be the explanation for the failure of 20% to avail themselves of the advantages that are open to the 80%? Especially when there are millions of people here illegally, who don’t speak the language and still manage to earn a decent living.
Among the more obvious holes in the progressive world view is the fact that there is no place for history, except as a locus of bad practices which can be manipulated to indict the present. The fact that American slaves were first enslaved by black Africans who sold them at auctions in Africa, and that white Americans died in the hundreds of thousands to free blacks, and also inspired a global movement for equal rights, is either missing from progressive narratives, or disparaged.
Between 1940 and 1950 the earnings of the average black male increased 75%, which was about twice the rate at which white incomes grew.[16] This was before the civil rights movement, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Great Society welfare programs that, in any case, failed to reduce poverty at all. Between 1940 and 1960, black incomes for males and females more than doubled.[17] By 1971, oppressed, marginalized and underserved black couples with two working spouses were earning 5 percent more than white couples of the same description in every part of the United States except the South.[18]
Why have 20% of the black population failed to climb out of poverty, while 80% have succeeded? Here are some statistics that help to explain. In 2019 the poverty rate in traditional two-parent families of all races was 4.0 percent, compared with 22.2 percent in families headed by a female with no adult male present.
Why are 70% of black families in inner cities single-parent, female-headed households?[21] Because 60 years ago progressives devised a welfare system that disqualifies families with a father in the house from receiving welfare benefits. The progressive ideological prism has no window for this, so for 60 years progressives have blocked every change to the system that would free black welfare families from poverty. Progressive ideology - not race - is the oppressor of black poor people in America.
The statistics show that income equality is within the power of blacks to achieve by themselves. Whites are richer not because they oppress blacks but because whites are more successful at forming traditional nuclear families and completing a college education. The educational system is public and largely free, especially to government-privileged minorities. Black failure is concentrated in urban centers where minorities are a majority and blacks occupy positions of power in private philanthropies, public institutions and governments.
In this situation, the chief obstacle to black Americans’ success is the epidemic of anti-white racism present in the Biden White House, the Democrat Party, the Black Lives Matter movement, the leftwing media and corporate culture, universities, philanthropic institutions, the Diversity Industry and the K-12 teacher unions. The sinister message to blacks from all these race-infected institutions is: You don’t control your destiny, racist whites do.

As long as Twitter is destroying the Left, is it really a good idea to stop it?

Glenn Reynolds writes,
Twitter isn’t reality. The vast majority of Americans don’t care about what happens on Twitter. The views expressed there — in favor of “wokeness,” critical race theory and trans issues — don’t reflect the views of most Americans. But the people running America’s institutions, and the left, act as if Twitter is reality.
And as I wrote in “The Social Media Upheaval,” Twitter is the main vector by which this virus is spread. But as long as it’s destroying the left, is it really a good idea to stop it?

Our technology advances, but our wisdom diminishes.

Glenn Ellmers writes,
There are only a few thousand political appointees in the government, who are replaced with each new administration, out of a total civilian federal workforce of about two million. If we accept the Post’s argument, this means that the president can only hire and fire about one-fifth of one percent of the executive branch. Who, then, does the bureaucracy answer to? In many ways, the permanent government is answerable only to itself. This insularity and lack of accountability helps to explain why the federal government’s COVID policies were so often characterized by misjudgments, contradictions, deception, and overreach.
The permanent government is a powerful force. It has established its own legitimacy apart from its political or constitutional authority, within the ranks of both political parties and the courts. Bureaucratic rule is defended as essential to solving, in a non-partisan way, the problems of modern government and society. But the bureaucracy has become a political faction on behalf of its own interests. Moreover, the party that defends progressivism and elite authority is increasingly open about politicizing the last vestiges of non-partisan government, including the Justice Department and federal law enforcement. As their power has grown, these defenders of administrative government are increasingly unable to understand, let alone tolerate, anyone who fails to recognize the legitimacy of the administrative state.

Is it the disease or the cure?

