Pro Choice

A lesbian couple is bringing charges against a Christian photographer, because the photographer refused to photograph their wedding ceremony! Lawyers at the Alliance Defense Fund are representing the photographer. New Mexico is giving the photographer the choice of photographing the ceremony or going out of business. An ADF lawyer was interviewed about the case on the Laura Ingraham show this morning.

first of all, this is a private buisness who probably has the right to turn clients away that s/he does not wished involved with.

Second, how can New Mexico give the choice of "going out of business" or photographing the wedding? Again, this is a private business who may have had other obligations. This may not be about the same sex union at all.

Third: Certainly the couple can sue him for anything they wish, but .what. are they suing for? Breach of contract? Not valid unless there was a signed contract. Refusing to do the wedding? Discrimination? what?

there aren't enough details here.

Holly,
You are right. We need more information. I apologize. I have emailed both the Laura Ingraham show and the ADF to ask them to provide links so we can learn more details.

I have a gloomy sense this is only the beginning. In my office there were 2 gay men. One was obvious, the other not so. I found both easy to work with and grew to care deeply for them. But I must admit that they were careful about how they felt and what they did. It was like gasp that was their personal business. Sure made liking them easier!!!!
