Butt...

My four favorite Supreme Court Justices were on the losing side of a 5 to 4 vote this week. People are suing the tobacco companies for their deceptive advertising practices with regard to their "light" cigarettes. The court ruled that smokers may use state consumer protection laws to sue cigarette makers for the way they promote "light" and "low tar" brands.

Cigarette companies deceptive? You don't say! Yes, I know that individual smokers should know better, and have been warned for years. But cigarette companies have to be the most deceptive liars on the planet. I have no sympathy for them. They hook young poor spellers in by urging them to be "Kool," and then teach them how to be Marlboro Men, creating life-long addictions.

It's a tough call. I've never smoked but I have sympathy towards those who do and the companies that make the product NOW. Because we all know now how bad it is for you...are the companies really being deceitful now?
