Donald Trump Jr. on fire!

De Niro needs dinero

In bizpacreview, Vivek Saxena brings us information about one of Hollywood's leading Trump haters, Robert De Niro.
“A chain of luxury restaurants and boutique hotels co-owned by actor Robert De Niro received at least 14 loans through the taxpayer-funded Paycheck Protection Program, according to government filings released Monday,” Fox Business reported Tuesday.

“The aid, part of the federal government’s $670 billion efforts to staunch the economic pain of the coronavirus pandemic and help small businesses avert mass layoffs, was worth at least $11.4 million and as much as $27.7 million, the data shows. The chain received relief for properties across the country, from Malibu, California to New York City.”

It's our culture! It's not imported from some African or Asian country!

One tweet and some quotes

Tom Fitton tweeted,
We know Ilhan Omar wants to dismantle America and supports a terrorist front group -- but the question is should she should get a pass from feds despite evidence of immigration, tax, fraud and election finance crimes? Where are the FBI, DOJ, IRS, etc.?

The following quotes are from an article in the December 23, 2019 New Yorker in an article by Peter Schjeldahl.
"Advice to aspiring youth: in New York the years that you spend as a nobody are painful but golden because no one bothers to lie to you. The moment you're a somebody, you have heard your last truth."

"Disbelieving is toilsome. It can be a pleasure for adolescent brains with energy to spare, but hanging on to it later saps and rigidifies. After a Lutheran upbringing, I became an atheist at the onset of puberty. That wore off gradually and then, with sobriety, speedily."

Note to anyone who knows an active alcoholic: never, ever sympathize. If you suspect you are going to, shut your eyes, plug your ears, and hum."

"A thing about dying is that you can't consult anyone who has done it. No rehearsals. No mulligans."

A lot of that going on!

Mount Trumpmore

Introducing his Week in Pictures today at PowerLine, Steven Hayward writes,
I remember back at the very end of the Reagan presidency when R. Emmett Tyrrell proposed in the pages of the American Spectator that Reagan be added to Mount Rushmore, just to watch liberals have an embolism. Well, now that the left wants to take down Mount Rushmore for the sin of being built on “unceded native American land” plus slave-owning (Washington, Jefferson), colonialism (TR), and all-around hatred for greatness (Lincoln), the time has obviously come for us to call for replacing those four with Trump—just Trump. You think leftists are crazy now. . .

"If you are a friend of Trump, getting a fair trial in the District of Columbia is a challenge, if not an impossibility"

In Fox News, Gregg Jarrett writes in part,
If you are a friend of Trump, getting a fair trial in the District of Columbia is a challenge, if not an impossibility, especially in a politically charged case. In the last presidential election, 90.5 percent of the ballots in the nation’s capital were cast in favor of Hillary Clinton. A scant 4.1 percent of votes were cast for Trump.

Suspicions of a wrongful conviction against Stone became more acute when new evidence emerged after his trial that justice may have been undone by a jury foreperson who harbored a disqualifying bias.

Tomeka Hart, the foreperson, is a Democratic activist who voiced extreme anti-Trump opinions that were largely concealed during jury selection. Before she was ever picked for the trial, Hart posted numerous social media comments highly critical of Trump and actively engaged in protests against him.

Even worse, in a string of posts Hart commented negatively about the Stone case itself, praised the Mueller investigation and suggested that the president and his supporters (such as Stone) were racists.

Hart referred to Trump with the hashtag “klanpresident.” She should never, under any circumstances, have been sitting in judgment of Stone. Hart must have known this, inasmuch as she is a lawyer.

As I pointed out in a previous column, Hart’s record is indicative of a manifest prejudice against Stone by virtue of his close association with Trump. Because Hart was the foreperson who had the ability to guide and even induce other jurors to convict Stone, it is likely that he was deprived of his constitutional right to an impartial jury and a fair trial,

Predictably, U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson, who was appointed to the bench by President Barack Obama, denied a motion for a new trial for Stone.

The judge blamed Stone’s attorneys for not uncovering evidence of bias before the trial commenced. Under the law, that is not an excuse for refusing to overturn a tainted conviction by granting a new trial.

When our imperfect system of justice fails the president is constitutionally empowered to issue either a pardon or a commutation. Indeed, he may do so for either a good reason or no reason at all.

President Trump did not pardon Stone, which would have absolved him of his convicted crimes. Rather, Trump commuted Stone’s sentence of 40 months in prison.

Stone’s convictions will stand, unless a higher court reverses them on appeal. The political and media backlash will be severe, to be sure. But that has never deterred Trump before and should not in the future.

The contorted case of Roger Stone is a sad coda to the work of Robert Mueller. As Trump tweeted last month, Stone was “a victim of a corrupt and illegal Witch Hunt, one which will go down as the greatest political crime in history. He can sleep well at night!”

Stone has suffered enough, He deserves to sleep in his own bed.

Heated air filter kills coronavirus instantly!

Nick Givas reports in Fox News,
Researchers at the University of Houston claimed to have designed a special air filter that can trap the novel coronavirus and blast it with heat to kill the disease on contact.

Dr. Zhifeng Ren, director of the Texas Center of Superconductivity at UH, is the brains behind the project, the Houston Chronicle reported.

