Initial reactions to Benghazi Hearing

I was very fortunate to get today off work. I cancelled everything I had planned to do, and watched the Benghazi Congressional Hearings via uStream. (I was helped in that decision by the fact that it was a rare rainy day in Colorado)>

I am finding the testimony of "the bulldog," Mr. Hicks, to be absolutely riveting. This is way more powerful than the Watergate hearings, which I also found to be riveting. But, here there are deaths of brave men.

How about Representative Gowdy from South Carolina? Awesome job, Mr. Gowdy! Is Darrel Issa way cool, or what?

Update: How about two-time NCAA Division I wrestling champion Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio? Awesome!

Update: Bryan Preston is liveblogging the hearings at PJ Media. I wholeheartedly agree with his comments about Rep. Cummings:

Rep. Elijah Cummings used his opening statement to attack Issa and assail the as yet undelivered whistleblowers’ testimony. Cummings in effect filibustered their testimony by wasting time, while he claimed to be a champion of whistleblowers. Disgraceful.

Update: Mr. Hicks crushes Hillary Clinton's "What difference does it make?" Clinton's version of a You Tube video causing a protest, directly contradicted the statement of the President of Libya, who said the 9-11 attack was a planned attack. Hicks was never interviewed by the F.B.I.!

Hicks is unquestionably the hero of these hearings.

I agree with Preston that the Democrats are giving speeches designed to protect Obama and Clinton, rather than listen to what the whistleblowers have to say.

Rep. Farenthold of Texas on the whistleblower's comment "The best of bad times:" employing a group with ties to Islamic extremists to guard our embassy! "Surely there are some unemployed Americans who would be willing to do that job!"

Rep. Chaffetz of Utah showed emotion when remembering those who were killed, despite the Accountability Review Committee's assertion that everyone was safely evacuated.

Hicks: we were trained to gauge nuance. (Referring to calls from State Department superiors who wanted to shut him up and later demoted him). Hicks is my hero of this hearing, along with Issa, Gowdy, and Jordan.

Congressman Trey Gowdy: "What difference does it make? The truth always matters, and I don't give a damn whose career gets ruined; we are going to get at the truth!"