Seth Barron reports,
It’s funny, though, that the medicinal basis for legalizing marijuana has dropped out of the rhetoric around it. Now that New York has joined California and Colorado and other states in legalizing it, isn’t it surprising that the advocates aren’t citing improved health outcomes as a reason for the rest of the states to take the pledge? One would think that the need for universal Medicare would be obviated by the wide availability of marijuana.
Obviously, the medicinal benefits of marijuana were always a ruse. Same as the promises of unlimited rivers of tax revenue, hemp-based building material, empty prisons, etc. To be fair, though, I must say that the total legalization of marijuana at least spares us from having to listen to beat-down, bleary-eyed stoners whine about their “medicine.” There’s nothing more depressing than hearing an addict insist that their drug is the cure, not the disease.

What are the facts?

The last leg of the human-trafficking operation!

Miranda Devine reports,
The journey for illegal migrants through Mexico to the US border is facilitated by people-smuggling cartels but the flights into the interior of the country, provided by the Biden administration, are simply the last leg of that human-trafficking operation.
If it were not for The Post, the public would not be aware of any of the Biden administration’s charter flights, which are fanning out every night, all over the country, delivering illegal migrants from the southern border to oblivious communities.
After a lull late last year, in recent weeks “the charters are back with a fury,” says a whistleblower from Avelo Airlines, one of three charter companies raking in millions of taxpayer dollars whisking migrants out of sight.
Staffers are disturbed by the secrecy of the operation, and the prospect that they are participating in a human-trafficking operation, the whistleblower says.
The Post has monitored almost a dozen migrant flights into White Plains and Jacksonville, Fla., watching the planes land in the dead of night, photographing migrants boarding charter buses, and then attempting to follow the buses to their destinations.

Two journalists who do not give up!

The New York Times is deathly afraid of incurring Muslims’ wrath, but it has no fear of incurring the wrath of Jews or Christians!

Dennis Prager brings to our attention the choice of the New York Times to feature a column mocking God on the eve of Passover, on Good Friday.
The two titles of the piece (one in the print edition and one for the Times’ digital edition) will give you a good idea of the tenor of the piece: “Let’s pass over God” and “In this time of war, I propose we give up God.”
The Left understands that the only viable opposition to it consists of Orthodox Jews, traditional Catholics, evangelical Protestants, and traditional Mormons.
It is close to inconceivable that the New York Times would publish a column mocking Allah, Muhammad and the Quran during the month of Ramadan (or, for that matter, at any time of the year). It is now Ramadan, and the only articles I could find in the New York Times about the Muslim holy month are about food: “15 Recipes for Observing Ramadan,” and “Where Breaking the Ramadan Fast Includes Caribou,” an article about Muslims in Anchorage.
Why is there no New York Times piece mocking Allah or Islam? There are, after all, plenty of disaffected Muslims like Auslander, the disaffected Jew, who could write one. The answer is the New York Times is deathly afraid of incurring Muslims’ wrath, but it has no fear of incurring the wrath of Jews or Christians. For good reason.

Trump-appointed judge among those most responsible for the unjust treatment of January 6 defendants!

Julie Kelly has been the one person to follow closely the cases of the January 6 defendents. After telling us about one family's experiences, she writes,
The Americans involved in the events of January 6, 2021, did not attempt to “overthrow democracy.” Instead, it is the people in power—including Merrick Garland and his line prosecutors—who are systematically and unapologetically destroying the basic tenets of jurisprudence in a myopic mission to punish political dissidents.
There are many villains in this case—Wray, Attorney General Merrick Garland, U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Matthew Graves, and the D.C. appellate court, among others—but the man most responsible for Nordean’s captivity is Judge Timothy J. Kelly, appointed to the D.C. District Court by Donald Trump in 2017.

Just people like ourselves, who strive, err, admit error and learn!

