A big day for border security

Patriot arrested by the FBI

The number one story on Drudge this morning is the arrest of a leader of an armed group of citizens in New Mexico. The group is called United Constitutional Patriots. The ACLU complained about them and New Mexico's loony governor, Michelle Lujan Grisham, ordered an investigation. The group works with the Border Patrol, and is supported by the Border Patrol. A change in the law would solve 63% of our border problem!

In cnsnews, Susan Jones reports that

On Wednesday, CBP Commissioner Kevin McAleenan told the Senate Judiciary Committee that changes in the law -- particularly the rules requiring the quick release of illegal aliens into the interior of the country -- would make a big difference.

"There are solutions to this crisis," McAleenan said.

...Committee Chairman Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) asked McAleenan, "If you had a choice of...changing the laws and money for barriers or anything else, what would be your top priority?"

"I believe we need both, Mr. Chairman," McAleenan said. "But the immediate impact -- 63 percent of our traffic at the border would be addressed by a change in the laws."

Graham repeated: "Change in law affects 63 percent of the problem."

McAleenan said unaccompanied minors from Central America who make it to the United States have a "less than two percent" chance of ever being returned to their home countries. "It's very rare," he said, and that's because of a legal agreement known as the Flores settlement.

Under that ruling, both unaccompanied children and children coming north with a relative must be released into the interior of the United States within 20 days of being detained.

McAleenan said smugglers are "actively advertising" that if they bring a child to the United States, that child will be released.

The border is at a “breaking point.”

...During the press conference when Trump announced his emergency declaration on February 15, the media demanded from the president a set of data to demonstrate the problem. Well, here is the data that shows the most evident indicators of an emergency – a skyrocketing trajectory on all fronts.

The question for us all is how bad things need to get before we finally respect our own national sovereignty and stop allowing the courts to encourage illegal aliens to come here?

...After the media lied to the public throughout the border debate, when we actually had a chance to fix things in the budget, now they suddenly admit we have a crisis at the border. A Washington Post reporter conceded that the numbers were “bonkers.” The New York Times put in a headline the Customs and Border Patrol chief’s warning that the border is at a “breaking point.”

Here are twelve facts about the border apprehension numbers and the trends that demonstrate why the Trump administration should immediately shut down all asylum requests. Now is the president’s opportunity to make a new case to the American people and go beyond simply addressing a few billion in border funding.

76,325 – The number of total illegal aliens and inadmissible aliens apprehended at and between points of entry in the month of February. That is the highest number for a single month since April 2008, but very likely one of the highest months of all time for unique (non-repeating) illegal aliens, given that many of the apprehensions from last decade were multiple crossings of the same individual within hours or days. Today, according to Brandon Judd, president of the National Border Patrol Council, “We rarely arrest the same person twice in one year, much less in the same work shift.”

916,000 – The annual pace of February’s border flow if this continues. But Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) predicts that with the weather getting warmer over the next few months and the incentives for illegal immigration unaddressed, the numbers will grow larger.

40,325 – A record number of family unit apprehensions in February. That beats the record we just set in December 2018 by a whopping 26 percent.

136,150 – The number of family units apprehended between points of entry for the first five months of fiscal year 2019. This far surpasses the numbers for any previous full year.

165,568 – The number of family units apprehended between points of entry since Judge Dana Sabraw ruled last July that all parents or adults brought with children must be released with the children. During that last seven months, as many family units have been apprehended as in the previous 23 months.

2,023% – The percentage increase in monthly family unit apprehensions since the low of the “Trump effect” in April 2017 through February 2019. Yes: 2,023 percent increase.

311% – The percentage increase in family units apprehended by Border Patrol for the first five months of this fiscal year over the first five months of last fiscal year.

97% – The total percentage increase in all illegal alien apprehensions for the first five months of this fiscal year over the first five months of last fiscal year.

1689% – the increase in family units apprehended in the El Paso sector for the first five months of fiscal year 2019 over the same period last year. El Paso saw its highest apprehensions in February since April 2006. And many of those in 2006 were the same people coming back after being deported immediately, and they were deported again. Almost all of these coming in currently remain here indefinitely.

70 – Number of large groups, defined as 100 or more, coming in at once to surrender to border agents and shutting down their resources. There were 13 such groups in FY 2018, mainly in the latter part of the year when this phenomenon began. It was almost unheard of in previous years.

31,000 – The number of projected aliens taken to American hospitals by the end of the year if the current pace holds, as compared to 12,000 last year.

57,000 – The number of man-hours Border Patrol had to spend with aliens in our hospitals just since December 22. According to Brian Hastings, chief of Border Patrol operations, 25-45 percent of Border Patrol resources are now diverted to the processing and humanitarian functions rather than patrolling the border.

The establishment’s opposition to border protections

Neil Munro writes in Breitbart that the Washington Post says that the influx of people illegally migrating into America this month could top 100,000.

