HIDING a lot

After having been Bill Clinton's most significant political advisor, Dick Morris knows Hillary Clinton. Today Morris's wife Eileen McGann listed 20 reasons why Hillary would wipe her server clean:

Hillary is a hoarder. So is Bill. So if she actually removed everything from her server, she had to be convinced that it would be more dangerous to keep the emails than to ride through a scandal, no matter how rough.

This scandal isn’t about Hillary’s privacy, it’s about her self-preservation. So here’s what would make her do it:

1. The emails contained damaging information about Benghazi that conflicted with her testimony and statements.

2. The emails — and those of her closest aides — showed her improper use of her position to benefit the Clinton Foundation, Clinton Global Initiative, Teneo, and herself.

3. If she gave the Benghazi Committee electronic access to the emails, they could easily determine whether any had been edited or altered. It would have been extremely difficult to delete just some of the information in the emails. If she tried to doctor them, the system would likely show when it was last edited. Any edits after she left the State Department would be highly suspicious and the earlier versions could probably be retrieved anyway. So, it would be much easier to give out only hard copies, which can be easily doctored without detection and which would be difficult to search electronically.

4. The emails would show the improper coordination with the Clinton Global Initiative and U.S. corporations. Huma Abedin worked for the State Department as Clinton’s right hand person, Teneo, and the Clinton Global Initiative all at once. She used one of Hillary’s private email accounts on Hillary’s server. Were her emails deleted too?

5. The emails would show just how many of her political cronies she brought into the State Department.

6. She wanted to hide any policy disagreements with Obama.

7. She wanted to hide any knowledge of and role in the NSA spying on foreign leaders.

8. She wanted to conceal efforts to topple pro-democracy regime in Honduras and restore a would- be dictator.

9. She wanted to hide efforts to arm Syrian rebels.

10. She wanted to hide her push to keep Egypt President Mubarek in office.

11. The emails would show her back channel Benghazi “intelligence” briefings from Sidney Blumenthal and any responses, and…

12. Conceal her role in postponing signing the UN Arms Control Treaty until after the 2012 election, and…

13. Conceal her opposition to designating Boko Haram as a terrorist organization, and…

14. Hide her comments critical of Israel in the settlement controversy, and…

15. Conceal her position on troop surge for Afghanistan, and…

16. Hide her support for accommodation with China despite its well documented human rights abuses, and…

17. Conceal her comments on the DEA Fast and Furious program and its impact on US-Mexican relations, and…

18. Hide what we were doing in Benghazi in the first place, and…

19. Conceal the possible role disgraced former NSA advisor — and Hillary pal — Sandy Berger played in advising her, and finally…

20. Because she’s Hillary Clinton and she doesn’t have to do anything that she doesn’t want to do.

McCann concludes

Given the highly suspicious timing of the mass deletions -- about two years after she left the State Department -- the only inference that can be drawn about why she dumped the documents is that she was HIDING a lot. There's just no way to conclude otherwise. It's typical Hillary. Do we need four more years of her messes?

GOP power centers and their favorite candidates

Dick Morris is a political junkie, who is also very knowledgeable. Since I am also something of a political junkie, and one who is making an effort to become knowledgeable, I regularly read Morris and watch his videos. In today's video Morris talks about the three Republican power centers. The first is the Bush money machine, which Morris says is capable of raising upwards of a billion dollars. The second power center is the Koch brothers operation, which is a conglomeration of patriotic groups such as the Tea Party, which heavily influenced the GOP victories in 2010 and 2014. The third power center are the evangelicals.

Power center one: Jeb Bush. Power center two: Scott Walker seems to be emerging, although Ted Cruz or Marco Rubio might still capture this power center. Evangelicals: Mike Huckabee.

How much longer can Hillary stay silent?

How much longer can Hillary get away with silence? Dick Morris points out that

Her hope is that she can keep her silence long enough so that when she does speak out and move to the center in anticipation of the general election; it will be too late for the left to mount any real opposition to her candidacy.

In fact, Morris wonders if the favorite of the left, Elizabeth Warren, may actually be a decoy,

determined not to run and willing to clear the field for Hillary.

Bush may be the one most hurt by Romney's decision not to run.

Dick Morris gives his take on Romney's announcement that he will not run for the GOP nomination.

At first blush, one would have to assume that former Governor Jeb Bush is the most likely beneficiary of Mitt Romney’s decision to bow out of a race in 2016. But that may not be the case.

Were Romney and Bush both to have run, it would be fair to assume that their combined vote share in the early primaries might approach or even exceed a majority of the voters. The main attention in the race would be focused on the push/pull between the two, leaving little in the way of money, media attention, or available voters to impel one of the other candidates to the first tier.

A tame two way Romney-Bush race was highly predictable. My bet is that Romney would have won by using the immigration issue. Now all bets are off and there is time and room for other candidates to come forward.

