Zuckerberg comes out for free expression on Facebook!

Mark Zuckerberg has declared that Facebook is 'going to stand up for free expression' in spite of the fact it will 'piss off a lot of people'.

The controversial CEO, 35, made the claim during a fiery appearance at the Silicon Slopes Tech Summit in Utah on Friday.

Zuckerberg told the audience that Facebook had previously tried to resist moves that would be branded as 'too offensive' - but says he now believes he is being asked to partake in 'excessive censorship'.

'Increasingly we're getting called to censor a lot of different kinds of content that makes me really uncomfortable,' he claimed.

'We're going to take down the content that's really harmful, but the line needs to be held at some point'.

Another ludicrous “woke” policy used to suppress conservative content: Facebook has removed President Trump’s pro-women re-election advertisements, according to reports from tech site Gizmodo, as well as the left-wing Popular Information blog that reported a “violation” of Facebook’s terms and conditions.

Facebook policy states advertisers may not have “direct or indirect assertions or implications” about race, ethnicity, gender and sexual identity, religion, or financial standing. So the Women For Trump advert was banned… for referring to women.

...Facebook wants to privately know everything about you, and sell that data. But it doesn’t want you to know that advertisers can see all that when targeting you.

Remember when advertisers were open about the demographics they were targeting? Not in digital media. Wokeness plus data mining individuals is leading to secrecy surrounding algorithms, targeting, and more.

Candace Owens suspended from Facebook for seven days!

Candace Owens:

“My @facebook page has been suspended for 7 days for posting that white supremacy is not a threat to black America, as much as father absence and & liberal policies that incentivize it, are,” she tweeted. “I am censored for posting the poverty rates in fatherless homes.”


“Facebook has allowed every post that has falsely and horribly accused @realDonaldTrump of white supremacy to remain on its platform,” said Owens. “But when a black woman begins discussing the TRUTH—which is that liberal policies have systematically ruined black homes—they censor.”

"Zuckerberg not accountable," says Facebook co-founder

I cannot remember ever posting two stories back-to-back stories from NBC News, but here is the second one! Ben Popken reports,

Chris Hughes, who started Facebook with Mark Zuckerberg, joins a growing chorus of privacy advocates and politicians who have called for antitrust action.

...A co-founder of Facebook called for the government to break up the tech giant in an op-ed article Thursday in The New York Times.

“The Facebook that exists today is not the Facebook that we founded in 2004,” Chris Hughes, who started Facebook with Mark Zuckerberg in their Harvard dorm, told NBC News after the op-ed was published.

“And the one that we have today I think is far too big. It's far too powerful. And most importantly, its CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, is not accountable,” Hughes said of his former business partner.

States starting to wake up to Facebook's censorship of free speech

Elisabeth Byrne reports in the Texas Tribune,

A bill before the Texas Senate seeks to prevent social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter from censoring users based on their viewpoints. Supporters say it would protect the free exchange of ideas, but critics say the bill contradicts a federal law that allows social media platforms to regulate their own content.

The measure — Senate Bill 2373 by state Sen. Bryan Hughes, R-Mineola — would hold social media platforms accountable for restricting users’ speech based on personal opinions. Hughes said the bill applies to social media platforms that advertise themselves as unbiased but still censor users. The Senate State Affairs Committee unanimously approved the bill last week. (Update: The Texas Senate approved the bill on April 25 in an 18-12 vote. It now heads to the House.)

...U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz raised similar concerns about social media censorship at a Senate Judiciary committee hearing April 10. Cruz, a Republican, threatened federal regulation of social media sites in response to allegations that they censor conservative content and users. Representatives from both Facebook and Twitter testified at the hearing. Google was invited to testify, but Cruz rejected the company's witness.

Other states have also filled legislation seeking to curb social media censorship. Lawmakers in California filed a bill that would prohibit anyone who operates a social media site in the state from removing content from the site based on the political affiliation or viewpoint.

"Impermissibly Vague!"

At about the 8-minute mark, Ben Shapiro takes up the Facebook censorship issue. "Impermissibly vague." Facebook makes no distinction between violence and hateful speech. Facebook refuses to grant a clear definition of rules. Facebook does not have clear standards by any stretch of the imagination! They have not articulated any standard at all! There is no absolute principle being applied. This is anti-free speech nonsense!

Who are the good guys? Anyone who agrees with Facebook! Who are the bad guys? Anyone who disagrees with Facebook. I posted on Facebook several articles critical of Facebook. I wondered if I was risking censorship. Now I know the answer!

Facebook is looking to be regulated by the US government so that they can protect their powerful position in American social media.

This is "political censorship!"