Ren worked with Medistar CEO Monzer Hourani to bring about a "unique design" made from heated nickel foam, which was detailed in a paper published by Materials Today Physics.

Researchers reportedly conducted tests at Galveston National Laboratory and found that 99.8 percent of the novel coronavirus that causes COVID-19 was killed "instantly," after a single pass through the filter. The process does, however, require the foam to be heated at 392 degrees Fahrenheit.

“This filter could be useful in airports and in airplanes, in office buildings, schools and cruise ships to stop the spread of COVID-19,” Ren explained. “Its ability to help control the spread of the virus could be very useful for society.”

He also said Medistar is looking into offering smaller personalized models that could purify the air around a single employee's desk or work station, according to the Chronicle.

Dr. Garrett Peel of Medistar, who helped craft the design, suggested that the filters be deployed to "high-priority venues where essential workers are at elevated risk of exposure (particularly schools, hospitals and health care facilities, as well as public transit environs such as airplanes),"

"It's basically a high-performance COVID-19 killer," he said. "This is safe and effective. We want to roll this out of Texas first and start deploying them in schools, nursing homes. This unit could be deployed in 60 days."

"It provides an extra sense of security, knowing that our children and elderly are protected," Peel added. 'We need our leaders to step up and create private and public partnerships to get this product into our schools and protect our children."

The free Iran movement

In PJ Media, Tyler O'Neil reports on a major summit that will take place one week from today.
Next Friday, the international resistance to Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, organized by the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) and the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (MEK), will meet for a massive global summit. The summit aims to rally the West against the mullahs, exposing the Iran regime’s terrorism and its horrific response to the Chinese coronavirus pandemic, which the opposition claims has killed nearly 70,000 in Iran (the regime’s reported count is 12,000). The summit also aims to energize “Resistance Units” in Iran, building the movement from inside, as well as outside, the country.

“The gathering will echo the demands of the Iranian people expressed in the November 2019 and January 2020 uprisings for regime change,” MEK spokesman Shahin Gobadi, who is based in Paris, told PJ Media in a statement. “Activities of the Resistance Units inside Iran will be a major feature of the unique event, which will be watched throughout the country.”

“Iranians and hundreds of political dignitaries and lawmakers will join them and will warn about the mullahs’ growing use of terrorism. They will urge the international community to adopt a resolute policy in response to Tehran’s human rights abuses, terrorism, and proliferation of weapons of mass destruction,” Gobadi added.

Ramesh Sepehrrad, a Ph.D. professor at the School of Conflict Analysis and Resolution at George Mason University, hailed the tenacity of the free Iran movement.

“The free Iran movement stands on four decades of hard-earned experiences and sacrifices, and continues to grow at home and abroad through the leadership of an organized and authentic opposition group,” Sepehrrad told PJ Media. “Resiliency, audacity, and steadfastness seen among the Iranian diaspora in organizing such an elaborate global summit is just one dimension of it. The other dimension is seen among the youth, women, labor movement, teachers’ unions, and the broader population who organize and support the engine for change at home.”

“The nationwide protests and total rejection of the regime is multi-generational and cuts across all sectors of the society,” Sepehrrad insisted. “Even the regime’s insiders are speaking of the imminent downfall. It is for this reason this global summit, taking place online during the pandemic, will draw in thousands in solidarity with the people of Iran. It is a historic event to watch, research, and study.”

The summit will take place in cities around the globe, including Washington, D.C., Paris, and Berlin, linked via an internet live-stream. Persians inside Iran, ex-patriots, resistance leaders, foreign dignitaries, and journalists will attend in person or virtually.

Notable foreign dignitaries include former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Al Gore’s 2000 running-mate former Sen. Joe Lieberman (D-Conn.), former French Defense Minister Michรจle Alliot-Marie, former Italian Foreign Minister Giulio Terzi, Canada’s former Minister of Foreign Affairs John Baird, former U.S. Attorney General Michael Mukasey, and former U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Human Rights Commission Ken Blackwell.

"Roger Stone is now a free man!"

The staff at Just the News reports,
President Trump on Friday commuted the prison sentence of former political adviser Roger Stone, days before he was to report to a federal prison for a 40 month term.

"Roger Stone is a victim of the Russia Hoax that the Left and its allies in the media perpetuated for years in an attempt to undermine the Trump Presidency. There was never any collusion between the Trump Campaign, or the Trump Administration, with Russia," said White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany.

"Mr. Stone would be put at serious medical risk in prison. He has appealed his conviction and is seeking a new trial. He maintains his innocence and has stated that he expects to be fully exonerated by the justice system. Mr. Stone, like every American, deserves a fair trial and every opportunity to vindicate himself before the courts. The President does not wish to interfere with his efforts to do so. At this time, however, and particularly in light of the egregious facts and circumstances surrounding his unfair prosecution, arrest, and trial, the President has determined to commute his sentence. Roger Stone has already suffered greatly. He was treated very unfairly, as were many others in this case. Roger Stone is now a free man!"

In the Detroit News, George Hunter brings us a video report.
An investigation into a mass shooting on the city's west side begat more violence Friday when police say a man shot at officers who returned fire, killing him near the spot where three people were slain and five others wounded last week.

