From Neatorama: In Russia, Victory Day is May 9, a day to commemorate the surrender of Nazi Germany in World War II. Look closely at this billboard promoting the holiday. It has a Soviet flag, but the soldiers are taken from Joe Rosenthal's photograph "Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima," which shows the U.S. victory over the Japanese in the 1945 Battle of Iwo Jima. Yes, it's been flipped horizontally, so maybe no one will notice. See more at English Russia.

Interesting wording on the sign, which reads, "This is our victory." I suppose a very generous reading might be to include all the Allies in "our" but the flag seems to indicate the "our" is those who fought under. On the other hand, I think there's a similar trap for us Americans to think that we turned the war around. Of course the full truth is that the war wouldn't have been won without the contribution of all of the Allies.
