This blog is looking for wisdom, to have and to share. It is also looking for other rare character traits like good humor, courage, and honor. It is not an easy road, because all of us fall short. But God is love, forgiveness and grace. Those who believe in Him and repent of their sins have the promise of His Holy Spirit to guide us and show us the Way.

He is the champion fundraiser of all time!
This surely cannot qualify as news: Obama has already held more reelection fundraisers than all five presidents COMBINED who preceded him in office! He has held 124. Do you know how many Reagan held in 1984? Zero! Read the rest of the numbers here: http://www.newsmax.com/Newsfront/obama-fundraisers-clinton-reagan/2012/04/29/id/437440?s=al&promo_code=EC5F-1
You've got them outnumbered. Time for freedom in China!
I'm confused. This man, who has been blind since childhood, was being held "extra-legally" in his own house since October, 2010. He is a well known human rights activist who was opposed to abortions in China. Now he is under U.S. protection, according to the usually unreliable people at NBC News. Why? Obama is going to protect someone who is against abortion? I don't think so! I am sure Hillary will give him back to the Chinese when she goes to China this week. Oh, wait a minute. I get it; he's a lawyer! Even though he has exposed China's program of forced abortions and sterilizations, he is a lawyer, Hillary says! We need as many lawyers in the world as possible! Don't mess with lawyers!
No, that's not it? It's not that there is something wrong with abortion; it's that the Chinese people have no CHOICE! As long as people are free to CHOOSE abortion, then it is okay.
What does this tell you about communism? They are freaking out over a blind man escaping their custody! Supposedly, the people who helped him escape and travel to the U.S. Embassy are now being "detained." They can't even contain a blind man from seeking freedom. C'mon Chinese people, this is your time to toss the Commies out on their ears.
Check out the pollution as these Chinese go to work this morning. Must not be using green energy.
Update: Hillary's State Department gave him back already! That was fast! http://worldnews.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/05/02/11497242-blind-activist-chen-guangcheng-chinese-officials-threatened-to-kill-my-wife?lite

Can you improve your character, and make yourself
more likeable without identifying your bad habits and replacing them with good
ones? This blogger says no, you cannot. "Conversation is an exchange, like an exchange of gifts. It

That's a lot of new babies!
While surfing over at American Digest I found these two graphs that show birthrates in China and India. Both result in 200 babies every five minutes, though India's is even higher that China's rate.

No fire escapes
Gerard Vanderleun has written a beautiful post on abortion.
"If I knew them, would I miss them, would I mourn them? The question is absurd. With abortion, you never get to know what you are missing. That's part of the deal.
And that, leaving aside all our abstract notions and the tidy ideas about consciousness and otherness, is the private hell everyone involved in an abortion enters. Its not a hell you're in and then walk out of, but a hell you carry with you forever. There are no fire escapes."

Do you feed your dog banana peanut barker frozen yogurt?
Vincent Carroll weighs in on the controversy around Mitt Romney and his dog. He points out that times have really changed, and I think he is right. Not only do people coddle their dogs and cats to unprecedented degrees now-a-days, but you would not believe how much money people spend on feeding birds. I grew up thinking birds were wild and could find their own food. Well, anyway, here is the link to Carroll's piece: http://www.denverpost.com/carroll/ci_20490663/romney-trapped-time-warp

This smiley-face would-be-bomber was captured by the F.B.I. in Chicago, after he plotted to blow people up at Wrigley Field by leaving a back pack that he thought contained an explosive device in a trash bin. Newt Gingrich is being pilloried because he ran for president despite not being financially prepared. But, he had ideas. One of his ideas is that America should not abandon the space race. Questions about politics
Can anyone explain to me why such an overwhelming percentage of African Americans vote Democrat? The Republican Party was founded on ending slavery. Remember Abraham Lincoln? In my lifetime Dwight Eisenhower sent federal troops to Arkansas to escort nine African American students to and from school every day. Each time civil rights legislation was presented, the percentage of Republicans who voted for it was always greater than the percentage of Democrats. More schools were desegregated during the presidency of Richard Nixon than in any other presidential term in history.
Do Republicans have to learn how to play to the mob? How to pretend to be extending their hand out to the little guy while taking campaign cash from the crony capitalists and union thugs? How to use Saul Alinsky tactics to pit Americans against each other on the basis of which victim groups can deliver the most votes in November?

