Did you remember that for a time Nelson Rockefeller was the Vice President of the United States? Yep, Ford appointed him and Congress approved, after the resignation of Nixon. Rumsfeld describes him as a liberal bully in Rumsfeld's book
Known and Unknown.

Bob, I remember well when Nellie was appointed VP. And, I remember well when the second worst President in the history of the US whipped Ford's backside.

I don't think we've quite ever recovered from that. President Reagan took some steps...but left us with another moderate.
Who got beat by a restrained liberal.
Who left us with a moderate.
Who let us get beat by an ultra-liberal.
A downward-spiraling pattern emerged.
My sane mind tells me that we're completely screwed, and the only way to fix this is to tear it all down and start over.
But, that's just me.
