Some environmental groups are unhappy with Obama's pick of Colorado Senator Ken Salazar to head the Interior Department. They are afraid he might be too much of a centrist! Latinos are afraid Salazar's U.S. Senate seat might go to a Republican (heaven forbid!) in two years.
Environmentalists want to protect the sage grouse. It is truly a fabulous bird, but protecting it might create major roadblocks to oil and gas work President Bush is allowing on federal lands.
Growing up on a farm in the beautiful San Luis Valley of Colorado, Salazar learned how to conserve resources and produce products. His current immediate family recently operated a Dairy Queen store in Denver. Farmers and small business owners learn how to face challenges. Salazar will have many as Secretary of the Interior, not the least of which will be having to deal with the environmental whackos and ethnic minorities who think they should own Obama, since they overwhelmingly supported his candidacy for the presidency with money, time, effort, and votes.
Like Obama, Salazar is left-of-center. His record as U.S. Senator, Colorado Attorney General, and Director of Colorado's Department of Natural Resources, however, is not extreme left, like the environmental whackos want.

His background is better than I expected BUT I just don't like lawyers on general principle.