Richard Fernandez writes,
Like Russia, China’s rulers are trapped by the inability to admit error.
Therefore Xi will persist against the virus, just as Putin will continue to batter against Ukraine, not in the hopes of actually solving the stated problem but because in ideological totalitarianism, fallibility is not an option. Because they are in violation of the First Law of Holes (“if you find yourself in a hole, stop digging”) the problem unsurprisingly gets bigger. Russia has threatened to deploy nuclear weapons to the Baltics if Finland and Sweden join NATO — which Putin’s invasion impels them to do. China’s COVID controls may fail to control the virus but still succeed in damaging its economy and stirring up political unrest. But no matter, gods cannot err.
In the West, the defense of the infallibility of the political class takes a different but equivalent form. There too the gods cannot err, and mistakes are never acknowledged at all. The Narrative is simply airbrushed or explained by “fact-checkers” to make it seem like the favored political line has never been wrong. Thus Germany’s energy switch from indigenous coal and nuclear power to Russian gas never funded Putin. The Biden administration’s seamless resumption of approving oil leases on federal land was never an indictment of past policy. The COVID health mandates that were always necessary just suddenly became superfluous, especially for illegal immigrants at the southern U.S. border. Barack Obama was never fooled for an instant: declaring “Putin has always been ruthless … the danger was always there,” even though people remember he mocked Mitt Romney for saying it. Nor was the Washington Post deceived by Hunter Biden’s denials: headlining “inside Hunter Biden’s multimillion-dollar deals with a Chinese energy company,” denouncing it while pointing out it was only a private matter.
If the Global World seems shaken to its foundations, China turned into a giant jail, and Russia trapped in auto-destruct, it is primarily because the rulers are too walled-in by their dominant paradigms to consider the facts.
Perhaps the real advantage of working democracies over tidy and “efficient” autocracies lies precisely in their weakness. In such societies there are no gods, no czars or emperors, no transformative politicians ready to lead the multitudes by the hand to the Green end of history; just people like ourselves, who strive, err, admit error and learn. Experience we can live with; it is only when we raise up the idol state that we stifle under the stone weight of perfection.

Mask mandates

John Tierney writes,
The graph tracks the results of a natural experiment that occurred nationwide during the pandemic. Eleven states never mandated masks, while the other 39 states enforced mandates. The mandates typically began early in the pandemic in 2020 and remained until at least the summer of 2021, with some extending into 2022. The black line on the graph shows the weekly rate of Covid cases in all the states with mask mandates that week, while the orange line shows the rate in all the states without mandates.
As you can see from the lines’ similar trajectories, the mask mandates hardly controlled the virus. By the time the mandates were introduced in New York and other states in the spring of 2020 (at the left side of the graph), infections had already been declining in those states, and the mandates didn’t prevent a surge later that year, when cases rose and fell in nearly identical trajectories regardless of states’ mask policies. The pandemic’s second year saw slight deviations in both directions, but those reflected the seasonality of the virus and the geography of mask mandates, which remained more common in northern states. Cases were higher in the non-mandate states last summer, when the seasonal surge in the South disproportionately hit Republican states without mandates, but those states went on to have fewer cases during the winter, when the seasonal surge in the North hit more Democratic states with mandates.
If you add up all the numbers on those two lines, you find that the mask mandates made zero difference. The cumulative rate of infection over the course of the pandemic was about 24 percent in the mandate states as well as in the non-mandate states. Their cumulative rates of Covid mortality were virtually identical, too (in fact, there were slightly more deaths per capita in the states with mask mandates).

Federal judge vacates mask mandate for planes, trains, buses and public transportation!

Sundance reports,
A federal judge in Tampa, Florida has vacated the federal transportation mask mandate for planes, trains, buses and public Transporation.
In essence, U.S. District Judge Kathryn Kimball Mizelle found the CDC exceeded its statutory authority with the mask mandate and violated the rules that guide CDC regulations. After Joe Biden arbitrarily announced the federal transportation mandate, the CDC triggered enforcement of the mask mandate without any required time for public feedback on a new regulation.
The federal mask mandate was arbitrary and capricious with no justification from the CDC and no required time for the public to provide feedback. The government’s legal argument was that public feedback, comments on rulemaking, was irrelevant because the mandate was going to be enforced regardless of public opinion. That argument was summarily dispatched by the judge saying, just because the government has a pre-determined outcome in mind does not relinquish them from the obligation to follow the rules.

Creating laws that avoid civil and criminal liability for the murder of children!