Officers from the 12th Precinct's Gang Intelligence Unit and Operation CeaseFire detail were near San Juan and McNichols investigating a July 5 shooting at a block party when more violence broke out about 12:15 p.m. Friday, police chief James Craig said.
Protesters shouted obscenities and threw multiple projectiles at the police.

The bloggers at 100% Fed Up have revealed that although 65% of all police cars are made by Ford, the Ford Foundation donates millions to "Defund the police" movement.
Since 2016, Ford Foundation has given roughly $7.8 million to Black Lives Matters and other similar groups through a partnership with Borealis Philanthropy. These groups are now the public face of the Defund the Police movement.

But the movement was born from a group seeded by the Foundation back in 2015 called Black Youth Project 100 (BYP100) at the University of Chicago. Their mission was to “Disband, Disarm, Disempower” the police.

Since the group’s founding, the Ford Foundation has given them $3.1 million. BYP100 now serves as central command – recruiting protesters, providing professional protester training, and coordinating protests in cities across the U.S.

"We’re in the middle of a chicken game"

F.H. Buckley writes in part in the American Spectator,
We’ve gone to the next level, with the looting and rioting. In the last month major cities have become unsafe, as rioters work out the logic of what “resistance” means. American stores lost hundreds of millions of dollars, and merchants boarded up their stores for protection. Nothing to see here, folks, said the liberal media, which gaslighted the looting and the boarded-up storefronts, and portrayed the riots as peaceful protests against an illegitimate president.

...We’re in the middle of a chicken game, where the Left tells us they’ll let this go on as long as Trump is president. The liberal media will ignore the riots, the liberal mayors will tell the local police to stand down, the liberal prosecutors will promptly release anyone arrested. Try to defend yourself, and you’ll find yourself prosecuted.

What would help black Americans, concretely, is a reversal of Democratic policies. Our inner-city public schools would benefit from the competition that state supported private and parochial schools would offer. After last week’s Espinoza decision in the Supreme Court, that’s constitutionally permissible. Democrats won’t touch this, however, for fear of upsetting the teachers’ unions that are one of its core supporters.

Our immigration policies take jobs from black Americans. Other countries admit high-skilled immigrants who compete jobs away from high-skilled natives. We admit low-skilled immigrants who compete jobs away from the most fragile of Americans, especially blacks. A 10 percent increase in immigrant workers in a particular skill group was reported to reduce black wages by 2.5 percent and lower their employment rate by 5.9 percentage points. If Black Lives Matter, that should be an issue, but for Democrats Hispanic votes count for more than black ones on immigration issues.

The Left talks a good line about helping black Americans. What it forgets to mention is that it’s their policies that harm them. One might think this stupid, were it not so hypocritical.

"We already arrested over 150 people on federal charges, and we have over 500 investigations underway going on across the nation focused on these hardcore instigators involved in this rioting,"

Ronn Blitzer reports in Fox News,
Attorney General Bill Barr gave an update Thursday on the federal investigations into rioting that took place across the nation in the aftermath of George Floyd's death.

Barr had previously announced that the Justice Department had evidence that outside instigators -- including individuals connected to Antifa --- were behind some of the violence that appeared to spin out of peaceful protests against police brutality. The attorney general said that "legitimate demonstrations" were "hijacked" by these outside actors, and that federal law enforcement is "building up our intelligence" on the alleged instigators.

"We already arrested over 150 people on federal charges, and we have over 500 investigations underway going on across the nation focused on these hardcore instigators involved in this rioting," Barr said during a federal and local law enforcement roundtable discussion in Arkansas.

Will Portland voters thank President Trump in November?

Andy Ngo reports on Twitter,
Seven people arrested at violent #antifa protests and riots in Portland are facing federal charges for assaulting federal officers and destroying property at the federal courthouse.

Victoria Taft reports in PJ Media,
For six hours on July 2-3, federal officers had to hold the line at the shattered main doorway of the federal courthouse in Portland as antifa terrorists assaulted them with IEDs, M-80s, mortars, bricks and other objects.

Rioters shone lasers into the eyes of the officers as they fought to hold the door to protect the battered courthouse. According to a news release from the Department of Justice, antifa rioters attacked officers with a variety of objects in addition to threatening their lives. Officers sent to “protect the courthouse have been subjected to threats; aerial fireworks including mortars; high intensity lasers targeting officers’ eyes; thrown rocks, bottles, and balloons filled with paint from demonstrators while performing their duties.”

...Portland has been under siege by these terrorists for years.

AG Bill Barr and the Trump administration are finally doing something about it.

It’s unlikely, however, that there will be any thanks from Leftist Portland to President Trump for beginning to restore peace.

What we can expect

Judicial Watch reported,
The recently appointed Facebook oversight board that will decide which posts get blocked from the world’s most popular social networking website is stacked with leftists, including a close friend of leftwing billionaire George Soros who served on the board of directors of his Open Society Foundations (OSF). Judicial Watch conducted a deep dive into the new panel that will make content rulings for the technology company that was slammed last year with a $5 billion fine for privacy violations. The information uncovered by Judicial Watch shows that the group of 20 is overwhelmingly leftist and likely to restrict conservative views. More than half of the members have ties to Soros, the philanthropist who dedicates huge sums to spreading a radical left agenda that includes targeting conservative politicians. Other Facebook oversight board members have publicly expressed their disdain for President Donald Trump or made political contributions to top Democrats such as Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and Elizabeth Warren. As one New York newspaper editorial determined this month, the new Facebook board is a “recipe for left-wing censorship.”

