"I still don't know how long she is going to live, but right now is pretty great."

A filmmaker has captured incredible timelapse footage of his pet puppy growing into an adult - despite being told the dog was unlikely to survive.

South African Dave Meinert rescued the four-week-old Great Dane from an irresponsible breeder after she was born with a pigment deficiency defect that can leads to deafness and blindness.

Most of the pup's siblings were either dead or deformed, according to a PetaPixel report.

But despite Pegasus' poor prognosis, the magnificent pooch is still going strong.

Dave decided to capture as much time with his dog as possible after being told she wasn't going to live very long.

His time-lapse video is the result of many months coaxing the dog onto the treadmill for that brief shot, every day - and so far Pegasus is still going strong.

Dave told PetaPixel: "I still don't know how long she is going to live, but right now is pretty great."