...President Donald Trump’s effort to stop illegal migration has been blocked by judges eager to preserve catch-and-release policies set under President Barack Obama, by progressives who are eager to invite the world’s poor into Americans’ homeland, and by business-first Republicans who are eager to aid business and to avoid conflict with Democrats.

Trump initially pushed the cross-border flow down to 16,000 in April 2017. But the migrants — aided by the coyotes, cartels, and American immigration lawyers — have learned how to exploit the catch-and-release rules, which have been created for their benefit by Congress and the courts.

At every turn, this establishment alliance has blocked Trump’s efforts to close the loophole, deter migrants, build a wall, quickly process migrants’ asylum claims, deter stealth crossings, and bargain for political compromises.

The establishment’s opposition to border protections provides extra cheap wage-cutting workers, imports more revenue-boosting consumers, transports more mothers onto U.S. soil, and busses more children into blue-collar schools, regardless of costs, crime and casualties.

Gallup estimates five million newmigrants will come into the US this year. The New York Times admits that there is mass rape of Latino women being brought to America by coyotes.

Donald Trump's brilliant advisor Stephen Miller goes head to head with liberal Chris Wallace. "George Bush did not defend the border," says Miller. "Illegal immigration doubled from 6-12 million by the time Bush left office. That represented an astonishing betrayal of the American people!"

The issue is obviously way too complicated for Wallace to understand. "What you're missing, Chris..." "Can you name one country where American troops are, where there are more deaths than those caused by people coming through our Southern border" Chris answers, "The joy of this is I get to ask you the questions!" He asks the question, then interrupts Miller as he answers. Add Chris Wallace to Juan Williams and Shep Smith as the three most annoying people at Fox News!

McCabe's interview and book: A signed confession!

Joe DiGenova was interviewed on WMAL this morning about last night's 60 Minutes interview of Andrew McCabe. Joe says Scott Pelly and CBS "accidentally performed a public service."

Joe says Bill Barr will be the "worst nightmare" of the people who sought to stage a coup.

Losing the battle but winning the war?

After telling you that I first go to Ace of Spades and Sundance for analysis of political happenings, I just read a very comprehensice analysis at American Spectator by John C. Wohlstetter. One of the things he mentions is

Another, far more appealing wall-funding option comes from Sen. Ted Cruz: use part of the $14 billion confiscated from drug kingpin (and now convicted murderer) El Chapo. The remainder can be budgeted to improve drug searches at the border, the route by which most drugs illegally enter. But it awaits action (unlikely) in Congress.

Wohlstetter also writes about

Chaos and skyrocketing crime numbers: huge jumps in illegal drug imports, 68 percent of migrants reported being subjected to an act of violence, 31 percent of females reported having been sexually assaulted, and criminal groups raking in some $2.5 billion annually. The administration tallies 60,000 UAMs and 161,000 family units having reached the border. There has been an estimated 2,000 percent (20-fold) increase in asylum claims over the past five years, and immigration courts have a backlog of some 800,000 cases.

...Consider the case of El Paso, Texas, across the border from Juarez. In 2006, work began on a 131-mile, two-story high corrugated fence. When completed in 2010, crossings had dropped by 89 percent, from 122,000 to 12,000. In 2012 the total was 9,700, but with the upsurge in crossings they topped 25,000 in 2018. Crime has declined so much — illegal drugs smuggled in to El Paso fell 60 percent in the past decade — that El Paso (pop. 675,000) topped the nation’s list of safest cities with 500,000 or more residents, for the fourth consecutive year. Over a 25-year period, a series of fences/walls (4:39) on the San Diego-Tijuana border saw illegal crossings drop from over 628,000 in FY1986 to some 30,000 today. From one-third of illegal crossings in 1986, by 2017 these were a small fraction of the total. Barrier erections as of January 2017 totaled 653 miles (353 miles of pedestrian and just shy of 300 miles of vehicular barriers, plus 36 miles of secondary fencing).

...Bottom Line. President Trump is entirely justified in declaring a national emergency, per statutes enacted by Congress. Caravan migration of people alleging private threats renders impossible meaningful screening of entry aspirants. It remains to be seen if once again judges from California — the least representative state in the Union — once again steps in. If the lower courts can push a final ruling against the Trump administration past the 2020 election, and if the Democrats win, the incoming administration will surely drop the case. And then duly enacted federal legislation will have once again been bypassed in pursuit of the political goal of importing future Democratic voters — including non-citizens and felons.

The Census Bureau’s estimated 2020 electoral vote apportionment shows the three largest states — California (52 or 53), Texas (39) and Florida (29) — with 120 or 121 electoral votes, or 45 percent of the 270 needed to elect the next president.These three states have the largest immigrant populations, with two of them on the southern border with Mexico.

What is fake? What is real?

When I want to read an analysis of key political events, I read two bloggers: Sundance at The Conservative Treehouse, and Ace at the Ace of Spades blog. They have two very different styles, but they usually come out with similar appraisals of what is going on. For example, the new legislation on funding for border security. Ace writes,

He'll also declare a national emergency, but this bill itself restricts his ability to move money around to build the wall.

