There they go again. Big headline yesterday in the Rocky Mountain News: "Rice gets $316,000 in jewels, gifts from Arab leaders." In the eighth paragraph the reader learns that the gifts have been turned over to the General Services Administration and government archives in accordance with federal law, which bars officials from accepting personal presents.
How about this headline: "Condi Rice complies with federal law." No, even though accurate, it's just not juicy enough. Let's go with the one that is completely misleading. It will influence people to hate our Secretary of State.
Isn't it fun to have this newspaper to play with? I know we are going to lose it in a couple of weeks, but it has been great fun loading it up with our biases!

When Thomas Jefferson said it's better to have a free press than a good government, obivously he didn't foresee what our so-called free press would become...an extension of the demo party. I'm still peeved about the birth certificate myself.
