This blog is looking for wisdom, to have and to share. It is also looking for other rare character traits like good humor, courage, and honor. It is not an easy road, because all of us fall short. But God is love, forgiveness and grace. Those who believe in Him and repent of their sins have the promise of His Holy Spirit to guide us and show us the Way.

Is the GOP the Party of Democrat Lite?
Former Congressman Tom Tancredo, whom you may remember was a GOP candidate for president in 2008, has written a piece in Breitbart, announcing that he is quitting the Republican Party.
In a panel discussion at the University of Colorado after the recent Republican debate, I was asked by a student why she should be a Republican. The question forced me to ask myself the same thing.Read more here.
I gave the young woman the standard talking points–that Republicans believe in smaller government, individual rights, fiscal responsibility, and free enterprise. But as I drove home, her question–and my inability to respond with any level of real conviction–got me thinking: Does the Republican Party leadership fight for these values and principles today?
After much thought, I reluctantly concluded that the answer is “no.” The proudly socialist Democrats are full of passionate intensity, while the Republican leadership is full of pathetic excuses. After this week’s House GOP “budget deal,” which betrays nearly every promise made to grassroots conservatives since 2010, I have decided it is time to end my affiliation with the Republican Party.
This decision has been incubating over the past 17 years, years of watching the downward spiral of the Party of Lincoln and Reagan into the Party of Democrat Lite.
...What I will do instead is join the largest political group in the nation, unaffiliated Independents. In Colorado, they outnumber both “major” political parties.
The next day I will begin working my tail off for the next twelve months to organize Independents to help elect Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) as President of the United States. Cruz is the only candidate who both understands the left’s agenda and has demonstrated the courage to fight for our liberties, our sovereignty, and the survival of constitutional government.

Stop Chris Christie Now
Tom Tancredo is a controversial man. When he was in Congress he was known for his outspoken disapproval of illegal immigration, an issue that many Americans have now apparently come to agree with him on. He also spoke out against the threat of Islamic jihad. Later, he ran for governor in Colorado as a representative of something called the Conservative Party, after Republicans nominated a man who had no chance to win. That infuriated many Republicans in Colorado, who have not forgiven him.
One of the things Tancredo did was to come out strongly for Amendment 64, the bill legalizing marijuana in Colorado. He did it because he is for individual liberty. He is against the nanny state, whereby government leaders try to control individual freedoms. I voted against Amendment 64, and would do so again, because I believe drug dealers do not care about the danger to children of the widespread availability of edible marijuana that looks like candy.
Nevertheless, I respect Tancredo. His latest endeavor is to form a PAC called Stop Chris Christie Now.org. I agree with him that Chris Christie is a bully. Here is a recent video showing him bullying a man who wants him to help families that lost their homes in Hurricane Sandy.
Here is the man Christie was bullying in the video above.

"Totally unethical, but it’s obviously not illegal, nor is it unique,”
Polls in Colorado show that the GOP primary race for governor is close. Former Congressman Tom Tancredo leads former Congressman Beauprez by only two points. Democrats think Tancredo would be easy to beat, so they are investing lots of money in t.v. ads to try to help Tancredo get the nomination!
Tancredo has been an outspoken opponent of illegal immigration, and was a supporter of Amendment 64, which legalized recreational marijuana in Colorado. He has taken an unusual approach in the primaries, avoiding debates with the other three candidates, yet still managing to lead in the polls. You may remember that Tancredo ran for President in 2008, primarily against illegal immigration and terrorism. He famously suggested that if Islamic terrorists pull off a nuclear attack in America, we should consider bombing Mecca and other Muslim holy sites. Tancredo taught history in an Arvada, Colorado middle school before running for and being elected to the Colorado House of Representatives. Reagan appointed him Regional Director of the Department of Education in Denver in 1981, and he stayed in that position for eleven years.
Friend of mine who know Tancredo say he is affable, although one friend refuses to forgive him for running as the Constitutional party's candidate against the Republican and Democrat candidates for governor in 2010. One never knows what is going to come out of Tancredo's mouth. For example, in 2010 he proposed a "civics literacy test" for voting. He has been urging that Obama be impeached since at least 2010.

Denver pollster Floyd Ciruli said the Democrats’ goal is “to get not only what they perceive as the weakest candidate against Hickenlooper, but also the candidate that could potentially in their view cause the most damage and be the easiest to attack.”
Complete Colorado reports that Protect Colorado Values has invested $89,000 in running the ads on one Denver television station alone, and has contracted to air the spots on another station.
“I personally believe it is totally unethical, but it’s obviously not illegal, nor is it unique,” said Mr. Ciruli

Tancredo had also called for the abolition of the Congressional Black Caucus, the Democratic Congressional Hispanic Caucus and the Republican Congressional Hispanic Caucus. He said about these caucuses "It is utterly hypocritical for Congress to extol the virtues of a colorblind society while officially sanctioning caucuses that are based solely on race," and "If we are serious about achieving the goal of a colorblind society, Congress should lead by example and end these divisive, race-based caucuses."[101]Please read more here.