...Failure Theater.

And now I fear that Trump has been enlisted as a Lead in this latest performance of Failure Theater, scripted by "Republicans" who pretend to be conservative but ho are actually very much aligned with the urban cosmopolitan liberals.

...So the border itself is in Democrat hands, and you need the support of Democrat local leaders to build the wall.

...Trump would sign a piece of paper forbidding him to do that which he claims he will next do on his own authority.

...Basically, Trump would give up any ability to deport most illegal aliens.

...There are already a huge number of Unaccompanied Alien Children in the US. Each is now a human shield protecting anyone in who could even potentially be a sponsor in the future from deportation.

And of course this makes UACs, who have already been Golden Tickets into the US, that much more valuable, and they will therefore become Standard Traveling Gear for all illegal aliens.

Trump must refuse to sign this bill, demand Congress pass a one-week funding CR, demand Congress strip this bullshit out of the bill and then resubmit it.

Or else he's selling us out. And he can't pretend he doesn't know -- he knows.

We've seen Failure Theater performed enough times. We don't need to see it again.

And let me say this about that cocksucker McConnell: this rat bastard and saboteur is many things, but he is not stupid and he is not uninformed about legislation.

He knows this stuff is in the bill.

He helped put it there, and he's a key part of the sales effort to lie to the rubes once again and tell them it's not in there.

Until we pass it, and then, oops! Tricked again! Those darned Democrats got us, but if you send us money and vote extra hard for us, we promise, next time we'll get 'em....

...Unfortunately, reports indicate Democrat language will be inserted into the DHS funding bill that will allow any town, city, municipality, mayor, city manager or local council within any border state to veto the construction of any structural border security wall or fence.

This definitely sounds like an approach the Lawfare group would be assisting with. Despite overwhelming support from the majority of Americans, the DC Uniparty seems to consistently find a way to usurp national sovereignty. Very frustrating.

The President addresses the crisis at our southern border

Tonight the President will address the nation on the humanitarian and national security crisis on our southern border. Joseph Klein writes in FrontPageMagazine,

...According to statistics compiled by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) presented to Congress, there were dramatic increases between FY (Fiscal Year)17 and FY18 in deadly illegal drugs at the southern border. In FY18 the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) seized or helped seize 282,000 lbs of cocaine, 248,000 lbs of methamphetamine, 6,500 lbs of heroin and 2,400 lbs of fentanyl. CBP and border agents seized 17,000 adults at the southern border with existing criminal records during FY18. During FY17, DHS prevented 3,755 known or suspected terrorists from traveling to or entering the U.S., although it is unclear how many were apprehended trying to cross the southern border. Of course, even one terrorist sneaking into this country from Mexico is one too many.

There are inadequate detention facilities to hold the illegal immigrants and would-be asylum seekers apprehended in this country. Loopholes in the existing immigration laws often result in the release of would-be asylum-seekers into U.S. communities until their cases can be heard. The current immigration system is failing and, as a result, the security of Americans is imperiled by undeterred illegal migration.

Contrary to Democrats’ talking points, the use of well-constructed physical barriers is the morally right thing to do as part of a multi-pronged approach to stem the tide of illegal immigration. Some Democrats, such as Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, supported the authorization of barrier fences in the past when they voted for the Secure Fence Act of 2006. They are only opposing them now for crass political reasons. Morality has nothing to do with their hypocritical obstructionism. By building and publicizing visible physical deterrents to those considering illegal crossings, the barriers reduce the likelihood of deaths or serious illnesses from dangerous treks and potentially lethal confrontations. Moreover, physical barriers work if properly constructed. Israel’s large sensor-rigged, razor wire-lined border fence with Egypt has cut the number of illegal immigrants entering Israel by 99 percent.

President Trump will take to the airwaves in a national address at 9:00PM Eastern tonight that will be carried by the networks (who were insisting they would not air it and then caved), with some sort of Democrat response on CNN. He is also planning a trip to the border this Thursday. The President has stated he was strongly considering declaring a national emergency over the issue of border security and the decades-long lack of any via active sabotage by the Democrats and their GOP confederates. Considering that we potentially have upwards of 10% of our population residing here illegally, which is a massive drain and cancer on every aspect of our society and economy - which not coincidentally serves to bolster the Democrats and their allies who seek the overthrow and destruction of America as founded for their benefit - it is a national crisis on a par with war. In fact, all things considered, it is a war since our government, society and way of life are in mortal danger. It's just that the enemy is essentially an internal one - both the 20-30 million illegal aliens and the Democrat Party itself. And now that the Democrat-Left controls the House, beyond all the impeachment rhetoric, we have the insane talk of abolishing the electoral college as well as trying to further destroy the Senate (as if the 17th amendment wasn't enough) being belched up all over the place from the usual gaggle of Leftist sub-morons and tyrants (BIRM). And then I have to read about Nancy Palsi's dentures clattering out some galling remark that Trump wants to abolish Congress. Don't make my mouth water, lady.

Logic
