The Straight Dope On The Disappearance of Some Bee Colonies.
This post appears to clarify the issue of the disappearance of some bee colonies. There are twenty thousand species of bees. The only species that scientists have noticed might be having some problems surviving are the European Honey Bees. That species happens to be the one global agriculture relies upon for about 30% of its pollination requirements. It is not a new phenomenon. It has been seen before, named before, and studied before, but never with any definitive conclusions about cause. In fact, it occurs every winter! Most now believe it has something to do with the bee management practices of the relatively few beekeepers who have been affected.

There seem to be a good number of honey bees around here. I understand that there is a parasite affecting them in some parts of the country.
I read about this a few times and nothing further, nice to read that it is common, and not to worry.