Hey, it is not easy being a Congressperson. We can't just let that money sit there being unspent!

Mike Brest reports in the Washington Examiner,
Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar has paid nearly $900,000 to her new husband's consulting firm since he began working for her in 2018.

The freshman congresswoman from Minnesota gave Tim Mynett, whom she married in March, $292,814.99 from her campaign this year for digital advertising, fundraising consulting, and research services, according to the Federal Election Commission filings, the New York Post first reported on Tuesday. All together, Omar has paid Mynett's firm $878,930.65 the entire time Mynett had worked for Omar's campaign.

Omar's payments to Mynett's firm prompted an ethics complaint in August after Mynett's then-wife alleged in a divorce filing that Mynett was having an affair with the congresswoman while working as a paid consultant. Omar was married to her second husband at the time.

Standing against the communist regime

Sara Carter brings us the story of Hong Kong's Andy Chan Ho-Tin.
For Hong Kong pro-democracy activist Andy Chan Ho-Tin, China’s recent passage of its draconian national security law is an omen of what awaits him and others for standing against the communist regime. Chan’s voice is the voice of so many millions around the world who speak out against the oppression but for activists, like Chan, the stakes are much higher.

I have not been able to speak with Chan since the passage of China’s new harsh national security law which was enacted on June 30. It has basically made it a crime for residents of Hong Kong, or for that matter the world, to speak out against the Chinese Communist regime. Moreover, those that have spoken out can and are being monitored continuously by the state and can be jailed for small infractions the Chinese government deems political.

Chan is someone I have great admiration for. He is the founder of the now disbanded Hong Kong National Party and has been nominated for the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize for his work to promote independence and liberty for the people of Hong Kong. He was always well aware that his actions could lead to his arrest or disappearance but his love for Hong Kong was worth all the risk, he told me.

Freedom isn’t just a word to Chan, it is deeply engrained into his political core and is an ideal he believes belongs to every citizen of his island nation, and for that matter the world.

Two politicians who hate America

"If you're outside enjoying yourself or contributing to the economy, I'll get you, my pretty! And your seeds too!"

From the satirical Babylon Bee:
U.S.—Governors across the country have reinstated lockdowns mere weeks after slowly starting to lift them, citing a "concerning spike" in jobs and the economy.

Worried that the increase in jobs, prosperity, and happiness would hurt them in November, they reacted to the economic upturn quickly, shutting down businesses and locking people back in their homes.

"We can't let this economic spike continue," said California Governor Gavin Newsom. "That would go against SCIENCE. The SCIENTISTS say that locking down an entire population is the best way to prevent dangerous economic spikes."

"Also, we wanted to mention that this message was brought to you by PlumpJack Estate Winery. Use code NEWSOM for 10% off your next tasting!"

The governors noticed that people were happier with their lives, glad they could go back to work and reopen their businesses, and having fun outside. Unable to tolerate this kind of freedom and general satisfaction with life in the age of Trump, they scrambled to lock back down.

"We're seeing a concerning rise in the number of people disregarding the government and going on with their lives," said Governor Gretchen Whitmer. "If you're outside enjoying yourself or contributing to the economy, I'll get you, my pretty! And your seeds too!"

"Totally worth it"

From the satirical Babylon Bee:
BEAVERTON, OR—All upper management personnel and top executives at Nike's headquarters have, sadly, passed away after they voluntarily stopped breathing.

They did this because Colin Kaepernick called their offices in a rage once he discovered they were breathing since racists in the 18th century also breathed.

"I thought we understood one another," Kaepernick said before quoting Frederick Douglass out of context in a passioned speech to the entire Nike board. "But then I heard you guys were still breathing. I thought you were better than that. You know who else breathed? Racists like George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Benjamin Franklin."

"Honestly, if you want me to endorse your brand the next time I play a pickup game of football at the local park, you're gonna need to cancel your breathing." One exec attempted to protest, but Kaepernick wasn't having it. "I said your breathing is CANCELLED."

Realizing they had very little choice, the whole Nike leadership team saluted one another, held their noses, passed out, and died.

"Totally worth it," one exec said before the blackness took him.

"the calling out of "Black Lives Matter" as the terrorist organization that it is"

In his Morning Report in the Ace of Spades blog, JJ Sefton tackles some important subjects today.
Good morning, kids. Tuesday, and for the first time ever, I am getting a definite sense that American Blacks are finally seeing the multi-generational abuse they have suffered at the hands of the Democrat Party. It is beyond tragic that it has taken the senseless, horrific shooting deaths of their children - at the hands of other Blacks - to make the scales begin to fall from their eyes. Actually, as appalling as these slayings are, including this one in where a car rolls up to a man holding his daughter's hand as they cross a Bronx street, and is gunned down in broad daylight, it has been the constant drumbeat of "Black Lives Matter" since the incident in Minneapolis which rings hollow and hypocritical in the extreme to the families of Black on Black crime that I believe is engendering a sea change politically and culturally that may well prove one of the most significant in decades.

