It's not always easy, but the savage murder of Jessica Ridgeway brings home this point: listen to your children! Denver Post reporters interviewed families who lived near the murder scene. In a nearby neighborhood, Emily Alexander said her 11-year-old daughter came home scared a few days before Jessica disappeared. Some "creepy teenager" had been staring at her and a friend while they played at a park near Lukas Elementary School in Westminster. After Jessica was abducted, Alexander said her daughter was adamant that the "creepy teenager" was responsible. "She kept telling me, 'I know who it is,' " Alexander said. "And I just thought she was being paranoid."
