4 to 1: I Like Those Odds!

Today I asked my teens what they have been noticing about the Presidential race. They both answered, "Hillary." Then, one of them said, "Obama." I was not surprised, because they get their news from a cursory listening to the radio or glancing at the front page of the newspaper before getting to the cartoons. I doubt if they could name who is running on the Republican side.

However, as I indicated in my last post, I have noticed something else the media is not emphasizing: total votes being cast by Democrats and Republicans. I do not have the counts from South Carolina, but here is Nevada. Hillary got 5,353. Obama got 4,771. Edwards got 395, so the Dems got a little more than 10,00 votes.

On the Republican side, 22,649 people voted for Romney, Paul 6,087, McCain 5,651, Huckabee 3,616, Thompson 3,521, Giuliani 1,910, and Hunter 890. Well over four times as many voted Republican as voted Democrat!

Update: Here are the Republican results from South Carolina (from Fox News)
Candidate Raw # %
John McCain 140,354 33
Mike Huckabee 125,783 30
Fred Thompson 66,580 16
Mitt Romney 63,681 15
Ron Paul 15,534 4
Rudy Giuliani 8,935 2
Duncan Hunter 1,016 0