Marc Little reports,
As if the horrors created by abortion-on-demand causing the slaughter of 60+ million babies since Roe v. Wade in 1973 were not enough, Maryland and California legislators drafted bills moving through their legislatures that go a step further – they attempt to create laws that avoid civil and criminal liability for the murder of children. In these bills, they attempt to shield from prosecution a mother and any third parties who assist her in murdering her child from 7 to 28 days after birth (“perinatal period”). This is called infanticide and getting away with murder.
In the United States, 44% of abortions are performed on black babies. Consequently, it stands to reason that the infanticide bills proposed in Maryland and California will disproportionately murder black babies after they are born. The far left is quick to denounce anyone who opposes indoctrinating children with critical race theory in schools as racists, but they are eerily quiet when it comes to the wholesale slaughter of black babies in and out of the womb, as proposed. The objective reality is that California Assembly Bill 2223 and Maryland Senate Bill 669 are the kind of discriminatory bills that should be deemed unconstitutional under the Fourteenth Amendment (Equal Protection Clause) of the U.S. Constitution.
In December 2021, California Gov. Gavin Newsom formed the Future of Abortion Council to ensure that California becomes the abortion sanctuary of the nation. The Council intends to ensure, in part, that any out-of-state mother can have an abortion, that all abortions are free, that minors are able to have abortions free from parental consent, and that no one could ever be held civilly or criminally liable for participating in the infanticide.

Drone incursions into U.S. airspace

Tyler Durden writes,
Border security continues to suffer significantly as Mexican drug cartels conducted more than 9,000 drone incursions into US airspace in 2021, Judicial Watch revealed this week.
Judicial Watch spoke with a senior Homeland Security, interviewed federal officials at the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Rio Grande Valley sector in Texas, and even filed a Freedom of Information Act request with CBP to investigate the use of drones by Mexican drug cartels to surveil federal, state, county, and city agencies and conduct nefarious activities on the border.
CBP officials on the ground told the conservative activist group that cartels used drones for surveillance during human smuggling and drug trafficking operations into the US. They said the drones, many of which can be readily bought off the internet or at a big box retailer, are being used to spot gaps in the border coverage, as well as create diversions in certain areas to confuse CBP agents while smugglers move high-value assets across the border in other locations.
Brandon Judd, the union president representing 20,000 CBP agents, told Judicial Watch the drones are also "dropping fentanyl" packages into the US.

Submit the Iran deal to Congress!

Adam Kredo reports,
The America First Legal Foundation, a group of conservative lawyers and activists, notified the Biden administration that it "intends to take legal action to block any Biden-Iran deal that is not submitted to Congress" for approval, according to a litigation notice letter sent to the White House on Thursday and obtained exclusively by the Washington Free Beacon. The letter also requests that the administration preserve all internal documents and communications related to the deal so that they can be used as part of a future court case.
The legal threat is a sign of mounting opposition to a new nuclear accord and presents a new avenue to force the Biden administration into bringing the deal to Capitol Hill for a vote. With a new accord seemingly imminent, Republican lawmakers and some Democrats are concerned the administration will violate the law to push the deal to the finish line. Republican foreign policy leaders in Congress told the Free Beacon a lawsuit could delay the deal's implementation and force the administration into disclosing the full terms of a new deal, which will provide Tehran with billions of dollars in cash revenue and remove virtually all sanctions on the hardline regime.

Celebrating life, motherhood, and familial bonds

Jessica Marie Baumgartner believes pro-choice activists know their movement is wrong.
Alongside extremist laws like California’s proposed bill and New York’s liberal abortion law, more and more women are duped by advertising campaigns that lead them to support murder. Pro-choice activists may parrot propagandist lines, and see pro-life advocates as uncaring women, but I hold no ill will toward any woman, especially those who have faced abortion. All I wish is for everyone to consider the entire situation. If abortion is health care, why isn’t seeking other alternatives also considered health care? Better yet, why are pro-choice activists so determined to slander people who love babies?
Because they know deep down that their movement is wrong. They know that the truth is more complex than they wish to believe. They know they are lying to others and themselves. Once you realize that lie and wish to lead an honest life, you stop screaming at opponents and find yourself celebrating life, motherhood, and familial bonds. You find love in life.

Vaccine info still behind FDA firewall!

The Human Events staff reports,
A group of Republican lawmakers are demanding the FDA release all current and future safety and efficacy data on COVID-19 vaccines and therapeutics.
“The fact that the data in the FDA’s possession has remained behind an FDA firewall for more than 18 months is appalling,” Rep. Bill Posey wrote to Commissioner Robert Califf, noting the agency unsuccessfully asked a court to trickle out Pfizer vaccine information over 55 to 75 years, Just the News reports.
The lawmakers demand the agency immediately release data for COVID-19 products granted emergency use authorization and full approval.

94% increase in fatal overdose deaths among teenagers!

