How healthy are we?

I am reading a yet-to-be-published book by Patricia Rattray. It is entitled, Medical Policing: A Modern Day Witch Hunt. From Chapter Six, Health and Medicine:
...The U.S. ranks 30th in life expectancy, below every other economically developed country. In healthy life expectancy, meaning free of chronic illness, the US ranks 20th among industrialized nations. The United States has a higher infant mortality rate than any of the other 27 wealthy countries. A baby born in the U.S. is nearly three times as likely to die during the first year of life as one born in Finland or Japan.“

...Forty-five percent of Americans now suffer from some form of chronic illness: asthma, diabetes, thyroid problems, high blood pressure, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer's, Multiple Sclerosis, Crohn’s, and IBS to name a few.

...One in two men and one in three women in the US will get cancer in their lifetime.

Diabetes is now epidemic, asthma is now epidemic, thyroid disease is now epidemic.

One in every six children in the US has a developmental disability, such as autism, attention deficit disorder or cerebral palsy.

Autism is up 200 to 400 percent country-wide and up 2000 percent in California, where a quarter of all pesticides used in the US are applied.

...One in six adult Americans are on psychiatric drugs.

One in thirteen American children are on a psychiatric drug.

“The Cato Institute of Washington, D.C., reports that … in the U.S. about 83 million people suffer insomnia, 70 million people have severe headaches, 32 million have arthritis, 23 million have allergies, and 16 million have bad backs. Organically and chemically generated toxins can trigger many of these health problems. Also, on this list of environmentally triggered diseases are cancer, multiple
sclerosis, heart disease, asthma, joint deterioration, gastrointestinal illness and premature aging. Experts in the field indicate that as many as 25% of our population will become chemically sensitive during their lifetimes.”

More to come as I read further.
