Many people who are childless treat their animals just like they would a beloved child. Animals now get almost all of the medical procedures that humans get. This must be a great time to be a veterinarian!
In Colorado there are always about 800 children in foster care whose parental rights have been terminated. That means they are available for adoption. If they were adopted, wouldn't their lives benefit as much as those animals who have such loving caretakers?

And I have to say the sad part is it's easier for someone to adopt a pet than a child. I never fit the qualifications so I never could adopt a child, but I do adopt homeless dogs. But a child or two would have been so far beyond that.