Michael Chapman reports,
A new study in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) shows that the number of fatal overdose deaths among teenagers rose from 492 in 2019 to 954 in 2020, an increase of 94%.
"Teenagers don't seek out illicit opioids, [but] they do seek out prescription opioids and that has always been one of their favorite drugs: Vicodin, OxyContin, hydrocodone. And they also seek out benzodiazepines," Dr. Nora Volkow, director of the National Institute on Drug abuse, told NPR.
According to Families Against Fentanyl (FAF), illicit fentanyl is now the No. 1 cause of death among Americans ages 18-45.
Much of the illicit fentanyl that ends up in the U.S. is made in Communist China and Mexico. It is smuggled across the borders or mailed through the U.S. postal system.

Non-white? Don't worry about your race being mentioned by the media if you murder someone!

Charles Fain Lehman reports,
Frank James, the man arrested for Tuesday's New York City subway shooting, is a black nationalist and outspoken racist who railed against whites, Jews, and Hispanics. A careful reader of the New York Times could be forgiven for overlooking that. In a nearly 2,000-word article on the attack, James's race is not mentioned. The same is true for the coverage offered up by Reuters; the Washington Post only mentioned James's race in relation to his condemnation of training programs for "low-income Black youths."
Media critics on the right say that the conspicuous omission of James's race from these news reports illustrates a trend among prestige papers, which deemphasize or omit the race of non-white criminals while playing up the race of white offenders. But is it a real pattern?
Yes. A Washington Free Beacon review of hundreds of articles published by major papers over a span of two years finds that papers downplay the race of non-white offenders, mentioning their race much later in articles than they do for white offenders. These papers are also three to four times more likely to mention an offender's race at all if he is white, a disparity that grew in the wake of George Floyd's death in 2020 and the protests that followed.

Curbing loose nuke talk!

Victor Davis Hanson writes,
for the most part as long as the world’s three largest nuclear powers—the United States, Russia, and China—do not square off in a war or are not sucked into a third-party conflict, the world assumes nukes are out of sight and out of mind.
Or so we thought until recently.
The current Ukraine war has restarted loose nuke talk. Once outmanned, outnumbered Ukraine unexpectedly repelled Russian invaders—thanks to massive shipments of Western sophisticated anti-tank and anti-aircraft arms—talk arose from Russia about the use of nuclear weapons.
Vladimir Putin has recently boasted of possibly using nukes against both Ukraine, and, more ominously, those NATO countries who aided Kyiv. In response, French President Emmanuel Macron reminded Russia that NATO itself has an ample nuclear deterrent.
Ukraine nuke talk spins off into lots of other places. Nuclear North Korea is resuming its ballistic missile launches to intimidate non-nuclear South Korea and Japan. China is rapidly expanding its nuclear stockpiles and now talks openly of ending a free Taiwan, warning Taiwan’s friends and allies to keep out—or else.
The world has become nuclear obsessed. Is there a danger in daily normalizing the abnormal and casually thinking the unthinkable?
Curbing loose nuke talk won’t calm tensions or guarantee peace, but it wouldn’t hurt either.

What a fun day today would be to be an investor in the stock market! AP reports,
Tesla CEO Elon Musk is offering to buy Twitter, saying the social media platform he has criticized for not living up to free speech principles needs to be transformed as a private company.
Twitter Inc. said in a regulatory filing on Thursday that Musk, currently the company's biggest individual shareholder, has proposed buying the remaining shares of Twitter that he doesn't already own at $54.20 per share, an offer worth more than $43 billion.
Twitter shares rose to $47.83, up 4.3% but well below Musk's offer price, a sign that some investors may doubt the deal will go through. The stock is still down from its 52-week high of about $73.

Invasion!

Sarah Hoyt has written a very powerful essay on immigration.
Gangs. Foreign gangs. We’ve never managed to cope with the Mafia. Now we’re also importing Mexican gangs and Middle Eastern insanity.
Defund the police? We’ll need a police state to cope with this.
Cleaning the vote: Most of these people, even if they ever become citizens won’t ever acculturate enough to be responsible citizens. Their children? Maybe, if we work very hard. Their grandchildren…. how hard are we willing to work?
The economy… Well, most of these people are unskilled. Which are not — REPEAT — not what the economy needs right now. Some will learn. But some might never. How many unemployed ferals can we endure? Don’t we have enough homeless addicts?
-Teach your children. Knowing they’re Americans, and what that means is vital, if we are to rebuild. Also, having marketable skills, no matter how hard the establishment tries to stop them from doing so.
-Enforce FIFO to the measure you can. Tell new immigrants that it’s Fit in or Fuck off, and no, we’re not going to make it easy for you, because what’s free is not prized.

