"identity politics, cultural wackiness, boutique environmentalism, the new progressive rich, and redistributionism"

Victor Davis Hanson asks at National Review,
Where does the Republican party go after the election of Donald Trump? Trump ambushed Republican establishmentarians and grabbed the party’s nomination by winning over the white working and middle classes — and Democrats and independents who were sympathetic to their plight. The opening was given to him, first, by the Democratic party that long ago ignored blue-collar workers in favor of identity politics, cultural wackiness, boutique environmentalism, the new progressive rich, and redistributionism — as it became a political pyramid of a plutocratic capstone atop a broad subsidized base — with not much in between.
This article will be published in National Review Magazine on December 5.