The generational helplessness, hopelessness, dissolution and in fact genocide of American Blacks, is solely the fault of the Democrat Party. Yet the concomitant big lie that it's the fault of Republicans, America as founded, white people and "systemic racism" force fed on all of us by the brainwashing mills that are our schools, the media and a Republican Party that allowed themselves to be blood-libeled, never had any real pushback - until the coming of Donald Trump. Is he the second coming of the Great Emancipator? Who knows? But year after year, decade after decade, Republican politicians had ample opportunities to speak the blunt truths about all of they above. All they did, as they always do on every damned issue, was to accept the Democrat narrative (and in so doing further reinforce it as emmes truth) utter mea culpas, promise to change their evil ways, and then reach across the aisle in shaking down the taxpayer for more welfare, graft and bureaucracy.

At first, I found it galling in the extreme that Trump's magnificent Mount Rushmore speech was smeared as "divisive" by the Democrat-Media Complex as well as quite a few flunkies and traitors among the cuck-servative set. But, as the saying goes, you take the most flak when you're right over the target. How could defending the greatest nation and society (warts and all) that has and will ever exist in history, be divisive unless one believes the exact opposite? As I stated yesterday, no other president or Republican leader in my lifetime, with maybe the exception of Reagan, ever defended the nation so forcefully and eloquently when it was under direct assault from internal enemies as Trump did.

Given the circumstances, I think it would be in Trump's and indeed the nation's interest for him to deliver an equally blunt and honest speech about what is going on in our cities, the calling out of "Black Lives Matter" as the terrorist organization that it is, and the slow-motion genocide of American Blacks at the hands of the Democrat-Socialist enterprise. That's another reason why the Mount Rushmore speech was smeared as divisive; to prevent Trump from dropping the mother of all truth nukes on this big lie.

Well, he did get a multimillion dollar Paycheck Protection Plan loan

I am sure you have heard by now that Kanye West has announced he is running for president. With support from fellow billionaires Elon Musk, Mark Cuban, and Kanye's wife, Kim Kardashian, Roger L. Simon notes in the Epoch Times,

Finding a way to virtue signal

From the satirical Babylon Bee:
U.S.—Leftists who support killing 3,000 babies a day were trying to virtue-signal but quickly ran into a problem: there's no one alive to whom they can feel morally superior. So, the movement was forced to look to people from 200 years ago to find someone they could somewhat credibly criticize for moral failings.

"We had a tough time finding people we could feel superior to that are currently living," said Leaf Rivers, a white BLM activist in Portland as he googled "how to tear down a statue if you don't have any muscles." "So, we were forced to turn to the archives. Sure enough, we feel a lot better about our own moral issues when we compare ourselves to the moral failings of people from centuries ago."

"It's the only way to keep any sense of self-righteousness."

"Look how much better we are than these people from hundreds of years ago!" the baby murder supporters shouted as a statue of Frederick Douglass came tumbling to the ground. Their virtue-signaling accomplished, they then returned to protesting for a woman's right to kill her unborn baby at any time for any reason.

Yes, there are times when we do not softly submit!

JT Lewis tweeted,

Maria Bartiroma does her usual excellent job of questioning, and Bill Barr is so low key I thought he might dose off!

“We stand tall, we stand proud—and we only kneel to Almighty God.” Colin Kaepernick was unavailable for comment.

Writing in American Greatness, Roger Kimball asserts his belief that
Looking back on the 2020 election, historians will say the Mt. Rushmore speech was the moment that Donald Trump won reelection.

Donald Trump did not mention Lincoln’s First Inaugural address in his speech commemorating the spirit of American Independence at Mount Rushmore on Friday night. But the president’s speech—perhaps his most forceful and eloquent to date—vibrated with the same energy and existential commitment that fired Lincoln in March 1861.

Lincoln came to office at a time of crisis. His election had precipitated the secession of seven Southern states. His inaugural address was both a plea for conciliation and unity as well as a warning that violence would be stopped with force. “We are not enemies, but friends,” Lincoln said.

"Though passion may have strained it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory, stretching from every battlefield and patriot grave to every living heart and hearthstone all over this broad land, will yet swell the chorus of the Union, when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature."

Donald Trump issued a kindred invitation to unity in the midst of conflict.

...The president’s speech was a passionate celebration of American freedom and American greatness—a greatness, he noted, that was embodied by the sublime majesty of the heads of Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, and Teddy Roosevelt sculpted into the granite pinnacle of Mt. Rushmore.

"Our nation is witnessing a merciless campaign to wipe out our history, defame our heroes, erase our values, and indoctrinate our children. Angry mobs are trying to tear down statues of our founders, deface our most sacred memorials, and unleash a wave of violent crime in our cities. Many of these people have no idea why they are doing this, but some know exactly what they are doing. They think the American people are weak and soft and submissive. But no, the American people are strong and proud, and they will not allow our country, and all of its values, history, and culture, to be taken from them."

...The president was especially strong in challenging what is perhaps the most obnoxious manifestation of our petulant antinomianism—that species of politically correct intolerance that has come to be called “cancel culture.” In essence, cancel culture is the malignant inversion of liberalism’s defining virtues, openness and tolerance. It is born of historical ignorance and a stunning lack of empathy—an ironic fact, since one of the chief premises of cancel culture is its own supposed superior sensitivity.