How to use Saul Alinsky tactics to pit Americans against each other on the basis of which victim groups can deliver the most votes in November?
Easier said than done!
This is a big weekend for people who enjoy professional sports. It started with the NFL draft. Here in Colorado, thanks to second-year Broncos executive John Elway, we already got our superstar quarterback, a future Hall of Famer and brother of this year's Super Bowl champion quarterback Eli Manning. Elway and his draft team did not add any more sure-fire superstars, but hopefully they brought in the kind of guys who will "leave it all on the field."
Today begins the NBA playoffs for the Denver Nuggets. They have the dubious honor of playing a best-of-seven series against the championship-tested L.A. Lakers. The Nuggets do not have any superstars. The Lakers have Kobe Bryant, who may be the best player in professional basketball, and who has a history of raising his game to new levels in the playoffs. As if that were not enough, they also have Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum. The Nuggets, however, sometimes really play the game like it should be played, with unselfish hustle at both ends of the court. The problem is that they get careless at times with dangerous passes that don't hit their mark.
Kobe Bryant has already set the bar higher for his teammates by sitting out the last game of the regular season to rest up for the playoffs. He did this despite the fact that he had an opportunity to win the league's scoring title. Instead, Kevin Durant of the Okalhoma City Thunder won it for the third year in a row. Bryant's teammates will surely get his message: it is a team game, and it's all about winning in the playoffs.
The Lakers are always contenders for the NBA championship. They know how to do this. However, until game seven, they will be without some guy named World Peace, who is another experienced, very physical player. The reason he is out until the seventh game is that he has a long history of taking his physicality a bit too far, and is being punished for that by the league. So, my advice to the Nuggets is to win it in six or less games, which will be a lot easier said than done!
Update: Game one is not even close: Lakers 103 Nuggets 88.

Demonic
Who knew? Ann Coulter's book Demonic is a history book! In it she makes the case that liberals like mobs. She goes into great detail about the French Revolution, which she compares unfavorably to the American Revolution. She writes about the despicable Weathermen terrorists Bill Ayres and Bernadine Dohrn, early advisors to Barack Obama. She criticizes Martin Luther King for being willing to sacrifice young people to Democrat Bull Connor's dogs to keep King's non-violent movement going, even though civil rights had already been achieved through legislation supported by Republicans and opposed by Democrats.
Ann Coulter was an early and steadfast supporter of Mitt Romney. Wouldn't it be fun to see him reward her by appointing her to head the Justice Department or be the White House Press Secretary?

The next ethanol disaster
Ethanol has had disastrous effects on our economy. So what is being planned by Obama and his crony capitalists who benefit from the ten percent blend of ethanol? They are planning to increase the blend to 15%! Here is what one blogger has to say about that:
"Ethanol collects water, which can cause engine stalls. It corrodes plastic, rubber and soft metal parts. Pre-2001 car engines, parts and systems may not be able to handle E15, which could also increase emissions and adversely affect engine, fuel pump and sensor durability. Older cars and motorcycles mistakenly (or for price or convenience) fueled with E15 could conk out on congested highways or in the middle of nowhere; boat engines could die miles from land or in the face of a thunderstorm; and snowmobiles could sputter to a stop in a frigid wilderness.
Homeowners and yard care professionals have voiced concerns that E15’s corrosive qualities could damage their gasoline-powered equipment. Because it burns hotter than gasoline, high ethanol gasoline engines could burn users or cause lawnmowers, chainsaws, trimmers, blowers and other outdoor power equipment to start inadvertently or catch fire, they worry.
As several trade associations have noted in a lawsuit, the Clean Air Act says EPA may grant a waiver for a new fuel additive or fuel blend only if it has demonstrated that the new fuel will not damage the emissions control devices of “any” engine in the existing inventory.
E15 has not yet met this requirement. EPA should not have moved forward on E15 and should not have ignored studies that indicate serious potential problems with this high-ethanol fuel blend.
Largely because of corn-based ethanol, U.S. corn prices shot up from an annual average of $1.96 per bushel in 2005 to $6.01 in 2011. This year we will make ethanol from 5 billion bushels of corn grown on an area the size of Iowa. E15 fuels will worsen the problem, especially if corn crops fall below expectations.
Ethanol mandates mean more revenues and profits for corn growers and ethanol makers. However, skyrocketing corn prices mean beef, pork, poultry, egg, and fish producers pay more for corn-based feed; grocery manufacturers pay more for corn, meat, fish and corn syrup; and families see prices soar for almost everything on their dinner table.

Top Ten Positive Climate Changes
Recently there was something called Earth Day. Here is a blog that believes many positive developments are taking place on Earth. His top ten:
10) The growing season across the Northern Hemisphere is expanding;
9) Precipitation has increased across the mid-to-high latitudes of the Northern Hemisphere (where most of the world’s crops are grown);
8 ) Higher CO2 levels are leading to more productive plants, including crops such as corn, wheat, and rice …
7) … and contributing to an increasing global output of food products;
6) The combination of the above is leading to a true “greening” of the environment;
5) Global tropical cyclone activity has been declining over the past 20 years and is now near its 40-yr low;
4) The rate of sea level rise has slowed during the past decade;
3) The rate of global temperature rise has remained moderate and likely below the central value of climate model projections for the past 30 years;
2) Evidence continues to mount against high climate sensitivity values.
And, the NUMBER 1 positive climate development for Earth Day 2012,
1) Together, these beneficial trends, along with enhancement of our energy and other technologies, has the net result of increasing public health and welfare. For example across the globe, the life expectancy at birth is the longest it has ever been, and continues to climb upwards.

