Federal government lawyer getting paid six figures to fight against the elected president's policies

J. Christian Adams knows the Justice Department. Today he reports at PJ Media about one DoJ lawyer who is doing his best to thwart President Trump on voter I.D. laws. Here are some excerpts:

we have a total of five pieces of confidential information leaked by a lawyer on the Texas voter ID case at the Justice Department.

That’s five pieces of confidential information that a Justice Department attorney revealed to Pro Publica, or to a third party who revealed it to Pro Publica.

That’s five different reasons for that attorney to be disbarred.

It’s also five different reasons for Trump administration officials to take action against the leaker.

The DOJ ethics office must open an ethics investigation and put the possible leaker under oath, and then report the leaker for disbarment.

Remember, the State of Texas itself was also an intended target of these leaks. The leaks were designed to undermine the Trump administration's new approach towards the Texas voter ID law and similar laws in other states.

It was designed to hamper and scare Trump administration officials away from action.

Leaks from the swamp designed to sabotage the president will either be taken seriously, or they will not. If they are not, there will be more leaks. If there are consequences, like even a single termination or disbarment, they will stop.

For years, Shapiro’s wife Julie Fernandes has worked for the Soros Open Society Foundations as the advocacy director for voting rights. Remember, the Open Society Foundations funds Pro Publica. Meanwhile, Shapiro’s federal lawyer salary is in excess of $155,000 per year.

The Obama administration reflexively opposed voter ID laws despite the fact they are supported by the vast majority of Americans, including racial minorities. Trump made voter ID an issue in the 2016 election, and Trump won.

That’s what Justice Department lawyer Avner Shaprio cannot stand.

The Pro Publica article spins the golden-oldie from a decade ago that the civil rights lawyers at DOJ making $150,000 or more per year are uncomfortable and unsettled about the future because a Republican is in the White House:

All of the internal changes at the DOJ have left attorneys and staff with “ a great deal of fear and uncertainty,” said [Bill] Yeomans. While he says the lawyers there would like to stay at the department, they fear Sessions’ priorities will have devastating impact on their work.
Meow.

Memo to Bill Yeomans: Nobody cares except your close pals. In fact, stories about left-wing federal employees making 160 large living with "fear and uncertainty" delight the people who elected the president.

It’s what they expected with their vote. They paid for the ticket to the demolition derby, now the voters want to see the carnage and steaming radiators.

Everybody knows that virtually no work is taking place inside the Voting Section at DOJ, and hasn't for years. Most of the lawyers in the country would trade places in a heartbeat with the woe-is-me $160,000-a-year lawyers leaking to Bill Yeomans and Pro Publica.

Some will bristle at the notion of hauling a lawyer suspected of leaking to Pro Publica before the Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR), putting the lawyer under oath, and asking about leaking to Bill Yeomans, Jessica Huseman, or Annie Waldman. These would be the the sorts of insiders who flinch from any controversy. Good luck, because the Civil Rights Division is a cauldron of controversy. That won’t change.

Caution isn’t what got these officials a job, anyhow. This president won the White House because he was a disruptor. Perhaps more importantly, Americans supporting the president expect the swamp to be drained. People who put Trump in the White House expect disruption, not caution. People working for the president in federal agencies should let that soak in a bit.

When the swamp leaks and sabotages the president, everyone working for the president has an obligation to enforce the rules and follow the law.

Thankfully, if nobody has the will to do what the president promised, the public can make their own complaints about these leaks to OPR.

Let’s see if the head of OPR, Robin Ashton -- a well-known Democratic loyalist, incidentally -- takes seriously the fact that Voting Section lawyers are unethically leaking to sabotage the president.

Let’s also watch to see if immediate supervisors inside the Voting Section also take the leaks seriously and act.

If not, we can add a few more names to the list of the swamp creatures to drain out shortly.

