I Love Your Land. I Know The Laws and The Judges. I Think I'll Take Your Land

It hasn't hit the dinosaur media (daily newspapers and t.v.) yet, but it is on talk radio. A retired judge from Boulder, who was formerly Boulder's mayor, and his wife, a former chairperson of the Boulder Democrat Party, and is a board member of the "open space" commission, successfully filed a court action to take property away from the owneres of the land! they first went to court on a Friday afternoon and got a temporary restraining order to prevent the lawful owners of the property from putting up a fence. They asked for a "reverse possession" hearing.

The landowners had planned to build a retirement home on the property after their children left for college. The property was adjacant to land that the landowners presently live on.

The ex-judge and his wife live in a house 200 yards away from the vacant land. They built and maintained a path across the vacant land to their land. The land stayed vacant, while the owners raised their family. They always paid their property taxes, sprayed for weeds, and took good care of it, although they never put up "No Trespassing" signs. Hikers, a common activity in Boulder, walked across the property to gain access to the beautiful views that could be seen from neighboring greenbelt areas. The judge awarded the property to the ex-judge, becasue he and his wife showed that they had developed a love for the land! I kid you not! Only in Boulder (I hope)!

If this were in New Orleans or Watts, it would be called looting!
