Does Trump lack the discipline and self-awareness to explicitly state initiatives he wants to tackle in a potential second term in the White House?

In the Daily Caller, Christian Datoc reports,
The Wall Street Journal’s editorial board issued a scathing critique of President Donald Trump on Thursday evening for failing to explicitly state initiatives he wants to tackle in a potential second term in the White House.

“As of now Mr. Trump has no second-term agenda, or even a message beyond four more years of himself,” the board writes. “His recent events in Tulsa and Arizona were dominated by personal grievances. He resorted to his familiar themes from 2016 like reducing immigration and denouncing the press, but he offered nothing for those who aren’t already persuaded.”

The editorial says that “Mr. Trump’s advisers have an agenda that would speak to opportunity for Americans of all races—school choice for K-12, vocational education as an alternative to college, expanded health-care choice, building on the opportunity zones in tax reform, and more.”

Still, The Wall Street Journal’s editorial board suggests that “Mr. Trump lacks the self-awareness and discipline to make this case.”

“If that’s true he should understand that he is headed for a defeat that will reward all of those who schemed against him in 2016,” the board concludes. “Worse, he will have let down the 63 million Americans who sent him to the White House by losing, of all people, to ‘Sleepy Joe.'”

Guess What? I Still Like Trump!

Guest post by Suzann Darnall

It is now more than two years since President Trump took office . . . and, I still like him! I am still well aware that he is imperfect, but I still think he may well be the most perfect president for this time in America. For one thing, he is not a play nice just for the sake of making friends, kinda guy. He demands fair play from our friends, frenemies, and enemies. He treats our friends with respect when they truly are friends and he respects our enemies while verifying if they are truly respecting us. I don’t know how much he actually trusts, but he sure seems on top of the verify.

I like that he is willing to try to work with the Democrats, but not at the expense of allowing them to get their way without allowing American citizens to gain something in the bargain. He definitely works to put America and Americans first. A far cry from the last president, the recent Democratic presidential hopefuls, and the DC Dem political swap monsters. And, while he is working for us, he is also putting in place the tools to allow Americans to get back to work.

So, I will most assuredly be voting for President Donald J. Trump in 2020. He is a good president, a good American, and a good guy. He may not wear a white hat like President Ronald Reagan, but he sure has become a hero to a lot of us here in America. He is making America great again and allowing Americans to feel great again. Thank you, Mr. President!!!

Is Trump political chemotherapy?

Does Trump have a good chance to be reelected in 2020? Victor Davis Hanson reminds us in National Review that
People, not polls, elect presidents.

Presidents run for reelection against real opponents, not public perceptions. For all the media hype, voters often pick the lesser of two evils, not their ideals of a perfect candidate.

...The public has been hearing a lot from radical new House representatives such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D., N.Y.) and Rashida Tlaib (D., Mich.). Their pledges to deliver “Medicare for All,” to phase out fossil fuels, and to abolish the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service are occasionally delivered with snark. Tlaib recently used profanity to punctuate her desire to see Trump impeached.

But much of the public supports Trump’s agenda of deregulation, increased oil and gas production, getting tough with China on trade, and stopping illegal immigration.

What if the Democrats impeach Trump, even knowing that a Republican Senate would never convict him?

When Republicans did that to Bill Clinton, his approval rating went up. Some Republican senators even joined the Democrats in the effort to acquit Clinton. As a reward for the drawn-out drama around the impeachment, Republicans lost seats in both the 1998 and 2000 House elections.