A voice mail that threatened U.S. Rep. Steve Stivers and his family landed a Westerville [Ohio] man in federal court Wednesday, charged with a crime that carries a 10-year prison term if he is convicted.
In the voice mail that authorities said was left with the Upper Arlington Republican’s Hilliard district office on Sunday, the caller mentioned the June 14 baseball practice during which House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, R-La., and four others were wounded or injured in Alexandria, Virginia.

“I’ve seen the prayer ya’ll were saying at the baseball diamond ... I think ya’ll better hit your knees and pray for the people that you’re screwin’ up their lives,” the message stated, according to a criminal complaint filed by Capitol Police in U.S. District Court in Columbus.

“We’re coming to get every g**amn one of you and your families. Maybe the next one taken down will be your daughter. Huh? Or your wife. Or even you.”

E. Stanley Hoff, 68, is charged with threatening to “assault, kidnap, or murder a United States official.” He appeared in federal court wearing a Mickey Mouse T-shirt, jeans and sandals in addition to ankle and wrist chains. [Emphasis added]

According to the complaint, Hoff has left at least five threatening voice mails at Stivers' Hillyard office since February. The voice mails continued even after Capitol Police warned him to knock it off.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Kevin Kelley told Chief Magistrate Elizabeth A. Preston Deavers that Hoff "is a significant danger to the community."

“We had to take it seriously, especially when he mentioned the baseball game,” Kelley said of the latest message.

Preston Deavers ordered Hoff held without bail.

Rep. Thomas Massie (R, Ky.) introduced a bill after Rep. Steve Scalise was shot at the Congressional baseball game last week that would "require reciprocity between the District of Columbia and other States and jurisdictions with respect to the ability of individuals to carry certain concealed firearms, and for other purposes." It currently has 40 co-sponsors in the House.

Rep. Mo Brooks (R, Ala.), a member of the Republican baseball team that was attacked on June 14, introduced legislation that would allow members of Congress carry concealed weapons anywhere in the U.S. except the Capitol or when in the presence of the president or vice president.

Democrats, of course, want a kinder and gentler approach to protecting themselves from enraged murderers. Cleveland.com reports:

A subcommittee where Niles-area Rep. Tim Ryan is top Democrat is about to consider a number of funding proposals to increase congressional security, said Ryan's spokesman Michael Zetts.
"Congressman Ryan is determined to give the Sergeant at Arms and Capitol Police the funding and tools they need to ensure there will never be another tragedy like the one we saw last week," Zetts said.

Toledo Democratic Rep. Marcy Kaptur said Capitol Police have the primary responsibility to protect visitors, Congress members, and staffers at the U.S. Capitol.

"I would prefer to leave the task of maintaining order to the professionals," she said.

When asked whether it would be a good idea for members of Congress to carry concealed weapons in Washington, D.C., Warrensville Heights Democratic Rep. Marcia Fudge replied: "No. More guns are not the answer."

So their basic plan is to let the bad guys and a handful of Capitol Police have guns, while everyone else has to "shelter in place" and hope for the best. If you were getting the calls Stivers was getting threatening you and your family, would you be comfortable with that arrangement? It's unfair to ask these men and women to be essentially sitting ducks with no way to protect themselves. If they've passed a firearms course and have obtained their gun legally, they should be permitted to carry, even in that safe, gun-free utopia they call Washington, D.C.

Given the attack which took place in Alexandria last week, I’m sure the Secret Service is not taking threats like this lightly. An Illinois man named Joseph Lynn Pickett was indicted Wednesday for making assassination threats against President Trump on Facebook. From the Belleville News-Democrat:

“Before I die I want our president and Congress to sign a treaty to never side with Russia or any enemy of the United States of America! If one will then that person deserves to be shot,” his post read. “Guess what Trump? I’m waiting for the right time…and I KNOW your (sic) Putin’s (expletive)! The secret service now has a heads up as to my plan to assassinate Trump…let’s see if they act.”…

“Honestly am I really going to have to kill Trump before our fine Government (the jack-booted thugs they are) actually takes me into custody for threatening to assassinate President Donald Trump?” Pickett wrote. “I mean he sold our country to The Russians. He is a Benedict Arnold but hey the (expletive) is our President even though he needs a blade in his neck. And you dumb, asses who stick up for him…who’s gonna protect you when someone like me comes t (sic) take you out.”

