This week Colorado Senator Bennet made a fool of himself on the Senate floor as he fought against a bill which would fund the Coast Guard.

He said,

"When the senator from Texas shut this government down in 2013, my state was flooded. It was under water. People were killed. People's houses were destroyed. Their small businesses were destroyed, forever. And because of the senator from Texas, this government was shut down, for politics," Bennet shouted.

I was living in Colorado at that time, and I do not remember Colorado being under water. I think that is something I would not forget.

Bennet was vigorously responded to by Senator Ted Cruz, who was trying to get funding for the Coast Guard.
