"White Democrat leaders announced today they would be resigning from Congress to allow more diverse voices to be heard."

More welcome humor from the satirical Babylon Bee: WASHINGTON, D.C.—Denouncing the white privilege from which they've benefited their entire lives, white Democrat leaders announced today they would be resigning from Congress to allow more diverse voices to be heard.

Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Bernie Sanders, Joe Kennedy III, Eric Swalwell, Richard Blumenthal, Adam Schiff, Jerry Nadler, and dozens of others formally turned in their resignations today in order to combat the prevalence of white privilege in our country. Elizabeth Warren will remain so as to give Native Americans a voice.

"We must make space for people of color to be heard," said Senator Chuck Schumer, who had donned a rasta dreadlock wig and beanie. "And the place where white privilege is most prominent is here in Congress, where old, white people make rules for a bunch of oppressed people. No longer. Effective today, we all resign."

"I bless the rains down in Africa, and Wakanda forever," he said, solemnly performing the Wakandan salute.

Joe Biden also declared he would be resigning from Congress but aides quickly reminded him he's not in Congress and he's running for the presidency and his name is Joe Biden.

Increase diversity by excluding Christmas songs that mention Jesus!

Parents at a middle school in Virginia have received notice that
Christmas songs mentioning Jesus would no longer be permitted.

David Allen told television station WWBT that he received an email from the school’s chorus teacher explaining that the school had decided to avoid singing “anything of a direct sacred nature in order to be more sensitive to the increasingly diverse population at the school.”

“I’m trying to rationalize how you can encourage diversity and yet be exclusionary in one specific area,” Allen told the television station.

Do you really value diversity or are you just virtue signalling?

In Maggie's Farm, Bulldog writes,
...What's really at stake when corporations invoke 'diversity' isn't anything truly tangible. I know there are almost no firms that value older employees. They are expensive and their experience is no longer valued the way it once was, so the 'diversity' they offer isn't a valued diversity. Older employees are often viewed to be technologically impaired, owning mindsets which are not as 'out of the box' or forward-thinking (I take issue with both these points). Diversity for most firms isn't really diversity at all. It's just virtue signaling to the public. True diversity is recognizing that different personalities and viewpoints have value and welcoming them as part of the mix so the overall organization benefits. It's not a goal, just something which should be done naturally. Do you need an officer to tell you how that's done?

"we are tiptoeing very close to conscious child sacrifice in the cause of "diversity"."

Did you know there was
attempt to boot Tucker Carlson off the air because he asked the question "But why exactly is diversity our strength?", to query the state religion is an act of heresy that must be punished.

That is from Mark Steyn, who writes further at Steyn Online,
we are tiptoeing very close to conscious child sacrifice in the cause of "diversity".

...I dislike state ideologies, whether communism or fascism or the fluffier ones like "diversity". And, when the thought police insist you cannot say a word against them, that's all the more reason to speak up.

Diversity costs!

From Barrister at Maggie's Farm:
Diversity And Other Administrative Monstrosities: The Case Of The University Of Michigan

It begins:

Mark Perry, an economics professor at the University of Michigan at Flint and a scholar at the American Enterprise Institute, recently calculated that his university has nearly 100 diversity administrators, more than 25 of them earning over $100,000 a year. Collectively, they cost the University of Michigan, with fringe benefits, about $11 million annually. Adding in other costs such as travel and office space expenses, the total cost rises to perhaps $14 million, or $300 for every enrolled student at the U of M in the fall semester 2017...

Is the New Year going to be the same as the old?

Mark Steyn gives a recap here of the violence occurring over the weekend in countries overrun by migrants. His conclusion:
"Diversity" is where once functioning societies go to die. But who ya gonna believe - the official happy-talk or your acid-scarred eyes?

Talking diversity, but practicing groupthink!

Thomas Sowell writes at The American Spectator,
So long as academia talks demographic “diversity” and practices groupthink when it comes to ideas, we have little reason to expect better of student mobs that riot with impunity.

How the national media lost influence

Jesse James writes at Virginia Freemen,
American politics is largely the game of letting the least qualified and most covetous among us have power over the strongest military, domestic police force, tax base and nuclear arsenal the world has ever known…and wondering every four years what went wrong.

...Despite what the race-obsessed statists can’t seem to understand, diversity is not treating people like crayons and collecting one of every color. True diversity is having substantive differences in viewpoints about actual things, because outside the proverbial ivory tower, people largely define themselves by what they believe not what box gets checked in the census every decade. Diversity is having Louis Farrakhan, Richard Spencer, Bernie Sanders, Ted Cruz, Patrick Buchanan, and Bill Buppert on your editorial board. The NYT would increase their readership by a thousandfold and once again be worth reading.