Facebook claims to be a forum for the exchange of ideas, and it claims not to be politically biased, but it bans only people on the right (except for Farrakhan). One question I have: How many people did they ban this week? I have not seen that question addressed.

Matt also makes a good point when he talks about people being smeared as dangerous and hateful. How is that going to affect the person's job prospects? Where is the evidence of hate and violence? Facebook does not have the right to defame anyone! They are defaming those they have banned!

Is Facebook responsible for what is said on the Facebook platform? If they are just a platform then they can't exercise this kind of editorial control! Facebook is dancing between being a utility one minute, a platform the next minute, and a publisher the next minute!

I am to the right of the Washington Post, and any distance to the right is too far!

A few days ago I announced here that I have been locked out of Facebook. Today Facebook finally announced that they have banned what the Washington Post called some "far-right leaders" (Louis Farrakhan among them)!

Ace of Spades announced the news today and noted, "We will all be banned in the near future. And the cucks will say, "It is good." "Oh, and of course: Another example of our leftwing corporate overlords imposing censorship." I don't think Ace knows how accurate his prediction may be!

Suddenly, Facebook is allowing me to publish again.

Facebook has allowed me to publish links to Greenfield and Fischer. I suppose it is possible that they were only having trouble publishing pieces that I felt were important. My distrust has now been aroused, and I will be much more open to critics who point out the censorship coming from Amazon (banning Tommy Robinson's book on the Koran), Twitter, and Facebook.

I wondered when it would happen. Today I linked to posts by Daniel Greenfield in Sultan Knish and Dov Fischer in the American Spectator. When I tried to post the links in Facebook this is the message I got.


When I tried commenting on someone else's timeline, this is what Facebook told me while refusing to let me comment.

Beginning at the 29.51 minute mark of Tucker Carlson's show last night Tucker took on the issue of Tech Tyranny. "Inside the big tech companies political bias is rampant." Tucker interviewed Blake Harris, the author of a book entitled The History of the Future. Harris says that after the 2016 election many employees of Facebook felt they had failed in their mission! Facebook forced out it's creator, Palmer Luckey, after he donated to an anti-Hillary group and admitted that he was a Trump supporter. Zuckerberg wanted him to say that he was a Gary Johnson supporter.

Tucker then concludes that Facebook is totalitarian: "Our way or you're out!"

Problems or fake news?

The stock price of Facebook has fallen 36% since its peak. Deepa Seetharaman reports in the Wall Street Journal that Mark Zuckerberg has become much more aggressive in trying to fix the problems. ...about a dozen senior or highly visible executives disclosed their resignations or left Facebook in 2018.

Facebook had income of over five billion dollars in the third quarter. I wonder if Mark Zuckerberg is perhaps a victim of fake news like Donald Trump has experienced. Read more here.

"FB’ers for Political Diversity"

At Zero Hedge, Tyler Durden reports on a New York Times article about a senior Facebook engineer named Amerige who is speaking out against the Leftist bias at Facebook. The engineer says the bias has gotten exponentially worse in the last two years (Trump presidency).

Amerige wasn't alone in his criticism of Silicon Valley's liberal bias, and as the NYT reports, since the post went up, "more than 100 Facebook employees have joined Mr. Amerige to form an online group called FB’ers for Political Diversity." The aim of the initiative, according to Mr. Amerige’s memo, is to create a space for ideological diversity within the company.

It’s not every day that you see “ the largest ever loss of value in one day for a U.S.-traded company,” but if yesterday’s post-close trading reflects today’s closing price, then Facebook Inc., which lost as much as $151 billion of market capitalization at one point after the close yesterday after announcing disappointing growth numbers and guidance, will claim that record. (As of 10 a.m. today the stock was down about 19 percent, about a $120 billion drop in market cap, well on target for the record.) The current holder is Intel Corp., which “lost about $91 billion on one September day in 2000.” There at least there was a tech bubble bursting all around them. Here, “before the results were announced, Facebook’s shares had closed in New York at $217.50, a record high, and had gained 23 percent this year.”

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg predicted Tuesday it will be five to 10 years before Facebook has technological tools in place to flag and remove hate speech from the platform before it is posted.

Using Facebook to get out the vote

Hannah Perry and Chris Spargo report in The Daily Mail,

Facebook allowed the Obama campaign to access the personal data of users during the 2012 campaign because they supported the Democratic candidate according to a high ranking staffer.

Carol Davidsen, who worked as the media director at Obama for America and has spoken about this in the past, explained on Twitter that she and her team were able to ingest massive amounts of information from the social network after getting permission from Facebook users to access their list of friends.

'Facebook was surprised we were able to suck out the whole social graph, but they didn't stop us once they realized that was what we were doing,' wrote Davidsen.
