Chicago teachers disrupt the families of 400,000 children

Unlike the teacher I wrote about earlier today, these Chicago teachers have disrupted the lives of 400,000 children and their families today.  Today 400,000 Chicago school children and their families have a conundrum. Their teachers are out on strike. Teachers unions had more delegates to the Dem Convention last week than any other interest group. Obama portrays himself as friendly to the middle and lower classes. His former chief of staff is the mayor of Chicago. Do you suppose Obama and Emanuel will take on the unions, who are disrupting so many lives? Remember when Reagan fired the air traffic controllers? These teachers make an average of $76,000 per year BEFORE benefits! And, they have turned down a 16% raise. The average family in Chicago earns only $47,000 a year.

This just undoes me. I understand wanting a raise, but to turn down 16%??? I'd be dancing if I got that kind of raise!
