Christ's command at The Last Supper

Ann Voskamp writes today at A Holy Experience about Christ's command at The Last Supper.

“A new command I give you: Love one another.

As I have loved you, so you must love one another.

By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:34–35)

Ann wants to know,

Is this just a flimsy, take-it-or-leave-it suggestion?

She observes that nowadays

love is laughed at as the anemic brother of muscular truth.

But, Ann points out,

Only those who love, are sent by Christ. Without love — Christ didn’t send you.

She also notes,

the brokenness of humility is the secret to community and the harshness of pride is what builds walls of division.