...In short, the president has promised to cancel cancel culture. Is that a contradiction, a violation of the spirit of tolerance he has promised to uphold? No.

...The enemies of civilization routinely use and abuse its freedoms in order to destroy it. Candid men understand this and act to prevent it. As G. K. Chesterton put it, “There is a thought that stops thought. That is the only thought that ought to be stopped.”

...The president accurately diagnosed the extent of the malady and its true goal:

"In our schools, our newsrooms—even our corporate boardrooms—there is a new far-left fascism that demands absolute allegiance. If you do not speak its language, perform its rituals, recite its mantras, and follow its commandments, then you will be censored, banished, blacklisted, persecuted and punished. Make no mistake: this left-wing Cultural Revolution is designed to overthrow the American Revolution. In so doing, they would destroy the very civilization that rescued billions from poverty, disease, violence and hunger, and that lifted humanity to new heights of achievement, discovery, and progress."

"The violent mayhem we have seen in the streets of cities run by liberals, is the predictable result of years of extreme indoctrination and bias in education, journalism and other cultural institutions. Against every law of society and nature, our children are taught in school to hate their own country—and to believe that the men and women who built it, were not heroes, but villains. The radicals’ view of American History is a web of lies—all perspective is removed, every virtue is obscured, every motive is twisted, every fact is distorted, and every flaw is magnified until the history is purged and the record is disfigured beyond all recognition."

"The radical ideology attacking our country advances under the banner of Social Justice,” he said. “But in truth, it would demolish both justice and society. It would transform justice into an instrument of division and vengeance, and it would turn our free and inclusive society into a place of repression, domination, and exclusion.”

I also liked what he said about our government’s first obligation—“to care for its own citizens first”—what he said about free speech—“We want free and open debate, not speech codes or cancel culture”—and what he said about law enforcement and the second amendment—eager support for both.

Finally, I liked what he said about equality.

“We believe in equal opportunity, equal justice, and equal treatment for citizens of every race, background, religion, and creed. Every child, of every color—born and unborn—is made in the holy image of God.” Again, can you imagine any Democrat saying that—any of it? It has often been pointed out that black lives do not matter to the Black Lives Matter movement, which is really just a gigantic machine for hoovering up money from left-wing donors and despoiling the institutions and emblems of our civilization.

It is a sad irony indeed that Black Lives Matter is explicitly dedicated to the destruction of the nuclear family—it’s part of their mission statement—since the ruination of the black family, actively abetted by the Democrats’ welfare policies, is largely responsible for the continuing plight of black Americans.

The gospel of the radicals assailing our society today is a gospel of self-abasement. The president preaches a different message: “We stand tall, we stand proud—and we only kneel to Almighty God.”

Colin Kaepernick was unavailable for comment.

Looking back on the 2020 election, historians will say that last night’s speech was the moment that Donald Trump won reelection. It was a magnificent speech that will, I predict, take an honored place in the library of great American political addresses.

Hope you had a good celebration of America today!

I hope you watched. If not, the video is still available on YouTube

Protecting ourselves

In Instapundit, Glenn Reynolds links to an article in the Wall Street Journal,
Patricia and Mark McCloskey are the couple made instantly famous—or infamous—after a video showed them wielding firearms as they fended off protesters who had trespassed on private property outside their St. Louis home.

The Circuit Attorney for St. Louis, Kimberly Gardner, reacted by issuing a statement saying she planned an investigation, and that her office will not tolerate any effort to chill peaceful protest by the “threat of deadly force.” Never mind that Mr. McCloskey says he and his wife feared they’d be killed. As they told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, “the only thing that kept those mobsters, that crowd, away from us is that we were standing there with guns.”

If soaring gun sales are a guide, millions of Americans are with the McCloskeys. This week the FBI announced a record 3.9 million background checks for June, the highest monthly total since the FBI began keeping the statistic in 1998. Adjusting to reflect checks only for gun purchases, the National Shooting Sports Foundation says this works out to 2.2 million, a 136% increase over June 2019. NSSF spokesman Mark Oliva says about 40% of these checks are for first-time gun buyers.

This is a warning to the Defund the Police movement about unintended consequences. The more progressives push policies that mean cops won’t be around when people need them, the more they are inviting Americans to exercise their Second Amendment rights to protect themselves.

Some early Independence Day tweets

Senator Mike Lee tweeted,
Senate Democrats just objected to a simple resolution condemning mob violence in our streets. People are being shot. Businesses are being looted. Communities are burning and Democrats are refusing to condemn this behavior!

Tammy Bruce tweeted,
The @nytimes is really mad, & liberals are freaking out. Once again, Trump didn’t fold and came punching back. They hate him for that, & for exposing how WEAK AND DUMB they are. In other words, @realDonaldTrump hit a home run. Thank you Mr. President for having our backs

James Woods tweeted,
I looked up images of Melanie at Mount Rushmore last night. I wanted to post one, as her radiant style was so inspiring. She smiled all night, yet I can’t find a single picture of her smiling at Mount Rushmore on Google.

Rich Lowry tweeted,

"My memory cognitives are per-perfect, they're perfect," Biden insisted. "If my brain is no anymore not work, could I do this?"