Vacillation

Dick Morris explains that, like Hubert Humphrey in 1968, Hillary Clinton has a dilemma:

Just as Humphrey did, she is wrestling with how to put distance between herself and an unpopular president, particularly as the commander in chief sinks deeper and deeper into an increasingly difficult foreign war.

Like Humphrey with President Lyndon B. Johnson, Clinton is seeking to take advantage of her experience in the race for the White House while trying to articulate where she differs with the president on the policy she helped to formulate. In both cases, the president -- despite declining poll ratings among the general electorate -- retained formidable resources as the leader of his party. Whipsawed between fear of antagonizing the president and his political base and the need to separate from a failed foreign policy, both Humphrey and Clinton present an image of vacillation and possibly weakness.

Return them all immediately to their home countries

Dick Morris says the solution to the border invasion is to put them all on a plane and return them to their home countries. How America was reduced to impotence

Dick Morris says that from day one Obama moved the country toward socialism, starting with the one trillion dollar stimulus program. Second was the government takeover of General Motors, in which the stockholders and bondholders were told to step aside, and only the union pensions and wages were protected. Third was Obamacare. These created a tremendous instability and a lack of confidence in the dollar, and we were reduced to impotence.

After an uproar about the exorbitant college speaking fees paid to Hillary Clinton — $225,000 and up for each speech — she suddenly announced that all of these fees “have been donated to the Clinton Foundation.”

So in other words, she’s donated the over-the top $1.8 million in fees to her favorite charity — herself. Is there really much difference between a fee paid directly to Hillary and one to the Bill Hillary, and Chelsea Clinton Foundation? That’s like moving money from one hand to the other. It’s not like Hillary’s giving it away and losing control over it. Because, without a doubt, she and her husband control the Bill, Hillary, and Chelsea Foundation. Is there anyone at all there who would ever say no to them?

The left and the right have a common enemy

Dick Morris writes:

Ralph Nader’s new book may be the most important of the year. Unlike the usual beltway pundit, he grasps the essential nature of the joint outrage of liberals and conservatives at the crony capitalism that has gripped Washington under the likes of Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama. While these three men differ on almost every issue, they are united in their subservience to Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan Chase, and the other titans of Wall Street.

Income inequality, Nader argues, is an essential by-product — if not the goal — of policies that enrich the favored few who spread their campaign contributions to the establishments of both parties. Their return on this investment goes to the core of how the Federal Reserve treats them.

Once, the Fed was there to safeguard the currency against inflation. Then, in the Full Employment Act of 1947, its mandate grew to fighting joblessness. Now, in the era of quantitative easing, it has abandoned both missions in favor of pumping money to Wall Street (until recently $85 billion/month) to sustain and grow the stock market bubble. Its goal, very simply, is to enrich its friends on Wall Street and keep its allies in power in Congress and the White House.

These Wall Street abuses have united the Tea Party with the Occupy Wall Streeters. In Unstoppable, Nader explores their common ground.

He begins by identifying their common enemy: the Democratic and Republican coalition with Wall Street that aims all federal policy at enriching the verify top of the income spectrum.

He explains how their alliance

• Keeps money flowing to the biggest banks to fund their speculation

• Assures that when their irresponsible bets on derivatives and such go bad, the taxpayer will bail them out

• Funds every sort of tax break for special interests, keeping rates so high on less favored businesses that it slows economic growth

• Increases government regulation of community banks, so that they cannot afford to survive and are forced to merge with the big banks.

• Turns a blind eye to China’s currency manipulation that so brings down the cost of their products that they are de-industrializing America.

• Encourages Americans to go into deep debt to fund the corporate economy, colleges, and home builders, leaving them financially disabled and dependent on government charity.

• Encourages a permanent war economy and the profits that accrue to big businesses and defense contractors.

• Maintain the perverse incentives of the welfare state to keep people in poverty so they qualify for government largesse.

• Keep mega-corporations like General Motors going even as they outsource jobs to other countries and build unsafe cars.

Nader has his blind spots. He does not seem to realize that public employee unions have turned against the poor they were supposed to serve, advancing the privileges of their members over the needs of their clients. He also does not grasp that immigration is taking away the jobs of blue collar Americans. (Since 2000, the number of employed native born Americans has dropped by 100,000 while the rolls of employed immigrants — legal and illegal — have risen by 5.6 million (from Center for Immigration Studies).

Hillary Clinton, the crony capitalist who laughs about getting rapists off

The truth about Benghazi is beginning to emerge

Dick Morris believes the truth about Benghazi is beginning to emerge. A journalist Morris respects, Edward Klein, has written a book about the Clintons and the Obamas entitled Blood Feud. In it Klein quotes a source who he says was a legal advisor to Clinton. The source tells Klein that Obama himself was the source of the lie about the Benghazi attack being a spontaneous protest caused by an obscure You Tube video. Bill Clinton was the person who told the legal advisor about Obama calling Hillary on 9-11-12 to ask her to say the attack was because of the You Tube video, rather than a planned terrorist attack. She went along with the lie, because she did not want to be the one who caused Obama to lose the election, and thus ruin her own prospects for a presidential run.
