Kids who "help" their parents shop

Do you take your kids with you when you go grocery shopping? Someone should do a research study on how much extra money parents spend each year just by having their kids "help" them shop. I bet it is a substantial amount of money.

If the child is a toddler, the extra money is likely to be a small toy or something to suck or munch on. If it is an elementary school age child, it is likely to be gum, candy, a Barbie accessory or a Monster High package for girls, and a box of Legos for boys. Teen boys are likely to slip in a Monster Energy Drink, while teen girls will slip in a hair color kit or nail polish tube.

At any rate, isn't it money that could be better spent paying down credit card debt?
