This blog is looking for wisdom, to have and to share. It is also looking for other rare character traits like good humor, courage, and honor. It is not an easy road, because all of us fall short. But God is love, forgiveness and grace. Those who believe in Him and repent of their sins have the promise of His Holy Spirit to guide us and show us the Way.

A Never-Ending Circle
Along with illegal immigration, our nation has a huge problem with drug abuse. Our hospitals are being asked to have beds available for druggies and people who are mentally ill. Extra security guards have to be hired to watch these patients 24 hours daily, because many of them are predisposed to violence, if they cannot get the drugs to which they think they are entitled. After brief stays of just a few days, police bring these patients right back in to the same hospital again in a week or less. These same emergency rooms see dozens of illegal immigrants daily. The circle is never-ending.

My sister the nurse recently did a stint as a traveling nurse in Oakland. She came out jaded after the way CA treats its drug addicts. They get royal carpet treatment and treat others with disdain, violence and hatred. The only thing that matters is the next hit. It was so disheartening to hear her perspective as the healthcare attendant. I'm not sure what the answer is...but the current crop of programs are NOT working.