Musk is my hero, but is he really advocating transhumanism?

Sara Weaver tells us that Elon Musk
shows a dangerous penchant for transhumanism.
Musk told the World Government Summit in 2017 that as humanity’s daily dependence on technology increases, humans should simply merge with machines.
“I think one of the solutions that seems maybe the best is to add an AI layer,” Musk said in an interview in 2016, “Just as your cortex works symbiotically with your limbic system, your third digital layer could work symbiotically with you.”
On Twitter, Musk announced another method by which we could create “symbiosis with machines” — neural lace. Science Alert describes neural lace as, “a brain implant that can augment natural intelligence by hooking us up to computers.” Musk is, it appears, placing his actions behind his words, naming his son a string of letters and numbers (X Æ A-12) that’s more reminiscent of a “Star Wars”-style robot than a human child.
Musk believes we are likely a simulation in an advanced civilization’s high-tech video game, and his brain chip company Neuralink could start testing on humans within the year, according to Fortune.
Other than the occasional right-of-center opinion, Musk is a technology-obsessed billionaire with little sense of respect for the inherent dignity of humans as created in the image of God. At best, his philosophy is a decent method of managed defeat to the technological overlords bent on ushering in the era of transhumanism.
Eternal life is only worth pursuing if we have any idea what “life” really is. Is it a simulation or a divine miracle? Musk wants brain implants so we can live forever. After all, who doesn’t want to live forever?
But Musk never considers if humanity is more than a data set, and the question of life is not merely whether we can keep said data set “running.” There is a mystery to human life which should remain at the mercy of the Creator.

Five ways progressive ideology has negatively affected women

Dennis Praeger believes leftist ideology has negatively affected women. He gives five examples.
No. 1: The Desire to Bond with a Man
Unfortunately, however, the reality is most women need a man just as most men need a woman. Most men don’t fully grow up without a woman, and most women don’t fully grow up without a man (I am, of course, referring to heterosexual women and men). If you need proof, ask almost any married person, man or woman, if marriage matured them.
No. 2: The Desire to Marry
As a result of feminist and other left-wing indoctrination, the belief that a woman doesn’t need a man led to the inevitable upshot: marriage isn’t necessary. And it might even be a tool of oppression. And as a result of that, a smaller percentage of American women are marrying than ever before.
The most obvious problem is that women who have children without ever marrying their children’s father — or another man — produce a highly disproportionate percentage of social misfits. But many women who never give birth nor marry also constitute a societal problem. They are more likely to be angry and to express that anger in support of radical causes that undermine society.
No. 3: The Desire to Have Children
At least as much as wanting to bond with a man and wanting to get married were deemed a part of women’s nature, the desire to have children was regarded as even more embedded in female nature. Yet, incredibly, leftist ideology is even succeeding in eliminating that part of women’s makeup. More women than ever before — abroad as well as in America — are choosing not to have children. See, for example, the article, “More women like me are choosing to be childfree. Is this the age of opting out?” published, appropriately, in The Guardian. The author ends her piece this way: “I’ll say it plain: I don’t want children, I never have, and it doesn’t feel like any kind of lack. To me, it just feels like being alive.” She speaks for an increasing number of women.
No. 4: The Desire to Have Sex with Commitment
Three generations of American women have been indoctrinated into believing that their sexual nature is the same as that of a man. Therefore, she can have “hookups,” i.e., non-emotional, non-committal sex, just like men can with no emotional fallout. And so, many young women do. But a far greater percentage of them experience regret or even depression than do young men who engage in “hookup” sex, a form of sex that is indeed part of male nature.
No. 5: The Desire to Protect Children’s Innocence
Perhaps the most amazing thing progressive ideology has done to women is to subvert the innate female desire to protect children, specifically children’s sexual innocence. The movement to teach very young children about sex, about “gender fluidity,” expose them to “Drag Queen Story Hours,” etc., is overwhelmingly led by and composed of women.
Leftism would appear to demonstrate that ideology can trump human nature. Such is the power of social indoctrination. One inevitable result is a generation of more depressed young women and more regretful middle-aged women than ever before in American history.
The Left ruins everything it touches. You can add women to the list.

