Do you know about Ikhwan? According to Wikipedia, Ikhwan
was an Islamic religious militia which formed the main military force of the Arab ruler Ibn Saud and played a key role in establishing him as ruler of most of the Arabian Peninsula, in his new state of Saudi Arabia. After being crushed at the Battle of Sabilla, and their rebel leaders killed, the Ikhwan were eliminated as an organized military force in early 1930. The remnants of the irregular Ikhwanis were incorporated into Ibn Saud's regular security forces.
Do you know about Dawa? It is a term which
denotes proselytizing of Islam
Clare M. Lopez uses both terms in a piece at the Center for Security Policy about how Islamists have penetrated the F.B.I.
Engaging in the war of ideas requires first studying the enemy’s ideas, not purging them from all consideration. Enemy jihadis whose terrorist-supporting activities, ideology and identities have been exposed in a court of law can never be suitable “outreach” partners for law enforcement agencies—especially agencies like the FBI that have been duped and penetrated for far too long by their Ikhwan comrades.