Obama eats dog!
And, there is this:
"Much has been made of Romney's carriage of his dog in a cage strapped to his car roof. Much more has been made of Obama's confession in one or the other of his ghost-written roman à clefs that he had partaken of dog meat as a youngster. And the latter has been far more amusing than the former.
This is a singular problem with Obama and his crew. As craven thugs, they don't even bother to perform the most elemental of diligences before shooting gangsta-sideways at the passing vehicle we know as the Republican candidacy. Back in the day the fat, besodden liberal drunkards of Ye Olde Presse loved to call Nixon's administration The Gang That Couldn't Shoot Straight. Well, at least they weren't shooting themselves in the foot every other day. Twice a day, now that it's a leap year.
Obama's posse, and the molls of the press that linger in the back seat, always rimjobbable, are so freaking stupid they cannot see the ricochets. Romney abuses dogs? Obama EATS THEM! Really, has no one on the President's campaign committeee even read his beloved reminescences?
Everything about this administration has been an abject failure. Especially the failure of the Undead Media to hold this peckerwood's feet to the fire. They don't get it: a few trips to the woodshed would have given this fellow something to think about. They might of had a contenda. Instead of a failure. Which is what he is, and will forever be. They didn't discipline their boy, thus he misbehaves. I'm not the first person to opine that the press has done this self-absorbed prick no favor by covering for him."

Not a good place to be a comedian
Who knew? Egypt has comedians! One is going to jail, and he will soon be joined by another, who posted these pictures of Mickey and Minnie in Muslim attire.

Perpetuating the cycle of human misery
What is your parenting style? Permissive? Overly protective? Somewhere in between? Doesn't matter. This study shows that every style of parenting results in profoundly unhappy adults. "Despite great variance in parenting styles across populations, the end
product is always the same: a profoundly flawed and joyless human
being." The study did find, however, that adults often achieve temporary
happiness when they have children of their own to perpetuate the cycle
of human misery. http://www.theonion.com/articles/study-finds-every-style-of-parenting-produces-dist,26452/
Do I have to be hypnotized to get to the right?
This doctor has found that it is possible to activate the right brain through hypnosis, linking it
with higher consciousness and simultaneously neutralizing the left
brain. He is convinced that the main thing isn’t the synchronicity
between the halves of the brain, but the connection between the right
half and one’s "higher consciousness."

How the light gets in
Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offeringThere is a crack in everything
That’s how the light gets in.

Did you show your i.d. today when you bought your booze? Your cough medicine? Your cigarettes??
Of all the absurdities being pushed by the Democrat mobs, protecting voter fraud must surely be at the top of the list. Vincent Carroll writes today about Voter ID and its Hysterical Critics: http://www.denverpost.com/commented/ci_20437249?source=commented-opinion

It is so simple, yet seemingly so rare: show your employees that you appreciate them!
All because he felt unappreciated, a lawyer in Mexico who handled bribes for a major American corporation, has blown the whistle. This will result in bad publicity for the corporation, protracted trials resulting from criminal charges, and likely prison terms for top executives. The New York Times has done an in-depth investigation here: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/47128671/ns/world_news-the_new_york_times/#.T5Ndhdlvfz4

"They" won!
Every year on 4/20 there is a marijuana smoke-in on the campus of The University of Colorado in Boulder. Last year there were 10,000 smokers participating. This year campus officials stationed police at every entrance to the campus, requiring student i.d. from every person walking on the campus. Not only that, but they also applied a particularly odorous fish fertilizer on the area where past smoke-ins had taken place. As a result, this year the crowd numbered only "several hundred," according to a Boulder Camera story. Nevertheless, many defiantly lit up at 4:20 p.m.
President Obama is scheduled to speak on the campus next Tuesday. I hope this November i.d.s will be required to vote in the election he is campaigning for, but don't expect that to happen in liberal Boulder, and certainly not in Denver, where the ACORN types (by whatever name they are now calling themselves) flourish.

The Onion also weighed in on the story, with one fictitious observer noting "This is what's wrong with today's college students. In my day, we burned down the dean's home and he learned not to mess with our drugs." http://www.theonion.com/articles/university-shuts-down-marijuana-rally,27993/"They won
