He Has Failed To Secure Our Borders

The New York Times today has a story that is supposed to help us understand the roots of President Bush's affection for immigrants from Mexico. I believe that affection has clouded his understanding of today's illegal immigration realities in this post 9-11 world. His stubborn refusal to secure the border has permitted unknown numbers of terrorists and criminals to sneak in, along with the many otherwise good people who, nevertheless, began their lives in America by breaking our laws, as they snuck into our country illegally.

I concur. This is definitely a case that highlights the power of emotionalism over sound reason.
It's easy to let emotions determine the outcome of complex and difficult choices, but, invariably, allowing emotions to rule our judgement always results in disaster.
History is a good teacher, yet only if we decide to listen.