From the satirical Babylon Bee:
WILMINGTON, DE—With citizens and media figures questioning Joe Biden's mental fitness to become president, Biden took to the internet yesterday to shut down the naysayers once and for all. On a live video from his basement, Biden held up a Fisher-Price See 'n Say and flawlessly recited all the sounds animals can make.

"My memory cognitives are per-perfect, they're perfect," Biden insisted. "If my brain is no anymore not work, could I do this?"

Biden then began to go through all the common farm animals and the sounds they make, starting with "cow," which says "moo." He got into a little trouble with the chicken, which he thought said "quack," but after some help from his live-in nurse, he got back on track.

After reciting all the animal sounds almost perfectly, Biden smiled smugly, dropped the mic, and cut the feed.

After the video, CNN praised Biden's performance and reported an immediate 382% increase in Biden's poll numbers.

Choose greatness for America!

Defund anarchy, Create a new revolution that will make our Founders proud!

In Conservative Review, Daniel Horowitz assesses the state of our country and offers some suggestions for where we can go from here.
So, where do we go from here? As we formulate a long-term solution to a problem that is much greater than any of us can deal with alone, we need to build an immediate movement and take steps. The first step is to rise up and fight back. Until now, only the mob’s voices have been heard, because there is nobody else on the playing field. Nobody is representing us. To that end, we need to think beyond just the electoral process and take back our government under the following short-term propositions:

No American should be restricted by arbitrary coronavirus edicts so long as rioters are able to violate them while destroying public and private property.

No American without a criminal record should be barred from carrying a gun to protect himself from the lawlessness of gun felons who are allowed to roam the streets.

No American should be arrested for self-defense as the police stand back and allow rioters to attack them in cars and on their lawns. Patriotic sheriffs should start programs to deputize and train law-abiding owners to help keep the peace.

No American should have to pay local taxes until that governing authority reclaims the streets and the highways from roving bands of anarchists.

No federal tax funds should go to jurisdictions promoting lawless sanctuaries for the BLM mobs and criminal aliens. Patriots must demand that Trump veto any budget bill in September that does not defund anarchy.

Finally, it’s time we organize citizen defense groups the way our Founders envisioned. No, we are not going to attack and harm innocent people as the governing mob is doing, but we will reclaim our right to defend our lives and property. We all respect law enforcement, but local police departments can’t have it both ways. They can’t abdicate their duties and throw us to the wolves but then swoop in when we try to fill the vacuum for our own protection or punish us for not wearing diapers on our faces even outside.

Just like the Minutemen of the 1770s, we need to form at the local level citizen defense groups to defend life, liberty, and property. After all, what made this great document we commemorate this week more than musings on paper was the signers’ resolve to “mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.” That pledge must be renewed at the local level in parts of the country where patriots are most common. Block by block, city by city, state by state, we must take our country back from the violent modern French revolutionaries and create another great American revolution that will make our Founders proud.

Is Jared Kushner a scapegoat or a saboteur?

In Spectator USA, Amber Athey writes about Trump's "Jared Kushner problem."
After a string of broken promises, policy disappointments and sinking poll numbers, the populist wing of the Republican party knows who is to blame. It’s the President’s son-in-law, the prince of the administration, Jared Kushner.

‘Trump has a Jared problem,’ is how one conservative activist who works with the White House on immigration puts it. ‘Jared is a total fuck-up. Everything he touches turns to lead.’ Others groan about ‘four more years of Jared’ should the President be re-elected in November.

Various sources in, or connected to, the administration are stunned by the amount of power Kushner wields. He is a 39-year-old rich kid who had no experience in government before 2016, yet he is in charge of Middle East diplomacy, police reform, a major immigration reform package, criminal justice reform, PPE procurement during COVID-19 and construction of the border wall.

Several individuals close to the administration claim Kushner’s history as a rather progressive Democrat makes him far more ideological than he lets on, and this causes him to subvert Trump’s populist agenda. ‘The depths and lengths Jared is going to to stab Trump in the back [are] quite profound,’ one source claimed. ‘Trump’s been burned by Jared so many times,’ said another.

"We have ourselves a situation!"

JJ Sefton writes in part in his Morning Report in the Ace of Spades blog,
Antifa and BLM, dangerous as they are, are not the instruments of our doom; it's going to be corporate America, now occupied not by bedraggled citizens - now ex-citizens - of CHAZ-CHOP, but by equally brain-damaged stooges with Ivy League degrees and C-suite titles that potentially will bring us to our knees. Things like Nike no longer selling Washington Redskins merchandise may very well lead to the rapid demise of that team's name in a way that several decades of petitions never could have. And that's just one incident. When you consider the terrifying prospect of China's "social scoring," which our very own Google had a big hand in developing, being implemented here - and it may already be implemented - that is how 315 million of us will be made to care by a relative handful of insurrectionists. Couple that with one political party that is a de-facto enemy alien entity and another that is pretending to defend the Constitution, as well as a thoroughly corrupt bureaucracy and courts, propaganda-spewing media and brainwashing mills for schools and we have ourselves a situation.

Tucker Carlson’s audience is booming — and so is chatter that the popular Fox News host will parlay his TV perch into a run for president in 2024.

