Kahaner points out that in the Gulf War we largely destroyed Sadaam's tanks, scud missles, and air force, but we left seven to eight million small arms, mainly AK 47s. In the chaos that followed our swift opening victory, Saddam's vast armories of AKs were looted by Iraqis, and those weapons have proven to be effective in fighting against the forces of freedom.
