On this day in 1944, arguably one of, if not the most pivotal day of the last century, the Allies stormed ashore on the Normandy coast to commence the liberation of Europe and the defeat of Nazi Germany. It also marks the 50th anniversary of the 6-Day War, where Israel, anticipating its destruction, instead wiped out the combined armies of Egypt and Syria and forever earned the enmity of the world by not doing what Jews are supposed to do in those situations: die.