Republican strategists, conservative commentators, and former Trump campaign and administration officials are buzzing about Carlson as the next-generation leader of Donald Trump’s movement — with many believing he would be an immediate frontrunner in a Republican primary.A Republican strategist close to the White House added: “If you are a Republican politician and you want to know where Republican voters are, all you have to do is watch Tucker Carlson every night.”

"Redundant"

From the satirical Babylon Bee:

BEIJING—The Chinese government has laid off its entire propaganda arm, cutting thousands of jobs at China Central Television and other state-run media outlets as the American media is already doing their job for them.

"It seemed kinda redundant for us to have a state-run media when we have the American press," said President Xi at a press conference Monday. "The American media is carrying water for us. It's pretty incredible. We unleashed a virus on the world and lied about it for months, and the American press can't stop praising us. As long as they make their orange leader look bad, they'll repeat any line we feed them."

"Really, we Commies could learn a lot from the propaganda of the press over in America," he added admiringly.

The Communist dictator sat the nervous, state-owned journalists down and asked them, "What would you say you do there?" to which they responded, "We take the propaganda and tell it to the people." But President Xi wasn't fooled, saying that the American press already does that and the redundancy would be eliminated.

Luckily for the state-owned journalists and broadcasters who lost their jobs in China today, CNN was hiring.

"I offer you the gift of social enlightenment!"

From the satirical Babylon Bee:
LOS ANGELES, CA—We all know LeBron James is an amazing human being, but seriously. Just when we thought he couldn't get any better, local media caught this powerful moment and WE CAN'T EVEN. Cameras caught the inspiring, heartwarming moment LeBron approached a homeless man last week at one of LA's many tent cities.

According to sources, the homeless man held out his hand to LeBron's approaching car to ask for some spare change. What happened next gives us faith in humanity again.

The world-famous NBA player looked at the poor man's outstretched hand. Smiling kindly he said, "Silver and gold have I none, but in the name of #BlackLivesMatter, I offer you the gift of social enlightenment!"

LeBron James then proceeded to lecture the lucky panhandler on his white privilege, offering helpful ways to "be better" in the future. "I was shocked," said Mike "CrazyEyes" McCluckerson, the homeless Marine Corps vet after LeBron's helpful exhortation. "I was raised by a family of possums under an abandoned bridge, but I had no idea how many advantages my whiteness had given me in life. Furthermore, Mr. James illuminated a host of unconscious biases I harbored in my heart without even knowing it. This moment marks a turning point in my never-ending journey to relinquish the mantle of privilege Western colonialism has afforded me."

Mr. McCluckerson then offered Lebron James his scarf as a token of thanks. James didn't have any cash to offer the homeless man, but he did make a $100 donation to Black Lives Matter in his name. What a BEAUTIFUL gesture. Go, LeBron!

A bodyguard for Ghislaine Maxwell

From the satirical Babylon Bee:

BRADFORD, NH—Following the arrest of Ghislaine Maxwell for sex abuse charges, the FBI is taking no chances in keeping her safe while she awaits trial. Sparing no expense, the FBI has hired top-notch Italian bodyguard Hiluigi Clintonelli.

“It's-a me, Clintonelli!” said the world-renowned bodyguard arriving at the prison.

Thanks to the particularly glowing reviews from high-profile individuals such as President Bill Clinton and Prince Andrew, all federal prison security checks were waived for Hiluigi. “There’s simply no one else that we trust to execute this job as she can.”

“Mamma mia, this simply will not do!” exclaimed Hiluigi Clintonelli as she forcefully cleared the room. She warned that anyone other than her could be a threat to Ghislaine’s life.

Clintonelli also connected all camera feeds to her personal server to ensure that all recorded video was properly secured.

Courage gone missing

In the Epoch Times, Roger Kimball writes,
Long ago, Aristotle pointed out that courage is the most important virtue because without courage we are are unable to practice any of the other virtues. Courage has been in notably short supply in Western countries in recent months as people have allowed petty bureaucrats to turn them into sheep who obediently quiver in place and refuse to be seen out-of-doors without a mask.

Hooligans and anarchists, seizing on the spurious excuse of the death of a black man in police custody, have rampaged across the country destroying property, attacking the police, and terrorizing ordinary citizens.

A statue of Teddy Roosevelt or Abraham Lincoln has nothing to do with the death of the unfortunate George Floyd, neither, for that matter, do statues of Robert E. Lee or Andrew Jackson.

Iranian "earthquake"

In the Daily Wire, Emily Zanotti reports,
An “earthquake” that rocked northeastern Iran late last week may have been a blast from a suspected nuclear silo, experts tell the Associated Press and is likely associated with a “fireball” that could be seen over the country’s capital city, Tehran.

“n explosion that rattled Iran’s capital came from an area in its eastern mountains that analysts believe hides an underground tunnel system and missile production sites, satellite photographs showed Saturday,” the AP reported Sunday, adding that the blast’s location is suspiciously close to where Iran has tested powerful nuclear weapons triggers before.

The blast is the second concerning, potentially nuclear event in as many days. On Saturday, Russia denied that one of its nuclear power stations was suffering a meltdown, despite Swedish authorities saying they detected a rise in at least three different types of radioactive emissions, Financial Times reports.
