Remember that Bloomberg guy who ran for president for about a month and spent about one billion dollars to no avail? The corporation which made him rich has a very cozy relationship with the communists in China. The latest example is to be found at the invaluable Ace of Spades blog.

The public has a right to know if its supposed news organizations are colluding with a hostile foreign communist regime.

Bloomberg News was so determined to kill the story completely that they fired the reporter they'd already censored suspecting him of having talked about the story. (That is, fired for committing journalism.)

They threatened him and demanded he sign an NDA.

He did.

They also threatened his wife -- who had no connection to Bloomberg, except for her husband -- and demanded that she also sign an NDA swearing to never speak ill of Bloomberg.

She refused.

Fincher is a former correspondent for CNBC and Voice of America. At the time, she was finishing up her doctorate at a Chinese university. She bristled at what the company's lawyers were suggesting.

"They assumed that my husband would be able to silence me," Fincher says. "He didn’t want to do that. That's not the kind of relationship that we have."

Fincher tells NPR she walked out of the conference room, took the elevator to the lobby, left the building and never returned. Bloomberg LP continued to press her.

The story that Bloomberg News killed, and the reporter who wrote it, eventually made their way to the NY Times. Fincher, the reporter’s wife, wrote about Bloomberg's attempts to silence her for the Intercept. But the whole story does make you wonder what else Bloomberg News is not reporting for fear of offending authoritarian governments.
Meanwhile, CNN is releasing "journalistic reports" that are nigh-perfect copies of propaganda dispatches from China. Compare CNN's "report" with Red China's own "press release."

Chinese communists are cracking down on religion

BEIJING (AP) — China’s government is ratcheting up a crackdown on Christian congregations in Beijing and several provinces, destroying crosses, burning bibles, shutting churches and ordering followers to sign papers renouncing their faith, according to pastors and a group that monitors religion in China.

The campaign corresponds with a drive to “Sinicize” religion by demanding loyalty to the officially atheist Communist Party and eliminating any challenge to its power over people’s lives.

China's people choking on unbearable smog...can't complain about it on the internet.

The Daily Mail has a story about the incredible smog enveloping China.

Heavy air pollution in China has caused a spike in hospital visits, closed roads and forced the cancellations of flights.

...Most of China's smog is blamed on the burning of coal for electricity and heating, which spikes when demand peaks in winter.

...Chinese censors, who tightly control online commentary, were busily removing remarks about the smog from the twitter-like Weibo social media platform, according to the web site Freeweibo.com, which tracks posts deleted from the service.
One of them showed a headline from a March 1999 copy of the Communist Party mouthpiece the People's Daily newspaper pledging to "absolutely not let polluted air enter the new century."