The story adds that Pickett lost his job at Lowes about “six to eight months ago” after he allegedly made a threat against a co-worker. It’s not clear from the story what the threat was about or whether the timing had anything to do with the election. However, it was two former co-workers from Lowes who contacted the Secret Service about Pickett’s online threats.

Pickett is being held without bail until his trial. The Associated Press reports his public defender has not responded to questions so we haven’t heard another side of this story yet (if there is one). But one thing seems clear, the left-wing campaign to portray the President as a Russian collaborator is being heard loud and clear in Illinois.

30 Republican members of Congress have either been attacked or revealed that they were the victim of a death threat since the beginning of May.

A total of 30 Republican members of Congress have either been attacked or revealed that they were the victim of a death threat since the beginning of May.

May 8: Wendi Wright, 35, was arrested after stalking Rep. David Kustoff (Tenn.) and trying to run him off the road. After pulling over, Wright "began to scream and strike the windows on Kustoff's car and even reached inside the vehicle."

May 9: Virginia Rep. Tom Garrett needed heavy security at a town hall after receiving a series of death threats in May that police "deemed to be credible and real."

"This is how we're going to kill your wife," one message said. Others detailed how they would kill his children, and even his dog.

May 12: A town hall participant accosted North Dakota Rep. Kevin Cramer, shoving fake dollar bills into his suit jacket. A Kramer supporter grabbed the same man by the neck. Both men were ejected by law enforcement, but neither were charged.

May 12: A Tucson, Ariz. school district employee was arrested by the FBI for sending several death threats to Arizona Rep. Martha McSally. The man threatened to shoot McSally and told her to "be careful" because her days "were numbered."

May 21: Florida Rep. Ted Yoho described his office getting vandalized by protesters. One female constituent left a voicemail on an office answering machine, promising, "Next time I see you, I'm going to beat your f**king ass."

June 14: Sens. Rand Paul (Ky.) and Jeff Flake (Ariz.), and Reps. Steve Scalise (La.), Kevin Brady (Texas), Jack Bergman (Mich.), Mike Bishop (Mich.), Mike Conaway (Texas), Roger Williams (Texas), John Moolenaar (Mich.), Gary Palmer (Ala.), Chuck Fleischmann (Tenn.), Ron DeSantis (Fla.), Barry Loudermilk (Ga.), Mark Walker (N.C.), Steve Pearce (N.M.), Brad Wenstrup (Ohio), Rodney Davis (Ill.), Jeff Duncan (S.C.), Trent Kelly (Miss.), Mo Brooks (Ala.), and Joe Barton (Texas) were attacked by a gunman during a baseball practice in Alexandria, Va.

Scalise, the House majority whip, was shot in the hip, and remains in the hospital. Four others were injured, including a staffer for Williams and two Capitol Police officers assigned to Scalise.

The same day, New York Rep. Claudia Tenney received an email reading, "One down, 216 to go."

June 17: Missouri Rep. Ann Wagner revealed that she had gotten five death threats in the weeks leading up to the Scalise shooting. Wagner said that protesters had been "vandalizing my home, showing up with masks and gravestones, and laying down on my driveway and drawing chalk outlines of dead bodies. Picketing my church at 8 and 10 o'clock Mass."

June 22: An Ohio man was arrested for leaving a voicemail threatening the life and family of Rep. Steve Stivers (Ohio).

"We're coming to get every goddamn one of you and your families. Maybe the next one taken down will be your daughter. Huh? Or your wife. Or even you," the man said.