How liberals got tricked by the woke!

"Why is the pope ashamed of the Cross before Muslims, especially during Lent?"

Raymond Ibrahim writes,
Perhaps it’s not just shame; perhaps Francis, whose Maltese mission was to support the many Muslim migrants who have flooded the tiny island, removed the cross as a precaution, lest irate Muslims cause a scene and thus compromise his presentation of them as poor victims in need of more state aid and concessions. After all, and as is well documented in this article, past and present, Muslims have engaged in an unwavering pattern of desecrating and destroying the cross, including in Christian cemeteries.
And in the midst of such an existential struggle, the so-called vicar of Christ is doing everything in his power to compel Christians to drop their guard and take in and appease more and more Muslims -- even as he ditches the cross of Christ, lest it offends these selfsame Muslims.

"We really are nothing more than a fancy banana republic!"

Andrea Widburg has an admittedly wild theory:
Obama's aiming to get back into the Oval Office.
My premise is that Obama fully understands that, if Biden is ousted immediately under the 25th Amendment, there are only idiots and incompetents to take his place. If it's not Kamala Harris, then it's Nancy Pelosi and, if not her, then Patrick Leahy, Antony Blinken, Janet Yellen, Lloyd Austin, Merrick Garland... Obama knows none of these nonentities will secure the transformation he promised America. Instead, there are three steps to return Obama to the presidency:
1. Have the Democrat establishment remove Kamala Harris from office, whether through threats or bribes.
2. Have the Democrats declare that, because world instability (Ukraine, Putin, China) puts us at unprecedented risk, only a politically seasoned person can be vice president, with Obama graciously accepting that role.
3. Oust Biden using the 25th Amendment. And voilĂ ! President Obama (again). He can even have Stacey Abrams as his veep.
The 22nd Amendment does not bar Obama from regaining the presidency this way. It only stops him from being "elected to the office." The three steps above avoid an election.
And yes, I agree this sounds crazy, but events since 2020 show that we really are nothing more than a fancy banana republic.

The great sovereignty reclamation movement is alive and flourishing!

An American Greatness writer believes there is a worldwide sovereignty reclamation movement.
Through our own internal deliberations and our own political processes, “we, the people” should decide the fate of our own nation-states. Recent or ongoing examples in Hungary, France, Ukraine, and Israel are instructive. For political actors paying attention here on the American homefront, there are clear and compelling lessons to take away.
The key lesson from Hungary: A proud nationhood is one that fights to secure its customs, folkways, and traditions from the overweening, heavy hand of the liberal imperium (here, the Brussels-based European Union).
The key lesson from France: The liberal imperium faces an existential threat. Aside from Germany, there is no more important EU nation than France. A more humble liberal imperium would acknowledge there is nothing wrong whatsoever with national pride.
The key lesson from Ukraine: The interdependent bonds of mutual loyalty that tie together a particular people, such as commonality of language, heritage, and general mannerisms, can lead to extraordinary things amidst the intense threat of revanchism.
The key lesson from Israel: A proud, self-governing people will only tolerate for so long a parliamentary (or congressional) coalition in which subversive fifth-column actors, perhaps in cahoots with external NGOs, wield veto power.
Looking back at the 2016 tidal wave of the United Kingdom’s dramatic “Brexit” and the dramatic election of President Donald Trump, and continuing through today, the great sovereignty reclamation movement is alive and thriving. For Americans who seek forward-looking inspiration, the lesson is simple: The nation-state, and the tangible flourishing of the nation-state’s people, must always come first. There is no more important lesson for a decadent, late-stage republic to imbibe.

