Who is your idea of a "good catch?"

How do you select a mate? Who is your idea of a good catch? Is it mostly about personal appearance? Should it be?

I think a good catch, regardless of gender, is kind, good-humored, unselfish, dependable, faithful, and giving. Note that none of these characteristics have anything to do with personal appearance! Yet, taking care of oneself is surely a good way to let your mate know that you want them to find you attractive.

Do you know anyone with all of these characteristics? They may be few and far between, but they are out there. If you are looking for a mate, and you meet someone who demonstrates all of those characteristics, go for it!

If you are not looking for a mate, or, more likely, the person who has these qualities is already "taken," let them know you have observed their unique qualities and that you appreciate them! I don't do enough of that. It is so simple to acknowledge goodness. You don't need an advanced degree in a mental health field (although I do have one); you just need to know how to give a sincere, straightforward compliment and recognition.
