Jon Voight has spent a lifetime in hard left Hollyweird, so he knows what he is talking about when he says,
“I think the word ‘progressive’ is a very devious term. It was created as a substitute for ‘communist.’ What they propose is the reverse of progress.”
Once people started to figure out what they had twisted the word “progressive” into meaning, oligarchical collectivists needed a new euphemism. They settled on “liberal” — which like “progressive” is used to mean exactly the opposite of what it used to mean.
The quintessential liberal was Thomas Jefferson. The authoritarians who have hijacked the term hate Jefferson intensely, precisely because he was liberal by the original definition of the word.
For their next outrage against semantics, moonbats will start calling themselves “patriots.”