Scott has been writing about the strange case of the two men “of Washington, D.C.” who are under arrest, having purported to be high-level Department of Homeland Security agents. The men are Arian Taherzadeh and Haider Ali, which might give the politically incorrect some ideas. News reports indicate that they “compromised” four Secret Service agents, although my understanding is that this simply means that those agents accepted gifts from them. Somehow, Taherzadeh and Ali had plenty of money to throw around.
It strikes me that Mr. Taherzadeh and Mr. Ali are likely to take their place in a line of news stories with respect to which we never got to hear the punch line: the Pakistanis who handled tech services for the Democratic House caucus until their arrest; the Chinese spy who, for years, was Dianne Feinstein’s driver; the Chinese spy Fang Fang who bedded Eric Swalwell–the life of a spy is not an easy one; and I suppose we should add the Chinese companies that slid millions of dollars to Joe Biden and his relatives. (Can I say it one more time? No one has ever bribed the unemployable crack addict Hunter Biden. Any money that wound up with him was a transaction cost.) Such stories are allowed to die a quiet death, because one of the requirements to be a reporter these days is a total lack of curiosity about anything that reflects poorly on the establishment in general, and the Democratic Party in particular.
So, yeah, there is something happening with the two “Washington, D.C.” men. But what it is ain’t exactly clear, and likely never will be.

Getting legal advice from an expert!

Taking credit!

Probably not!

Mackubin Owens writes,
The pandemic facilitates your party’s narrative by allowing you to run a “virtual” campaign that doesn’t demand the arduous physical and mental rigors of a normal presidential run, and further allows your party and its billionaire supporters to facilitate “emergency” changes to election laws that tilt the field in your favor. Your opponent, hamstrung by the pandemic and his own incomparable ability to shoot himself in the foot, seems destined to go down to defeat.
Until your troubled son loses his laptop.
On the laptop, among other unsavory matters, is enough information about your family’s grifting to sink your candidacy and maybe land you all in the pokey. But an unholy combination of the corporate media, Big Tech, and old intel community cronies ride to your rescue by falsely claiming your son’s laptop is “Russian disinformation.” These allies censor and silence any and all references to the laptop and its contents as “mis- and disinformation” and foreign election interference. In the end, by roughly 17,000 votes spread over three states, you are elevated to the presidency.
Closing in on 80 years-old, you are tempted to let it go, perhaps more so now that your erstwhile campaign allies in the corporate media have fessed up that the laptop was, in fact, your troubled son’s. Your presidency has been beset by problems; and your party’s fortunes heading into the midterm elections appear bleak. Thus, the question: Does your hand-picked attorney general appoint a special prosecutor to investigate you and your family’s overseas influence-peddling grift?
I’m guessing . . . no.

Ya think?

The staff at National Review writes,
The Biden Justice Department inevitably has a conflict of interest investigating the president’s son, particularly when President Biden is not only entangled at some level in the unsavory business dealings at issue but continues to claim he has no connection to them. That claim has long been untenable but now insults our intelligence.
Americans can be forgiven for wondering why, when President Obama made his vice president the point man on administration policy in countries like China, Ukraine, and Russia, people and entities tied to those corrupt regimes saw the wisdom in lining the pockets of his inexperienced and troubled son.

Biden to Christian hospitals: Kill babies in abortions or shut down!

Micaiah Bilger reports,
Joe Biden Wants to Force Christian Hospitals to Kill Babies in Abortions or Shut Down
Catholic News Service reports conservative leaders discovered the plans for the radical new regulation buried in a legal memorandum from the pro-abortion Leadership Conference and a U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announcement.
Crafted to be an anti-sex discrimination provision under the Affordable Care Act, the anticipated regulation likely would force Catholic and Christian hospitals, doctors, other medical workers and insurance companies to provide abortions, transgender surgeries and other procedures with no religious exemptions, according to the report.

Am I ignorant of my own ignorance?

Stuart Vyse writes,
Ignorant of your own ignorance. Frequently applied in a political context, the Dunning-Kruger (DK) effect has rapidly become a famous psychological concept. It describes a kind of double-whammy. If you suffer from the DK effect, you know very little about a subject—which is bad enough—but you also have the false impression that you know considerably more than you do. In a world where the views of experts are regularly dismissed (Nichols 2017) and many internet users think they know more about medicine and foreign policy than people who actually studied those subjects in school, the DK effect seems to explain a lot. People who were unskilled or unschooled in a subject also suffered from a “metacognitive deficit.” Metacognition is thinking about your own thought processes, and it is separate from the basic thinking you do while solving a problem or taking a test. According to Dunning and Kruger, people who are ill informed often don’t know it.
