Has the media killed Black Friday? By sensationalized reporting of the few incidents of bad behavior, the media has scared many would-be shoppers away from retail stores, even though most retailers have learned from past mistakes, and are much better able to handle the crowds. On-line shopping, however, is steadily increasing. Stores who stay open on Thanksgiving are shamed by the stories as ruining families, while stores that closed are praised as family-friendly and patriotic. Which stores paid their employees more, the open ones or the closed ones?