...This obsession with rooting out all but the most conformist ideas is precisely what drove the discourse out of the national media’s hands and into the social media’s.

... Can you kill an idea or opinion by banning it?

"Madness rooted in politics"

Peter Skurkiss writes at American Thinker,
The United States is importing people with a religious and cultural propensity to commit horrific acts of hatred and revenge against Western Civilization. This is madness rooted in politics.

...This incident at OSU is an example of the Obama administration's reckless refugee resettlement policy. One has to wonder how many others like Abdul Razak Ali Artan are here existing like potential time bombs, ready to explode if America does not show what they consider to be proper deference to them and their religion.

There can be no question that the current refugee resettlement program is extremely risky. To understand why many people in power support and defend it is to understand how far the madness of multiculturalism and diversity has affected policy.

Multiculturalism is the belief that all cultures are the same and should be placed on equal footing. It is a tolerance for all values. At its beginning, even the strongest proponents of multiculturalism never believed that multiculturalism was valid. They pushed this philosophy so as not to appear to be overly condescending to those from, shall we say, developing cultures. Think of it as a type of noblesse oblige, if you will. But as is so often the case of those pushing a false narrative, the multiculturalists came to believe their own propaganda over time.

Now in elite circles, it's goodbye Washington, Jefferson, Madison, and the Constitution and hello to diversity. And don't think multiculturalism isn't buried within the motive of Hampshire College in Amherst, MA to lower the U.S. flag on campus after the election, restoring it after protests.

Judging from the actions of Democrat politicians, immigrants who come here from Third World cultures and with Third World mindsets are not expected to blend in. Heaven forbid, as that would be an affront to their "dignity" and go against the grain of multiculturalism. As a result, separate enclaves are popping up across the country, even in the heartland. The Democratic Party celebrates Balkanization as this enlarges their constituency base, never caring how it weakens overall American culture and strength.

...Of course, the commitment of the elites to multiculturalism smacks of hypocrisy. When you consider that among all of us, they are the most insulated from the adverse affects of their insane policy, due to their wealth and power. One has to wonder what the elite reaction would be if Muslim terrorists periodically ran amok in murderous rampages in the Georgetown section of Washington, D.C. or at Harvard, Princeton, and Yale, the inner sanctums of the elite, instead of at a state university catering to the middle class.

So it is in this poisonous environment of multiculturalism über alles that the likes of a thoroughly brainwashed university administrator can openly grieve over the passing of Abdul Razak Ali Artan, the terrorist at Ohio State.

"No squaring that circle"

Z Man writes,
...patriotism and multiculturalism can never coexist. The former assumes a set of value judgments based on nationality and ethnicity. The latter explicitly rejects those values. In fact, multiculturalism is nothing more than the nullification of patriotism and nationalism. There’s no squaring that circle.

...if anyone dares notice diversity in public, the people in charge will land on him like Puritan witch hunters. One of the hilarious parts of reading crime stories is how the reporters go to great lengths to conceal the race of the criminal. We end up with stories about a “tall man with a red cap” being jailed for murder. The result of this absurd contradiction is that diversity has become synonymous with danger and the promotion of it erodes trust in the people promoting it.

The fact is, the meritocratic system that supports the managerial class is ruthlessly authoritarian. If you don’t check the right boxes, you cannot advance. This system is by design intended to boil off anything resembling dissent or innovation. It is why the Buckley Right locked shields with the Left in opposition to Trump. Their loyalty is to a system that has bestowed credentials and honors on them, along with a lifestyle they could never achieve outside in the dreaded private sector. Political ideology is just a decoration.

A system that cannot tolerate dissent and makes war on anything that challenges it, cannot be made compatible with popular resistance to its polices. The managerial class can search about for tactics and language to try and square this circle, but they are faced with an irrepressible conflict. We either have normal countries with popular governments, responsive to the will of the people, or, we have an authoritarian, technocratic managerial state. It’s one or the other, but not both.

More and less important assets

Elizabeth Harrington reports at the Free Beacon,
President Obama is ordering all national security agencies to expand the use of “unconscious bias” training and address “intersectionality” in a late push for diversity and inclusion in the federal government.

The president issued a memorandum on Wednesday entitled “Promoting Diversity and Inclusion in the National Security Workforce.” The memo requires all 17 intelligence agencies, including the Pentagon, State Department, and Department of Homeland Security, to report back in four months on their progress in collecting information about diversity in their workforces, such as employees’ sexual orientation and gender identity.

Obama listed “diversity” as “our greatest asset” in keeping America safe.

It is time to step back from the apartheid brink.

Victor Davis Hanson writes,
Emphasizing diversity has been the pitfall, not the strength, of nations throughout history.

