Similes and metaphors of Freedom, Friendship, Jealousy, and Justice

Today my son Greg's teacher asked the students to write similes and metaphors. Here are the four offerings 12-year-old Greg wrote:

To fly like you are part of the wind. To soar through the clouds. To dive through the brush of trees. Wild and carefree, that is the eagle of life.

Friendship is like a sandwich. You have the soft bread of kindness, then the complicated parts in the middle; the tomatoes of hope, the ham of alliance, and the cheese of hidden envy.

Jealousy is not something to hold onto. It is sand. It spills through your fingers and slips away, as better judgment takes charge.

Justice: the judge, jury, and final decision of life, is like rain. It falls after a period of cloudy suspicion, bringing things together by softening the soil of evil.

Bob, your metaphors have truly inspired me. You sir, are a beautiful gust of wind flowing beneath the wings of the brave eagle if life. Your words spoke to me on a personal level, as in I was eating a sandwich when I read this. I do hope your day is filled with the polka dotted joy of silver doves.