The same day, Utah Rep. Jason Chaffetz played a threatening voicemail he had received on "Fox & Friends."

"I suggest you prepare for the battle motherf**ker, and the apocalypse," the caller yelled. "Because we are going to hunt your ass down, wrap a rope around your neck, and hang you from a lamppost."

"Revenge of the Swamp!"

Another jam-packed Laura Ingraham Show. Trump left D.C.'s sound and fury (signifying nothing) last night, and went to the heartland, where it all started! Laura thinks he should get out of D.C. at least a couple times a week. Not just for big rallies, but to have direct contact with Americans of all walks of life.

An historian compared Trump with North Korean dictator Kim Jon Il, which, a caller points out, if true, the historian would now be in jail doing hard labor!

Trump is criticized for joking that he does not want to put a poor person in charge of the economy. Roger Stone reminded us that Obama sent a social worker to do the deal with Iran!

How can we know when Trump did well? By the ferocity of the media response!

Stone points out that people like Zuckerberg and Bezos, when they cannot argue on the merits, fall back to censorship!

Stone refers to Comey, Mueller, and Rosenstein as the three amigos, who have worked together through the Clinton, Bush, and Obama years. Where is the crime? There is no reason for a prosecutor if there is not a crime! Mueller met with Comey to prepare him for his Senate testimony, in which he admitted that he leaked in order to get a special counsel appointed! The Mueller investigation is the "Revenge of the Swamp!"

Establishment Republicans have been appointed to high positions. Elaine Chow is McConnell's wife. Dina Powell is a close friend of Valerie Jarret and Huma Abedin! Powell is now Deputy National Security Advisor!

Laura takes a close look at the Muslim girl in Virginia who was killed by an illegal immigrant from El Salvador with a baseball bat. The media is downplaying the fact that he was here illegally.

Mueller was head of the FBI when they investigated Fox News's James Rosen and his parents! Mueller also tried to coordinate with Lois Lerner in prosecuting conservative groups Lerner was targeting at the IRS.

Tom Fitton is a guest on today's program. Russia collusion? How about when Hillary was Secretary of State and her husband was paid huge sums of money for a speech, money which was deposited in Bill and Hillary's joint bank account.

Now it is Ryan and Mcconnell's turn to produce! Trump needs to barnstorm the country. Today he goes to Iowa to talk about the great deal he just reached with China, which has had a monopoly on beef, but Trump has now broken that monopoly and opened up the Chinese market to American ranchers.

Today Tillerson and Mattis are meeting with their Chinese counterparts in Washington DC.

Hothead Eric Holder wants to get in politics and shame us all about race.

Mike Lee and Mitch Mcconnell are not on the same page on health care.

What do we need? We need economic prosperity. We need a happy country. Wage increases!

What do we have in Congress? A lot of speech-givers!

Why Ossoff lost

Wondering why Ossoff lost in Georgia despite oodles of cash financing his campaign? Ace suggests,

People are sick as hell of the riots, the bullying, the temper tantrums, and the constant caterwauling banshee-wailing from the Monster Babies, or the Garbage Babies as Iowahawk calls them.

They're sick of the constant agitation towards violence from the left, and the media's covering that up, at least, when it's not openly justifying it.

They're sick of the left making them second-class citizens and imposing that status through both vigilante violence as well as the official actions of the corrupt and weaponized state.

They're sick of the institutions of what used to be called "America" issuing get-out-of-jail-free cards to those who threaten American citizens, thereby giving the left a hunting license to kill people on the right.

They're sick of Fake News CNN, where an anchor, shortly after a Black Lives Matter assassin shot a bunch of cops in Dallas, praised that leftwing assassin as "courageous and brave." (Skip to 2:04.)

In short, they're starting to realize the left has declared solemn war on them, and they're waking up to that awful reality, and the inescapable consequences of it.
