"The Fred Astaire of Politics?"

Barack Obama has successfully charted a path that is befuddling many of the nation's pundits. George Will, in this piece, describes him as the "Fred Astair of politics." Here is how Will describes Obama.
So far, Obama is the Fred Astaire of politics -- graceful and elegant, with a surface so pleasing to the eye that it seems mistaken, even greedy, to demand depth. No one, however, would have given Astaire control of nuclear weapons, so attention must be paid to Obama's political as well as aesthetic qualities.

If, as I hope, Obama defeats Hillary and Silky in Iowa and New Hampshire, a great deal more attention will soon be paid to what he actually would do if elected President.
