"Greed. arrogance, and the lust for power"

Harry Reid says, Gosh, I didn't know anything about $133,000 in illegal contributions to my campaign for the US Senate in 2007. I get lots of money from lots of different people.

One of Reid's sleazy lawyer buddies, Nevada "power broker" Harvey Whittemore, was convicted of giving that sum of money to friends, employees, and family members, telling each of them to forward the money to Reid as pretend contributions to his campaign from each of them. He has been sentenced this week to two years in prison and some community service work.

I really don't see what the problem here is. New York Mayor Bloomberg sent $350,000 of his own cash to Colorado to fight the successful recent recall campaigns against two Colorado State Senators. Voters rejected Bloomberg's Senators. The problem in Nevada is that the voters did not reject Reid!

From Wikipedia:

A series of investigative reports in the Los Angeles Times[42][43][44][45] suggested that Reid had introduced legislation and imposed pressure on regulatory agencies to advance the business interests of his close friend Harvey Whittemore, a Nevada attorney-lobbyist who contributed heavily to Reid's campaigns and leadership fund and who employed Reid's son Leif as his personal attorney. With Reid's help, Whittemore was able to proceed with construction of a $30 billion planned golf course development, Coyote Springs, a project heavily criticized by environmental groups for reasons including its projected effects on several endangered species.[46][47]