...America’s melting pot is history’s sole exception of E pluribus unum inclusivity: a successful multiracial society bound by a common culture, language and values. But this is a historic aberration with a future that is now in doubt.

Some students attending California’s Claremont College openly demand roommates of the same race. Racially segregated “safe spaces” are fixtures on college campuses.

We speak casually of bloc voting on the basis of skin color — as if a lockstep Asian, Latino, black or white vote is a good thing.

Some public figures have sought to play up or invent diversity advantages. Sometimes, as in the cases of Elizabeth Warren, Rachel Dolezal and Ward Churchill, the result is farce.

Given our racial fixations, we may soon have to undergo computer scans of our skin colors to rank competing claims of grievance.

How does one mete out the relative reparations for various atrocities of the past, such as slavery, the Holocaust, the American Indian wars, the Asian or Catholic exclusion laws, indentured servitude, or the mid-18th-century belief that the Irish were not quite human?

Sanctuary cities, in the manner of 1850s Richmond or Charleston invoking nullification, now openly declare themselves immune from federal law. Does that defiance ensure every city the right to ignore whatever federal laws it finds inconvenient, from the filing of 1040s to voting laws?

...It is time to step back from the apartheid brink.

...Campuses desperately need unity czars, not diversity czars.

Diversity irony

David Brooks writes in the October 30 New York Times,
This year, a team of scholars from six universities studying ideological diversity in the behavioral sciences published a paper in the journal Behavioral and Brain Sciences that details a shocking level of political groupthink in academia. The authors show that for every politically conservative social psychologist in academia there are about 14 liberal social psychologists.

Chateau Heartiste responds,
How ironically banal that the group which preaches the endless benefits of Diversity™ is the group with the least amount of thought diversity in their academia bathhouses.

Even if they're all purple!

Claire Hawks writes at American Thinker,
You cannot force companies, communities, groups, neighborhoods, etc. to be diverse. It just doesn't work in the real world. Take the AFL/NFL for example. Both groups are primarily black. Why? Because obviously black players are superior to those of other races/ethnicities. Franchises want the best players for their teams because the fans want to see winning teams. If inferior players are hired for some arbitrary reason and the team consistently loses, the franchise will probably go out of business. Everybody loses.

Would you want yourself or a loved one cared for by a nurse who gained entrance to college over more qualified people and who was pushed through to meet some diversity quota? How about having your money handled by someone who was hired so the company could be more diverse but wasn't nearly as qualified as the person who wasn't hired? If your house is burning, do you want the best firefighters or the ones who were hired so there was more diversity? I bet you would want the best, even if they're all purple.

Freedoms and rights of the group, or of the individual?

Ayaan Hirsi Ali writes at the Harvard Crimson,
...somehow we have got so caught up in the pursuit of diversity that we have drifted away from the core of what it was all about, the core of liberalism: the individual.

Instead of struggling and campaigning for the freedoms and rights of the individual, some of us seem more focused on the freedoms and rights of the group.

...It is not good for the individual, for example, when diversity means accepting harmful traditional practices against women, or religious sanctioning of child marriage, or shariah laws that criminalize rape victims and dissidents.

We claim to fight for women’s rights, but we are not supposed to talk about the immense suffering of women in the Middle East because that might be construed as being offensive to Muslims. We are witnessing a major cultural shift in support for gay marriage across the West, but Iran remains beyond our criticism, even as the regime hangs gays, because that might be condemned as Islamophobic.

Worse still, those who speak out against these injustices are vilified and accused of “bigotry.”

...the First Amendment was not written into our constitution to protect the status quo — it was written into the constitution to allow for criticism of those in power and to foster the diversity of ideas.

...Those today who seek to limit free speech in the name of diversity are betraying true liberalism. Liberalism means standing up for the rights of every individual regardless of race, ethnicity, class, faith, gender, or sexual orientation. It means condemning oppression regardless of the form it takes and the cultural justifications given for it. It means recognizing that it is the individual who has rights and freedoms, it is the individual who suffers discrimination, and it is the individual we should be fighting to protect.

Child Pornographer Suffers The Embarrassment and Shame of Admitting He’s a Lawyer

The title for this post is found at The Rumford Meteor, which specializes in hilarious headlines he writes about news stories he reads in various newspapers. The actual story was written by Scott Dolan in the Portland Press Herald:
A Portland lawyer who lives in Falmouth has been sentenced to 90 days in jail as part of a plea agreement on a felony child pornography charge.

Lawrence Winger, 64, was taken into custody immediately Wednesday in the Cumberland County Courthouse in Portland after pleading guilty to possession of sexually explicit images of children younger than 12.
